Got this RAM in my system currently and possibly considering ordering this now to upgrade to 16GB... Great stuff!

Unless your compressing huge files or using virtualization software, as things stand currently your money would be better spent on other parts of your system.
8GB is the perfect amount atm and doubling up ram will see no performance gains at all.
That said, for anyone with 4GB this is a good deal, heat added!
great article explaining why 16GB is not needed: 8gb-vs-16gb-ram

laughable article. do you know why they had a performance drop at 16gb... they used all 4 slots and put 4gb in each as apposed to using 2x8gb sticks. when you use all 4 you drop a little performance. its also why they think upgrading later is a better idea than future proofing.
in the long run 2 8gb sticks is better for performance than adding 2 more sticks of 4gb later so if performance is the goal it means that you would throw away (or ebay) the 2 4gb sticks and all out replace them with 2x8gb sticks.
As for if you can use more than 8gb? well I have 8gb and mines regularly about full when gaming. I'm planning an upgrade and its not for anything odd like compression and no its not a laptop or shared graphics using up some of my ram.
while I admit today I don't need any more ram to game if I were buying today I would want to game tomorrow too. however I have been using the same ram for 4 years now and people thought I was mad when I got 8gb then and they all were building 4gb machines and saying that was all they needed.
The only thing performance wise that I upgraded on my gaming machine is graphics cards since 2012, its just starting to show its age so at some point soon it will be upgraded and will have 16gb (unless I get a good deal on 32)
