Compact, healthy, fast cooking. Excellent for quick reheats too.

Amazon haven't price matched but I'm positive they will soon.

Using patented Rapid Air technology, the Philips HD9220 Airfryer enables you to fry, bake, roast and grill tasty snacks and meals. By using little to no oil, the Phillips Air Fryer allows you to control your day to day oil intake.

Easy to clean, safe and economical for daily use, the Airfryer has an integrated timer that allows you to pre-set cooking times of up to 30 minutes. There is also an auto-off function which includes a ready sound indicator, while the fully adjustable temperature control allows you to pre-set the best cooking temperature for your food up to 200 degrees.

The combination of a fast-circulating superheated air, a starfish design and an optimal heating profile lets you fry a variety of delicious meals quickly, easily and more healthily. For added convenience, the removable non-stick coated drawer and the food basket are dishwasher safe for easy cleaning.

They only smoke on high fat thing if you set them for longer periods without opening and shaking it stops smoke building up.
I have cooked many things, use it daily, readymade frozen seems to have more fat in already, so having used up fish fingers I have made all my own, I do chicken fillets in breadcrumbs, burgers, sausages, steamed fish yes you can add water in bottom pan, I make ONLY proper chips, rinse under running water to wash starch, no need to soak for 30 mins...dry well I use max of 2 TEAspoon of oil to serve two. Perfect. Use good spuds like maris piper.
Wedges to die for. Either tossed in plain oil with herb and chilli delicious.

I did a roast beef joint, and roast spuds- spot on, the meat was tender.
Bacon is the worst for smoke if you don't open draw and move more regularly and no high smoke. Steak great. sweet potato chips, roasted vegs.
Treat it like a mini fan assisted oven.
I soak pan and basket when still warm with washing up liquid. The grid of basket needs a brush to clean, sometimes pop in dishwasher, bottom pan on bottom shelf and basket on top shelf.
Good phillips recipe app for mobile devices, and if you look on youtube for airfryer, watch the Phillips Aussie ones. To clean inside, round element, the phillips Aussie site shows how.
Overall good gadget we hardly use cooker. The air fryer combined with steamer works well. I always do the potatoes element first take them out needing a few mins more, then do the meat or fish, returning the potatoes back to air fryer for 3 mins on top and around meat / fish . I can part cook things earlier in the day as well.
I even adapted the proper ikea meatball recipe to air-fry rather than fry swimming in butter.. The taste of air fried food is outstanding.
Bought mine on an amazon deal earlier in year. this price good.
Enjoy.

Microwave heating pastry will taste soggy and rubbery, a minute in the airfryer and it tastes and has the texture that it has just freshly come out of oven. Same for day old slices of pizza.

These heat up really quickly and food cooks quicker in my experience than a normal fan oven.
You need to do it for less time and possibly change the heat settings, (as it is it looks like you over cooked them).
We love hash browns and in a normal oven they take longer than on the instructions (for the way we like them) but in a phillips oven they take less time then on the pack and come out nicer.

I needed a replacement metal basket that sits inside the plastic compartment that you pull out. I can recommend ordering from the Philips website http://www.philips-shop.co.uk/store/ ...Delivery is quick and at the moment there is a 10% off code.

Great price, definitely the money. I don't like that I can't stop the ticking timer earlier, but I just turn it off at the wall when I need to. It's one of the few things I bought for the kitchen which gets use multiple times a week :-)

Fantastic product! Got mine from Sainsburys for £50 innew years sales. Fish and chips, hotdogs, sausages, southern fried chicken, tandoori chicken, samosas is just a few. There are you tube videos of people making Chicken Biryani in metal pot placed inside. Only slight complaint from a family of four is that it's a bit small. Apart from that we all love it and we are all healthier as a result!

I'm sure that I bought mine for much cheaper in the New Year sales but still going to vote hot. Very good for cooking most foods although there will be a little adjustment to factor with taste and texture of foods like chips. In fact, I've just thrown in half a pizza flat bread whilst I write some feedback and it'll be piping hot by the time I hit the post button. Great for not having to mess around with the large oven when just wanting a snack.

I've found them pretty terrible for cooking prawn crackers though, which is the only time I'll return to deep fry.

I would also like to hear a comparison to an actifry, I have owned now 3 actifrys which are great. But the just get broken so easily.

I have also had the tower fryer , no comparison to the actifry, actifry wins hands down!

Also how much chips can it cook compared to the 1kg of an actifry?

I've heard this is really good but I think folk are kidding themselves when they say how good the chips are. You can't beat an old fashioned fryer, everything in moderation and you can't go wrong. http://www.tesco.com/direct/tesco-pro-fryer-dfpss11-3l-stainless-steel/211-5065.prd?skuId=211-5065

I find on things like burgers that drips and because there is a strong blasting fan this then blows the fat inside the oven and eventually hits the element and smokes. One burger maybe but with 2 or 3 in the oven the kitchen starts to fill with smoke so i wouldn't recommend it for that.
Its great for crisping up garlic bread, cheese on toast, oven chips, hash-browns etc. done in less time and with better results.

You can't cook things like frozen burgers in it as it smokes like mad - it can literally fill the whole house with smoke if you do. It's a great machine and you will use it constantly, but be aware there are plenty of things you can't put in it as they end up producing loads of white smoke - there is no filter.

Stuff that you'd normally grill or put in an oven. We've found it's great for thing like sausages because the fat falls through to the tray below, which is easily cleaned, and you don't get the smoke that you can get with a grill with fatty food. Pork chops work well too. And I do have to mention chips again, if only because it cooks the big fat frozen ones in about half the time of my oven.
