Should be good quality as well! Pity it doesn't state the HP.

This, or the £99 one from Homebase?

My advice, stay away from cheap lawn mowers you really do get what you pay for!
Notice the cheap plastic pull cord handle, just give it a pull just to see how many times it jams up?

I would like to know how heavy it is and if it the grass in stripes. I have to say I will be surprised if I get a reply to this as I have never had a reply from Lidl having sent many emails.

How does this compare to the £179 machine currently on offer at aldi?

I am not sure if it's still true, but priority one for a lawnmower is making sure it has a Briggs and Stratton motor, then the rest of it is typically pretty generic and subject to taste/quality (e.g. ergonomics, quality of plastics, aesthetics).

If that's your measure it would have to be Honda!
B&S may be better than many no-name chinese brands but they really aren't all that great. Crankshaft seal went on mine after limited use and it became an oil spreader!
