I bought these last feb and put..
Lamp 1. 4x D cell Duracell Alkaline (still going strong)
Lamp 2. 4x D cell rechargeable (needs charging every 4 months)
Lamp 3. 8x AA Eneloop Rechargeable in D cell adapter (needs charging every month)
admittedly they are in different positions and get different usage but the Duracell lamp is in the most used area and turns on the most. I try to use rechargeable every where but I think in this instance the alkaline batteries are better value.
Also be careful when you take the light part out of the bracket as the face part can pop off. If you drop it it will stop working as they are fragile.

Are they really worth the rrp of £70?

Possibly not, but definitely worth the deal price. I have one and will be buying a set of 3.

Probably not but I'm pretty pleased with my 3 from last time they were on offer at this price. The brown is very dark (nearly black) but the sensor range is good and light output excellent. Register on Mrbeams.co.uk to extend warranty to two years.

Lidl have nimh cells on offer, you can get D cells or AAs then put them in AA to D adapters.

EverReady seem to be doing something that looks similar in B&M at about 12GBP each so may be worth a look there.
I have two of these Mr Beams and have been happy but think they are a tad overpriced even at this deal price.
Be warned ,I thought these were great when I first got them, but they develop a fault after some time. They stay on all night and don't switch off.Taking the batteries out then in again solved it a few times now they just stay on at night.Check amazon reviews, it's a common fault.

I know it sounds odd but I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that is what they do to tell you the battery needs replacing. Bizarre I know. I'm very pleased with the brightness and sensitivity of the one I bought at Xmas, still going strong on its first set of Duracells.

It is a warning that your batteries are low and not a fault, the Amazon reviews are from imbeciles who haven't read the instructions.
So if the light stays on it means your batteries are too low, taking them out and putting them back in again will reset the lights but they will stay on again because they are too low.

Same for me, replacing batteries did nothing. I've bought a solar jobbie from Amazon which is great for about £10..
These are ok, but not when they go wrong :-(

If your batteries are low they end up staying on all night , a new set of batteries usually cures the issue. ^^^^^^

I bought this set about 9 months ago. They do their job perfectly. You can get the batteries off ebay for peanuts too. Good product for this price but not for £70.

I bought 2 of the single led versions more than a year ago, changed the batteries in one set since. They look black rather than brown, and are still working great. Have some heat :sunglasses:

Anyone know where I can get a battery operated outdoor light. I don't want it to have a sensor, just need it to light up house sign
No, ive put new batteries in,it seemed to start failing after really bad fog.Even tried it in a dark cupboard with no one to trip the sensor.

I got 1 from Amazon last year and my dog constantly sets it off at night but it's still going strong on the original Duracell batteries.

Just for the record, I emailed Mr Beam who replied that once new batteries were fitted, leave the unit in a dark place (a drawer in my case!) for a few minutes - this proved successful & my unit is now back up & running working properly :-)
