At risk of seeming a little arch, but when you're writing sentences like that you'd think that having fewer words on the front of packets would be a welcome relief.

The relevance of chocolate eggs at easter is to ensure children become obese and diabetic, thus experiencing suffering in their lives the same as Jesus did.

Without wanting to sound pedantic, my understanding of Easter is that it was meant to commemorate the suffering of Christ and dying for us. That is according to Christian belief and I am not religious myself. However at no point do I remember reading about how his disciples consoled themselves by tucking into a big chocolate egg for comfort food. Chocolate itself not being invented until after the industrial revolution in Europe many centuries later. So I would say not calling it an Easter egg is probably less to do with political correctness than might be thought and actually preserves the real culture and tradition of Easter more than Cadburys and mars culture. Like I said I am not religious and could not care less if you call it an Easter egg or a 'gift of future diabetes by encouraging mass consumption of unnecessary refined sugars' but find it so amusing that people can get so worked up over the rebranding of confectionery while people are dying in wars and our civil liberties are being eroded without the same irate anger. #perspective

They'll stop printing the words 'Christmas tree' on our Christmas trees next. It's political correctness gone mad.

It's always amusing to see people so obsessed with "saving English culture" are happy to completely butcher the English language!
Though I'd imagine they don't have Easter printed on them because they're trying to look classy, not for "political correctness". Easter is even more secular than Christmas anyway, and that's saying something!

Just for clarity's sake, I should point out I don't genuinely think it has anything to do with political correctness - a chocolate egg at Easter is pretty clearly an Easter egg. Always risky writing anything ironically on the internet!

Like most of our 'religious' festivals, hijacked from the Pagans by Christianity.
Be an atheist & enjoy the chocolate.

Most Christian festivals have their links in pagan rituals. In this imstance Easter represents rebirth.

Easter eggs are a complete rip off. If you look at the weight of chocolate you get for the price, it is far better value to go and buy a big bar of chocolate (if choccy is your thing of course)

That's the spirit at this time of peace, tolerance and understanding - poke fun at someone with an inferior command of the English language than you. I hope your Mam confiscates your Easter eggs!

I'd recheck the Easter story if I were you. Nailing someone onto a cross isn't a top way to promote peace, tolerance and understanding... Hiding my eggs away just in case though.

Something I find equally amusing. God sacrifices himself to himself so he can forgive us for something someone else did. Not to mention the ridiculous claim that its a sacrifice to die on Earth and enter heaven - isn't that what we're all meant to be aspiring to? No wonder the religious are so loopy if this is the stuff they find convincing!
