It's not bad for the price, but for anyone looking to do trails/bike parks with it, should be looking at better equipped bikes.
If I was looking to get started I would get a Boardman Comp 650b. Halfords have 2014 stock for £450 down from £600 odd at the minute. Lighter, better fork, hydraulic brakes and a 27 speed gear set, which most people would run a single ring at the crank and 9 at the back. Good for most UK trails and all in under £500.

Or take the better bike, learn how to maintain it yourself, and ride it more before reaching its limits.

nice to see VW's have come down in price due to their 'mistake'. Once everyone has forgotten about them prioritising profit over pollution, their prices will creep back up to overcharging us just for that badge. If you really need a VW though nows the time when deals will be had.
