On a side note I read somewhere that if you don't have a patio gas cylinder then pop into the local recycling centre, they often have them and will let you take one for a few quid, you can then take this to homebase etc and pay for only a refill rather than paying the initial cylinder rental cost.

I have this BBQ and it's pretty decent, i paid about the same price towards the end of season 2 years ago. 2 things though, the flame is a bit too far from the grill and takes a while to cook the food. There are no lava rocks and retro fitting can be a pain, and you need to self assemble, not hard just time consuming.
Regarding the gas bottles our local tip will no longer allow you take them, something to do with the council and possible liability should something go wrong, as in theory once they are handed in they are council or their contractors property.

Rubbish quality . Spend a bit more and get a decent Weber BBQ.

It's not really a bit more though is it? You would have to pay an extra £300 which is 6x the cost of this BBQ!

But a comparable Weber would cost £300-£400
If you have a link for somethinbg <£200, I'd love to see it.

You can find for less than £200 a good one and at least you will get something that will last for years. This Landmann BBQ will fall apart after few months. I know because I had one some years ago and was appalled by the quality.

Mine is about to approach it's second summer of use. (Bought circa October 2014)
A pain to assemble from memory.
The ignition switch has never worked - so I have to turn the gas on and then light with a match.
The quality is certainly not what makes you think "sturdy" or "strong" or "premium".
However it does do the job of actually nicely flame cooking food.
So if you're on a budget, highly recommended
