The specs are impressive at this price point! It should cover pretty much any task you chuck at it. Gaming wise it should perform really well and carries 4gb of Vram. Stock now showing as "Low" though :(

Also the weight of this fella is 3.44KG which personally for this size and spec seems okay to me.

It is (was) not bad but that is a dated processor for that kind of money, we're on 6th gen Skylake now and that's 4th gen Haswell, looks like dumping old stock. At least the GPU is modern.

I think as an overall package though, it represents decent value. But yeah :disappointed: All gone now.. Booooo

Who cares if its 4th gen. Clock for clock it's only around 10% slower than Skylake and the turbo on Haswell laptops are more aggressive so in reality the difference is ZILCH.
My laptop has an i7-4810MQ in it and I think it is more than adequate.

Also, I wouldn't call a 970M 'Modern' just because they are dragging their heels with Pascal, it's still 1.5 years old :stuck_out_tongue:

I probably care if it's 4th gen when I'm spending best part of a grand and also for future resell. I didn't dispute it was a potent processor, I said 'dated' and I don't know many others who would choose an older CPU by choice unless buying used. But it is my opinion only.

Who wouldn't buy the older CPU if it performed exactly the same as the newer one (and in most cases cheaper). I certainly would because I am not ignorant nor do I buy products because of a name on a sticker.

Indeed, I have a very similarly specced (but 14") laptop, with a 6700HQ, but that cost me £400 more. 50% price increase for a newer and pretty much same performing cpu is something I was ok paying for, but others might not feel it worth £400.
