Speaking form experience I can highly recommend. I bought one about 18 months ago for the GF and initially it ran like a dog. Formatting everything (remember UEFI, Secure Boot) solved that, clean install of Windows 8.1 and it was flying, followed up by clean install of Windows 10 about November '15. My girlfriend uses it daily but her eyesight is better than mine.
It is great for travels, we do a long haul once per year get off plane and still going, has mini hdmi and micro usb, grab a couple of cables (2-3 pounds) and you are sorted - if you fancy early night plug in hdmi to room TV and watch a movie - in addition probably same charger as your phone - less to carry. I have Anker powerbank to charge but not been used so far.
Weight excluding anything, 1118g in total, keyboard 528g, tablet 590g so bag of sugar - just weighed on kitchen scales
Android cant comment as above formatted very soon after having.
Hope helps

Just wanted to say that after returning my virus ridden tablet, the Laptop Outlet tech support staff were able to kill it and returned it virus free. I also want to applaud them for having a non premium rate tech support number. I've just done the Windows 10 upgrade. I have to say this is a great machine for the money. Bargain

I take it all back, sorry laptop outlet! I discovered that the reason mine wasn't charging was because I plugged in the wrong charger! I'd plugged in my phone charger instead of the supplied Asus one. Now it's fully charged and working perfectly, loving it!

I bought one of these a week ago, from laptopoutlet, as advertised. It arrived in a basic brown cardboard box with no literature, or anything about warranty etc. It had no charge, so I had to charge it up overnight before it would switch on. I updated it to Win 10 with no problems (I did a lot of online research first for tips, put a 32Gb micro SD card in before starting, but it still took about 6 hours to download and install.
But then it was fine - fairly fast too, and I found the screen resolution very good.
The second day, it wouldn't wake up, and I had to hold the button down for about 10 seconds to start it.
Third day, fine again. It's fairly light, and I put it in my handbag to go shopping and used it in the coffee shop wifi with no problems.
Fourth day - it wouldn't power up at all. It's been on charge now for 24 hours, and there's a red light on, but it still won't charge fully, and won't come on.
I've just contacted the company via Ebay and requested a return. Will probably get the same response as Scotte. Trouble is, even if they send me a replacement, I don't think I'll ever trust it : (

windows 10 install failing due to hd space? sure i read about needing to use sd card? i have kept 8.1 as wasn't sure if battery life sustained as it is great for battery on 8.1

Not because of space, I inserted a 64gb micro SD card
I might keep it as 8.1 though I don't really like it
On a side note, can anyone recommend a good cheap case that will fit tablet with keyboard attached. Thanks

I bought one from amazon warehouse, and it looks perfect, however its missing the key for office and I can't get the windows 10 update to work - it keeps failing
I don't want to do a clean install as I have 3 months to return it
Anyone had similar problems?

oh my.... that is awful! so someone had it infected and sent it back? sh#t. that is bad to then give that to someone else?! why couldn't they restore to factory settings when refurbishing?

17 Mar 16#54
Mine arrived today, physically perfect, but infected with 103 variants of the expiro.gen virus! Which reinstalls itself after each clean. It has blocked my admin rights, stopped Windows updates process, switched off the windows security centre, switched off windows factory reset, switched on WiFi which I switched off while deleting it. And probably more besides. I can't kill it, the machine is going to have to go back.

My wife has had one of these for about 6 months. When it works, it works well, but there are issues:
- she gets alot of "out of memory" errors (even when there's only 1 application open)
- the keyboard often becomes completely unresponsive (often after the screen has been detached and replaced)
- it will often not resume when the power button is pressed - she needs to hold the power button down for 15 seconds and do a cold reboot.
She upgraded to Windows 10 a couple of weeks ago. The memory issue hasn't recurred yet, but the other 2 issues have remained.

I'll post later regarding the battery. A friend of mine has had one for a while and warned me not to run the battery totally flat is is can render the tablet unusable for a few hours until it takes a charge so he generally doesn't let it go beyond 10% remaining. Updates to follow.

Get where you are coming from now! Suppose this is personal preference thing, me given my eyesight 1080p would actually put me off this, agree that text would be clearer but navigation, icons and programs not to mention my fat fingers would mean interaction in tablet mode would be tricky at 1080p. I also have an Acer Iconia W3-810, smaller size (8") higher PPI and if being honest only use for videos and music on travels, impractical for most other things - but could be my fat fingers.
All I can do is speak from my own experience of actually owning the machine, given the price point (think I paid double) a full blown Windows machine, with keyboard, good battery - would I buy again -YES!

Amazing deal, so head added!
I see there is an Amazon deal giving £20 off a spend of £100. I am torn between getting this from ebay for just £99 or some tablet / convertable from Amazon. I guess I am deciding between good options - which is nice.
Has anyone compared this with the Linx 1000B?
MrPuddington
14 Mar 16#35
Since we are talking about a 10" screen, that is very much the same, isn't it?
For a portable device, I prefer 300 dpi, which is nice and sharp, and no pixels are visible. 200 dpi is ok, but in direct comparison it is not as clear as 300 dpi, especially for text. Everything below 200 dpi (and this one is) makes reading text harder, so it is not for me.
Some people disagree for laptops, where 720p is still a pretty common resolution. But I don't think anybody is seriously disputing the benefit of higher resolution screens on a tablet.
wstrainer
13 Mar 16#34
@MrPuddington, forgive my ignorance could I ask are you talking about resolution or pixels per inch (ppi) for touchscreen?
MrPuddington
13 Mar 16#33
Indeed, a decent 10inch tablet has 1440p. Mostly because a tablet is not a laptop, and this one is trying to be both.

Tempted, the T100 is certainly an impressive 2-in-1 device. The only detail I am not happy with is the screen resolution of 1366x768. I would expect 1080p or 1200p, although that does mean paying a bit more.

Again from my experience battery life is fine, without testing I would say upwards of 6 hours, my GF uses 3/4 times a week for 1-2 hours, surfing, email, videos before needing to charge - easiest way to describe is we forget to charge as in we don't put on charge every night. We use a 5v/1.2amp charger and I would say about 4 hours to fully charge, if you have a 5v/2amp then sure that would be a lot quicker.
Just to clarify that the above is on a clean install of Windows 10 not an upgrade, I found the Asus software (nagware) a pain in proverbial and was fortunate enough to have access to Windows 10 through work so understand might not be possible for everyone. If you can and wish to do that then you need to disable 'secure boot' in UEFI (Bios), then you can install from a USB drive with the appropriate cable.
On the quote about 1080p resolution I would have to say no, no, no. You would need to have better than 20/20 vision if there is such a thing. I haven't checked but the Micro HDMI may be able to output 1080p, if I get a chance later I will check

12 Mar 16#23
the fact it can be charged by usb and powerbank was also key for me. one less adapter to bring on trips and also emergency charging possible. again. batteries weakest link. battery prices fall 16pc per year but transistor prices 40pc

I have it. Love it. IIRC the battery draining issue was solved shortly after it was released with a firmware update. I updated it immediately after getting it and have had no issue, it is a real workhorse battery life wise, only downside is lack of storage but that can be remedied somewhat with an SD card and a small profile USB flash drive.

Pretry poor reviews, even at this price you'd expect the thing to work reliably, even if a bit slow but seems like lots of hardware related issues.
