Nice bit of kit apart from the bags. Bags? Really? In 2016? May be of interest to some 1970/80's enthusiasts....

Have owned both makes. Miele by a mile. Much higher quality, more solid construction, bette grade plastics and will last for years. Don't be fooled by the bagless hype. It's a dirty, unpleasant job emptying the cylinder - if you do it inside the dust flies everywhere, if you go outside there is a good chance a change in wind will blow it all over you! Branded bags for Miele are expensive but you can find good quality clones on ebay and amazon.

Just paid £80 in Currys Charlton for the Miele Complete C3 PowerLine SGDE1HS15. Can't get a Which? Best Buy Miele for less than that, can you? One left plus display model.

Please note that the bags are the main means of filtration in these vacuums, therefore if you are using non-miele bags, and get dust on the exhaust side of the vacuum (brown dust not black carbon brush dust) you are essentially killing the concept as you are pumping fine dust particles back to your house, for what it may be a very tiny saving. Not saying that all replacement bags may be rubbish - just be cautious.

Over the years had both Dyson and Miele...Miele wins hands down everytime for me. We have a Miele thats 17 years old and still works great. All my Dysons are probably in Landfill/Recycled

Samsung seem to make surprisingly good vacuums. I bought a bagless one from sainsburys about 10 years ago when it was on offer for £25 and it has just died! Just bought another Samsung in this currys deal, although it wasn't £25 though!

The newer version of this C3 which uses less power but is more efficient can be bought from John Lewis for £149.97.

I use the parquet twister on my wooden floors, turbo brush on carpets and mini turbo brush on the stairs / car footwells.
The crevice tool works well cleaning the car seat and sofa gaps.
There is a dedicated car cleaning set available but I've managed without this by spending my money on more universal tools.

Miele wins hands down. After years of swearing by Dysons, I got a Miele cat and dog vacuum a couple of years ago and have never looked back.
I noticed that wherever I went there was a shop or market stall selling second hand or refurbished Dysons. This is not the case with Miele's as they are built to last 20 years plus.

I get these for my Miele cat and dog model, bargain £2.86 for 5 delivered
I wouldn't use generic bags as they won't have the same quality of seal or air filtration. The bags aren't that expensive when you look at how many you will use over the year anyway.

How often do the bags need changing on these? Do the bags need changing as often as bagless systems need emptying?
monz87 to fazer600
26 Mar 16#27
Definitely not, I bought mine months ago and still on the same bag with full power, with my previous bagless vax, it was a nightmare had to keep emptying it, and it was a bigger capacity one as well.

Unfortunately, it depends on personal use, how big your household is and how dusty it gets.
dianneNE to fazer600
26 Mar 16#38
Definitely not. I have 3 dogs and 3 kids - I vacuum at least once per day and the bags need changing about every month. The dust compacts and by the time you need to change the bags they are rock hard. Most people won't need to change as often as me though.

Bagless vacuum cleaners are great if you want less suction than a good quality bagged vacuum cleaner and don't mind dust escaping when you have to frequently empty the thing.
Well spotted!.Just beware that it's temporarily out of stock though

Don't fall for the overpriced hype of a bagless vacuum.
Those who mock bags have never tried a Miele. The suction is immense, even with the bag full it still wants to keep going. The build quality is better than a Dyson, the plastics just feel sturdy and construction more solid. No mess when it needs emptying, which isn't very often. There are cheaper comparable bags if that is your concern but this is offset by the convenience of emptying when full and the high probability the vacuum will last a very long time before coughing up for a new one.
Bargain.

Incredible vacuum this.
Been bagless for years, but others are right - I had to empty everytime with a bagless or else I'd lose power and it's a horrible messy job as well.
My old Dyson also looked nasty. Like a giant child's toy from the future. And having all your dirt and dust on display isn't the nicest look.
Moved to a Miele and not looked back.
These are built to last, work superbly, and I wouldn't touch a Dyson ever again thank you very much.

Sucks harder than a seasoned street worker. First time i used mine i pulled up all the lino in the kitchen! Tremendous power but be careful - it sucks so hard the underlay starts being sucked through in dust and i spend twice as long cleaning the brush head than i do hoovering.
That said, it takes but 10 mins to whizz through the bungalow with this mad power!!

I have the compact - it is amazing. The power is fantastic, and I have to put the power lower, as I am worried it'll rip up the laminate! Great on the rugs and the carrier, too. I would expect this model to be the same.
