Lastest gen i3-6100U, quite powerful for an i3 U version. Score higher than i5-5200u is to my surprise.
Integrated HD Graphics 520 GPU is quite good for an integrated. I have read somewhere it is better than AMD Radeon R6. I could be wrong.
4GB RAM is small, but cheap and easy to upgrade.
The screen is non-FHD.
128GB M.2 SATA SSD is using the M.2 slot. It has been confirmed that you can put in a 2.5 inch HDD for storage.
Win 7 Pro is a plus too.
Pay £350 upfront. can claim 125 + 50 cashback. If all sucessful, work out £175. See reply 1 for cashback details.
Credit to roaspaan35 for bring the deal to my attention.

A lot people seem have questions about cashback. I give a little summary below hope to clear things up. They are from last time I read it. I have not re-read, please double check and let me know if anything changed.
£50 cashback.
Straight cash, not string attached. Apply 30 days from invoice date.
HP need to know two things, how much you paid for, and confirmation of model no: 450 G3 - P5T14ET.
They need to a scan of your invoice when you apply. If 450 G3 - P5T14ET is not on invoice, you will need to upload a photo of the sticker on the box showing 450 G3 - P5T14ET as well.
£125 trade-up cashback
Apply straight away after you got your invoice. There is no brand restriction. You can give HP your old device in whatever brands.
If you are claiming as individual end user, answer as follows:
Are you a UK VAT registered business? answer No.
Customer Type, answer "Small Business (1-10 staff)".
The conditions are:
1. Trade-in device must be fully working conditions. Any part not working, HP will take money off.
2. Tablet not less than 9 inch, laptop not less than 10 inch.
3. If you trade in PC/laptop originally comes with Win XP, no age restriction.
If you trade in PC/laptop originally comes with system other than XP, no more than 6 years old.
Cheapest way, you have an old one not needed.
The next is by a xp laptop off ebay for £20-30, a lot work because you have to make sure everything is fully function (battery etc).
The easiest way if you do not have an old device, is to buy a 9 inch tablet for less than £50, you only need to make sure the tablet is fully working. 2nd hand cheap ones especially those from China, or Nook HD+ from CeX.

I opened the back and can confirm there is a SATA connector for a HDD.
There is a free SATA connector, you can buy a 2TB 2.5 inch HDD for around £50 and put in for storage. You can have both 128GB SSD and 2TB HDD at the same time.
Model number is 450 G3 - P5T14ET Individual end users can claim both cashbacks on one laptop. It has always been the case in the past. HP never ask a question.

I see the trade-in cashback terms were better at the time of your post. Then, you could trade-in any old XP machine of any age. If I could do that now I'd be going for this new deal.

This Elitebook is nice too. It is only let down by underpowered A6. It may be ok for some day-to-day tasks.
This new probook i3 is more than twice powerful than the A6, much more capable, plus integrated HD Graphics 520 GPU is more powerful.
The Elitebook has 900 resolution is a plus. Is the Elitebook cashback still available?

No, you can buy from anyone, unless the cashback page states from particular seller. I have seen cashback only available to purchases from ebuyer.
This models does not limit to any seller. So should be fine to purchase from elsewhere.
Make sure the mode is exactly right as 450 G3 - P5T14ET.

Ignore the HP pavillion at £300, the other business laptops are so much better.
CPU: I expect the A10 should be slightly more powerful, not a lot.
GPU: Not sure, both are quite good for integrated, have not seen direct comparision, I have only seen compare to A8 R6 and HD Graphics 520 is better.
Memory: A10 has 8GB, this one has 4GB. Memory can be upgraded easily and cheaply. My suggestion is do not put too much emphasis on memory when come to computer if it can be upgraded. (There are some laptops has RAM soldered to the motherboard.)
There are some models put in 16GB RAM unnecessarily, and ask for lot of money. And people see 16GB RAM and thought it is high end and just jump on the deal. It is a mis-perception by a lot of people.
Battery: i3 should have more than 7 hours, A10 is 3 hours.
Price: i3 is very good if you get all cashbacks.
Storage: The A10 only has a SATA, it comes with 1TB HDD. If you want SSD, the HDD needs to come out.
The i3 has 128GB M.2 SATA SSD, the M.2 SSD is more expensive than 1TB HDD. You might be able to put in a 2.5 inch HDD for storage if there is a free SATA connector. I do not have conformation of this yet.
If I am to choose from those two, I would go for the i3. I always got all HP cashbacks, never had problem. Good battery, fast M.2 SSD, powerful too, option to expand storage (let's hope), and cheap.
If you can get all cashbacks, you really cannot get anything better for £175. Even you only get it to £300, I still think it is very good consider i5-5200u with HDD is £330.

Hi thanks for your post.
Would a Hp 9.7" Web OS tablet qualify for trade in?
On this link if you scroll down to 'Storage device and memory card reader', it says and shows there is a spare m2 slot - the laptop being reviewed has a normal HDD in it so does that mean the one in this thread should have a spare SATA if the m2 is being used?

huangxq2
16 Mar 161#46
I thought the same as you too. But I have been given evidence it is not the case in the past.
450/455 are the same form and cases. Both have room for SATA and M.2.
450 G2 has HDD, and has a free M.2.
455 G3 has HDD, and the M.2 connector is actually taken out, just a empty space there.
450 G3 has M.2 SSD, does the SATA connector stay?
I would think that 450 G3 using M.2, the SATA connector should still be there. But I cannot be sure if HP has not taken it out. Which is why I would like confirmation before I states it as absolute.

My Satellite pro has windows 7 installed, but the original OS was windows XP. What can I do for this laptop to be accepted? The only sticker that I have is a windows 7 one, and the letters are really difficult to see because it had duct tape on it.
So if this computer is not accepted as it is, do you think that if I take a Windows XP sticker from an old laptop that this will work ?

Thanks ordered! Should run like a beast once I get Linux installed
So different websites give slight different results which happens just turn it the other way because those two have quite similar scores.
I think it is fair to say that the i3-6100U has similar powers as i5-5200U, not far off.
Either way, it is a quite powerful U version CPU for laptop standards, and will certainly have more than enough power for any normal usage.

I've only used a 840 G1, but I would say it's not so much that they have gone down in quality, it's more that with the 840 at under 2KG while still using a metal chassis they are no longer as sturdy as the older 2.4KG+ 8470p and so on.
The 840 is basically an Ultrabook (very thin) but still has a tool-less service trapdoor and two SoDIMMs (unlike the competing Lenovo Thinkpads). Pity the hinge doesn't open more. Also, make sure to get a backlit keyboard as unlike Thinkpads there is no ThinkLight.
Oh, and HP came to some sense with M.2 slot on the G2: it's not 2260 not 2242 (irony was that on the G1, 2242 would have fitted but the put a permanent metal bolt in the way).

There were some people who were asking about the term that cannot combine promotions etc. This is just to give them some comfort that they can claim both.
Processors are at par in terms of performance. Intel machine here will be good for battery performance, AMD machine will not give good battery performance. AMD is £289 after cashback. This machine is £175 after cashback. On this basis alone, this machine is better by a mile than the amd one considering price and performance

Normally you have to wait a period of time (30 days) for these types of cashback claims - so if you've purchased today you may have to wait until 30 days from now to submit your claim. I'm not entirely sure this is the case, but it normally is - best to read the Ts & Cs.

On behalf of everybody who has posted in this thread, I'd like to thank huangxq2 for all the assistance he has given to us all in his responses to our queries. I hesitated because I'd like something with a similar price and spec but a little smaller, say 13.5 or 14" screen, and missed out. Most of the HPs of that size are either Chromebooks or they are considerably more expensive. Thanks, huangxq2 !

17 Mar 16#192
Then it is a case different HP employees give out different answer. That is very typical in most of large corporations.
I and many others here can guarantee you that HP cashbacks have been there for over a year, they have said yes and told us the way to answer the questions. And we got our cashbacks, never been asked a question in addition.
Trade-up can be claimed straight away. If you are in doubt, do not open the box. Apply and upload your invoice and possibly the tag on the box showing exactly model. It takes 1 to 2 working days for them to valid your claim. If they reject your claim which is very unlikey, and you do not want it at £300 (you can still get £50 cashback), return the laptop as you have 14 days from receiving delivery under DSR. You should heard the result long before 14 days if you apply quickly.
By the way, even at £300 this laptop is a good deal.
At £300 at the moment, you can only find budget consumer laptop with i5-5200u, HDD not SSD.

Just had the cashback refused because I already applied for the trade-in. Seems like HP have changed from both cashbacks to either/or. Used to be a good deal getting both cashbacks. With only single cashback it's not worth it IMO. Shame as I used to like upgrading my laptops this way.... HP Probooks aren't necessarily worth that premium price IMO without the dual cashbacks so will think twice in future.

2. Tablet not less than 9 inch, laptop not less than 10 inch.
3. If you trade in PC/laptop originally comes with Win XP, no age restriction.

Thanks a lot for your replies. Looks like I have a purchase to make !!
Would a Hp 9.7" Web OS tablet qualify for trade in?
http://www.ebuyer.com/735558-hp-250-g4-laptop-t6p47ea-abu
250 is HP consumer laptop, they are bad bad quality.
You will notice the quality from the first touch. It is not something you only imagine. And HP consumer laptops do not last from what people told me.
Besides the specs is similar to this one, I do not know if the 250 G4 qualify for cashback because I cannot tell the exact model.
You get better laptop for cheaper with 450 G3.
On tablet, no age restriction, no restriction on brand, no restriction on system.
As long as not less than 9 inch and fully working.
On this link if you scroll down to 'Storage device and memory card reader', it says and shows there is a spare m2 slot - the laptop being reviewed has a normal HDD in it so does that mean the one in this thread should have a spare SATA if the m2 is being used?
If you already have the exact laptop, could you open the back and let us know if it has a free SATA connector and room for a 2.5 inch HDD?
I really like Win7 Pro.
How is Win10 Pro?
P5T14ET is the unique model number.
Do you know the answer regarding put in a 2.5 inch HDD?
3. This offer may not be combined with any other promotion.
Whether or not they abide by this is another matter but it would certainly seem that you can't combine the promotions and therefore the OP should be changed to reflect this.
Would still be a good deal mind.
There were a lot discussions about that last year.
In the end, we claimed both. HP did not even ask a question about it.
It is not XP, and it will most likely be more than 6 years old.
Thanks in advance.
If the laptop/PC originally comes with XP, there is no age restriction. You only to make sure it is fully working.
That is even better.
I would think upgrade to Win 10 Pro (if needed) is easier than trying to back from Win10 Pro to Win7 Pro.
I found Win7 Pro very good. I do not plan to upgrade to Win10 Pro any time soon.
Thanks in advance, Pedro
The only thing is that the battery doesn't hold a charge at all and powers off without mains power.
I noticed this in the terms - so in my case there may be a deduction for the battery not working.
Non qualifying trade-ins will be subject to the following deductions:
Battery worn out / failed £20
Cracked / damaged casing / Heavily Scratched £20
Dead Motherboard £50
Missing 1 or more keys from keyboard £10
Missing/ Failed Power Supply £20
Permanent marking (etched / asset tag) £20
Power on password locked Not eligible for promotion
"For your Trade-in to qualify for the promotion it must be a working, complete and undamaged, (reasonable wear and tear accepted) Laptop (minimum 10” screen size), Tablet (minimum 9” screen size) or Desktop. Your Trade-in must be no more than 6 years old (age limitations are not applicable to genuine Microsoft XP computers) and complete with all accessories including working battery and power supply where applicable".
I am not sure on keyboard and mouse.
They are small. If you do not need them, put keyboard and mouse in.
I have always give them fully working device. I got full amounts for the 5 laptops I applied for. So I am not sure how good they check everything.
BQ216HPAF63
Probably good for those not wishing to take the trade in offer, bringing the total to £286.38 after the £50 cashback.
Even this seems a really good price for this laptop.
4% quidco is worth going through however
Unless someone is not plan to get trade-up cashback, so it would not matter.
I am also not sure if discount code will invalidate cashback. Anyone in doubt please contact HP.
The options are just "business" or "school"?
It states in the cashback section:
"This offer may not be combined with any other promotion."
Surely claiming both is a combination?
If HP took out the SATA connector, I would think that is a quick silly thing to do. But we shall wait for confirmation.
So we bought HP laptops, claimed both. No one ask any questions. Both cashbacks received fine.
Just ignore that rule when consider both cashback and trade-up cashback. If you are not comfortable please contact HP.
Not sure if both cashbacks can be combined with other promotions.
Not sure if the option is available now but I bought a 3 year on-site support warranty for £42 on the HP site too.
Do you have the exact same one with M.2 SSD?
If yes, could you do a favour for us? Can you open the back to see if there is a free SATA connector and space to put in a 2.5 inch HDD?
Thanks in advance.
But the easiest way is go to BIOS, there should be a date. That date is the manufacturing date of the motherboard.
I can only presume that is a good approximation of age of a laptop.
If I wiped the hdd but still have the sticker is that good enough?
Will open the service door to see if there is space for a HDD tonight.
That just to give most of things on specs and price.
If I do not give them out, people will ask anyway.
But I have been wrong in the past on Probook 455 G3 with the free M.2 slot, and given wrong advice.
So before I say the SATA on 450 G3 is there, it is better to have confirmation from someone has the laptop.
Good for you that they worked out for you.
I always thought they have to have everything working, so they can switch on and test.
From your experience, may be they do not have to be.
But it is a risk though.
Check if the space and SATA connector both there, please.
https://hpcashback.com/gb/en/pages/cashback/qualifying
At worst, just replace the CD caddy with a HD caddy.
Probook are good quality, we use them at work. Other people confirmed they are good too.
840 is Elitebook which is even higher. But I have not used Elitebook yet. I have heard from someone, Elitebook has gone done in quality recently, they are more like Probook now.
So, I cannot quite answer your question.
Elitebook tend to be very expensive. There was a recent Elitebook 745 very cheap, but the CPU is a weak A6 which put people off.
450 G2 with slightly smaller battery, with i5-5200U and HDD last over 7 hours.
450 G3 with i5-6200U, HDD and FHD screen last 5:37 hours.
This 450 G3 with SSD and non-FHD should last 7 hours.
But that is only the last resort and only if the user do not need the DVD-RW.
I will try to get confirmation of SATA anyway. It is good to find out if there are more options open.
If HP say it is ok to not have a system on the old device, then it is ok.
Thank you.

So if this computer is not accepted as it is, do you think that if I take a Windows XP sticker from an old laptop that this will work ?
He had similar problem. He contacted HP and easily sorted it.
i3-6100U is NOT score higher than i5-5200U
http://cpuboss.com/cpus/Intel-Core-i5-5200U-vs-Intel-Core-i3-6100U
http://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Intel-Core-i5-5200U-vs-Intel-Core-i3-6100U/m22169vsm37381
Anyway I think this is what can be described as 'splitting hairs', either way it's great cpu performance for a laptop
After you apply for cashback, HP will validate your claim, then they will email you instructions and postage label.
There were some people who were asking about the term that cannot combine promotions etc. This is just to give them some comfort that they can claim both.
This one or

I have done a detailed comparison in post 29 for someone already.
Please have a look.
The A10 is now sold out anyway.
I had an old Xp that works but is very slow (think it may be on last legs). Will this be accepted?
https://tradeuptohp.com/gb/en/pages/tradein/home
On this (if i'm on the right area) says its available to businesses only.
Am i on the right bit?
Individual end users can claim both cashbacks on the laptop.
Please read my post 1 and 25 for summary, that is most of things you need to know about HP cashbacks.
Everything in the summary already confirmed with HP and put into practise, their terms are more strict in writing than they actually are.
HP ProBook 450 - i5 6th gen - as I have a spare Samsung EVO 256gb SSD, how much better is it than your deal ie the HP Probook 450 G3 with an i3?
http://store.hp.com/UKStore/Merch/Product.aspx?id=P4P38ET&opt=ABU&sel=NTB
My order hasn't been confirmed yet, certainly hope it does and wouldn't be happy if it didn't.
£50 cashback apply 30 days after invoice date.
Details all in post 1 and 25.
This deal is quite short lifed, only available for less than a day. Guess that is normal for a lot of good deals here.
Just got confirmation that, it has space and free SATA connector to put in a 2.5 inch HDD. Another plus point. (credit to somebody).
FHD, SSD, I36100U for (potentially) £175 on a "premium" laptop is probably not going to happen anytime soon.
My other A10 Probook deal at £290 after cashback is out of stock anyway.
I would like to thank you for this since I wouldn't find this deal without your valuable information.
Cheers,
Pedro
Worth keeping an eye on it as it may come down further.
Completed Trade up lark, and took old PC to PO this PM..........will it come off?.....time will tell
I'm waiting for previous price.
Ordered yesterday just after 5pm before the price change and delivered before 12pm today.
Anyway just checked the old HP Win XP Home laptop that I wanted to trade in and the battery is faulty and maybe the trackpad, typical. :disappointed:
I could declare the faulty battery and take the £20 hit.
I also have an unopened 32GB HP Touchpad with a bunch of accessories which I could probably sell separately.
So I guess my question is which one does anyone consider more worthless?
If I don't receive any news tomorrow ill drop them a call, not impressed though.
It stated delivery within 48 hours, why not wait to see if they deliver before being unimpressed
I imagine they do it on a batch cycle - once per day at the end of the day ready for the next day courier pickup.
Fingers crossed the cashback claims all go through, but from what everyone else has said it sounds like it won't be a problem...
208 compare to 175, difference £33.
Re-post a deal with new prices. Link see below.
http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/http-store-hp-com-ukstore-merch-product-aspx-id-p5t14et-opt-abu-sel-ntb-2415061
Would they accept it or would they deduct a certain amount off?
Does it need to have an XP sticker to be valid (or just that it originally came with XP?)?
Would I have to send in KB mouse etc with the desktop unit as it says all accessories?
Thoughts please! Thanks
EDIT: Mine has just turned to Validated this afternoon
I think even without the £50 cashback, it still works out cheaper than a budget consumer laptop at £300.
Do you agree?
So you have not paid anything extra for its premium quality over a budget consumer laptop.
