i bought the dc34 last year thinking it would be great for the car. but be warned, once its charged it only lasts about 15 minutes. So now i still use the dc29 to do the car so i can spend longer than 10-15 mins doing the mats, boot etc.

I think some people have a different view on the purpose of the site. It's seems foolhardy not to approach the question of what constitutes a deal without a more comprehensive appraisal of the value of a given product as opposed to the simple "this is the best price for item x" model

We've just bought a DC55 and in all honesty, I'm amazed at how well it performs!! We vacuumed through with the old Dyson and then used the DC55, the bin was half full at the end, the stuff it brought out of the carpet was incredible!
Pros:
Its more powerful than anything I've ever used
It has lots of extra tools
Its easy to empty
The power cord is v.long, we didn't have to keep unplugging and moving to a close socket
Its easy to assemble
Downsides:
Its heavy and takes some getting used to manoeuvre it
Its VERY powerful, we tried hovering the bathroom mats and it nearly ate them, even the tool thing nearly sucked the fibres out, it just made it impossible to work.
It doesn't have the same indestructible feel of the old machine
Overall, its an expensive product BUT it clearly does the job. We paid £299 for ours and with a 5yr warranty I think its probably worth it
I realise not for everyone but you can also pay monthly with PayPal Credit - over 6,12,18 or 24 months.

Bought mine much cheaper from currys at Christmas, the sales guy told me they regularly hike up the price when doing a deal to make it look better. It's a good deal if you're prepared to spend that money or you can wait till the price drops and not get a second vacuum. The big ball animal is outstanding. We vacuumed our lounge with our old Dyson then went over it again with the animal and it picked up loads lol

Just another solution to a problem that doesn't exist. You'll always be better with a cord so just stick to what's effective. Same with wifi tech, although it's getting better if you can hard wire it without too much difficulty it's a no brainier.
But a free Hoover with a standard purchase seems a decent enough deal if your interested.

I did see ure deal Shaun. I think it's down to what part of the deal people highlight. You highlighted the more expensive one and even rounded it up - £340 instead of £399.99 (phycology of pricing) But what was even better about the deal was that u only even have to spend £299.99 - this stands out to people as an even better deal. But then again I'm no pro

No - one of dysons biggest selling points is that ALL of their vacuum cleaners come with a STANDARD 5 year warranty. It's part the reason they command a premium. No quibble parts and labour. No worries for 5 years. Yes others are cheaper but only come with 1/2 years normally

You have to adjust it yourself (with your foot) I found it tricky to start with but getting the hang of it. ace_rees

From what I have seen most of those are not genuine parts. This makes them more inclined to lose efficiency at that point so you would be buying a very expensive piece of kit and then limiting its potential right at the start.
ace_rees
30 Mar 161#98
Mine arrive this morning and I have tried both and I'm quite impressed overall and I'm not disappointed spending that much either but I think most of the money is on the 5 year guarantee TBH I already had a competitors animal equivalent and that was good and a lot cheaper but the floor foot did tangle and needed a lot of maintenance to get it back to like new performance. The DC 34 is a gimmick in my opinion it's a bit helpful for hard to reach areas or the car maybe but it's not that powerful and does run out quite quickly however it does make those hard to reach areas much easier to do so maybe I will be more inclined to do them more frequently and therefore it won't take as long to do. Also my boy who is 4 is happy enough to clean his room and odd bits with it whilst I was testing the DC54 animal :-) Anyway I'm happy overall and think it is not bad value for money considering the 5 year guarantee! Hope this helps someone else who is thinking about buying the deal
