Discounted from £34.99 per month listed until 14/04/2016. Just upgraded my sim only contract to this over the phone so quite a good deal compared to EE's other SIM only contracts at present.

Edit for more info and clarification:

This is a Mobile SIM for 12 months and an 'EE Extra' plan so you get Unlimited Minutes/Texts along with the 16GB data and anything included with the Extra plan (double speed, use minutes/texts in EU etc.)

TopCashback now £52.50.

id guess you'd have to work for the NHS.

It's an employer discount. Mine is a large insurance firm and we have this with ee and vodafone.

imagine its a corporate discount offered by the phone companies to large enough employers.

you're best to check with your employer, they no doubt will have something internal telling you how to get the discount, whether its a code or a process (with me its ringing a set number and setting the discount up) if they do it.

on here -

http://shop.ee.co.uk/my-offers/sim-only

this is showing up as -

16GB of 4GEE data

Unlimited minutes & texts

£16.49 a month (was £34.99)
£0 upfront

However, why do these phone companies have to do a credit check?

This is only £16.49 a month and i bet you if you dont pay they will cut you off, so why the credit check, they are not potentially losing anything other than a sim card?

p.s.

for existing customers only so that why its
£16.49

so a relative can get you this at this price then
Coreydeals
30 Mar 16 #29
Apparently it is only available online now. I know you used to be able to get the discount in store. It should be available via the NHS discount website which you should be able to Google. You should then be able to access the discount and get a unique discount code which you can enter on the ee website and obtain the discount. If that doesn't work, contact your workplace or the relative or friend who works for the NHS which then can check with them to then access the discount. If you don't work for the NHS or similar, but the company that you work for has a deal, check with your company about it and hopefully they should be able to send you in the right direction. Hope this helps.

No, BT only does standard speed 4G, unless you pay an upgrade of £4 a month if I remember. I'll try and find a link for you.

There we go: http://home.bt.com/tech-gadgets/phones-tablets/bt-mobile-extra-speed-4g-11364037773425

doncoop
30 Mar 16 1 #34
I'd say they are credit checking you because

1) they are giving you something (minutes, texts, data) on the basis you will pay for it over 12 months.
2) you can do a lot moer on a contract phone, such as ring premium rate numbers, rack up huge bills. Again, they're wanting to check you're good for your money

Wish the operators would set up a massive Data SIM with no regard for texts or calls.
I use PAYG for my call and texts and use messaging apps more than texts / calls because they are free.

Would never need unlimited texts and calls. Would much prefer 50GB data for this price with 1000 mins and 1000 texts.

I have been looking for something since my EE 100GB is going to expire soon. I got the 50GB Vodafone offer but on live chat they said tethering is not allowed on PAYG SIMS.

Sadly deal did not go through with the NHS discount - gave me a number to call to confirm details but when phoning says they have currently closed the line due to a high volume of calls. Spoken to the sales team who said it was due to the NHS discount that the order did not go through but they could redo it. Downside of that is I wouldn't get the cashback through TCB. Has any one else had any success?
Coreydeals to AD7
30 Mar 16 #76
You most likely wouldn't have received the cashback anyway. If I remember correctly, in the terms it mentions about cashback won't be paid if a discount code is used, including corporate etc. The terms may have changed since I last checked, but that was the case when I last remember.

This seems to be what it shows on quidco, so would imagine it would be the same case with tcb:

Cashback will not be paid in conjunction with any other offer, voucher or discount code unless listed on this page, or with any other discounts such as staff or student discounts

ring up Three once you've got your new EE sim.

request PAC code.

then follow this: https://ee.co.uk/help/getting-started/joining-ee/keeping-your-number

I've just ordered. Works out roughly £15.20 per month after £57.75 TCB.

Plus double speed 4G. I think I'll be happy. Just a shame about the data abroad, loved Three for that!

Looking at this offer seems to be best out, especially with possible cashback.

If you're relying on the cash back it's a risk. As they do state the advertised amount they pay us an "upto" amount, and in the T&C's they do say the amount may change.

Looks like they have put the amount up so even better if you sign up now.

Decisions decisions. Knowing my luck I won't be paid out. Do I go for the "existing customer offer" and use my PAYG EE sim as the existing customer line, or go in as a new customer and get it for (potentially) cheaper

Just ordered, canceled three (got a letter anyway) and got my code (they did offer me 30gb, unlim msg&txt for £20, got a callback after 3 min that offer doesn't exist anymore - BYE). Hopefully Topcashback tracks at £57.

Has anybody who ordered this received the SIM, or had a text message to say that it is on its way? I ordered on Thursday but haven't had confirmation that the SIM is on its way. I want to order again for a second line for my wife, but will need to have received my SIM and set up the account before I can do that.

YMMV. I often see people praising Three's network outside of London. In London, I haven't gone anywhere where Three signal or speed has been better than EE.

Customer service wise, I have no idea. Must say EE have been pretty good to me though. They gave me 20gb, unlimited calls and text for £18 a month
K0YS
4 Apr 16 #137
No idea what YMMV Is lol. I get around 20+mbits at home off peak which is 20x faster than my home bb (East London tower Hamlets). Working in central London speeds are slower but calls are fine. The selling point for me was their tethering which I used for big downloads when in a hurry as my home bb peaks at 1.3mbits.
Their network is great and is only getting better, unlike their pricing. Their customers service always do a very hard sale over the phone, getting my PAC took me 25mins as they kept offering me deals already on their site. Was offered their repackaged One Plan with 32gb tether but that wasn't good enough for 20£ .
It's now between this deal at around 17ish£ after cash back or the iD deal for 12.50

The first guy offered me a few offers priced the same online. Explained to him what I'm after and as he can't meet it I'd rather take my pac. He's third offer was the new One Plan ad mentioned above for 30£. I didn't want it so he put me through to the actual cancellation guy who them offered me what you were offered but for 8£ was no good for me though.
Don't be rude to them or too persistent.

It shows as £34.99 in My EE for me to. I spoke with them on the phone and it definitely is £19.99 for me but the loyalty discount won't show until the next bill is generated. This happened when I got the half price tablet SIM too but it does show up.

Just called Three to request my PAC code on both my lines and before issuing they have just done me the following which I think is going to be impossible to beat

Unlimited mins
Unlimited text
30GB data (which can be tethered)

Just a warning. I signed up for this deal and received an email confirmation of the same.

I received the SIM today, registered it and signed up for a online account where you can check your first bill.

The price plan on the first bill stated £34.99 with no reduction.

I am on the phone to customer services.

leehardacre
7 Apr 16 1 #173
This quite simply shouldn't need to happen. New EE customer moving from a competitor onto a plan purchased directly through their website (to avoid hassle of third party involvement!) and it's not priced correctly!?

It isn't like it's just a few either, so many people having the same issue which should set alarm bells ringing.

I hope their network service is better than their customer service.

Check under the add-ons to see if there is anything showing since they fixed mine they've added loyalty discount x2 I wouldn't just go by what they've said as I had that at first and they hadn't fixed it at all just placed a note on the account not actually fixing it.

11 Apr 16 #178
I think the bills sorted will find out tomorrow when they actually take the first payment but they butchered up the number port got split service now and don't receive any calls or texts on the EE sim!!!!! Not the best first impressions of the network.
gjpgjp
11 Apr 16 #179
I now kinda wish I had stayed with 3.

I did think that porting your number was an easy process?!

However, my text messages don't arrive, I cant receive phone calls. But I can make calls and send text messages. They have "escalated" the issue

The bill was wrong - see my earlier comment and was supposedly fixed with "loyalty" credits that equate to £14.00 (should be £15.00).

What kind of network are they running?
leehardacre
11 Apr 16 #180
Unfortunately, the network with the largest customer base.

I was told my bill has been sorted but can't see any loyalty discounts yet so we will see. I'll use it as leverage if it's not corrected when the bill is due.

My number port was a breeze though so thumbs up there. Currently away in Scarborough so can't really comment on service yet but I've not seen a full strength signal from when it transferred at Leeds all the way here (I'm travelling).

How long has it taken for sims to arrive?

Do they also activate the account from the day your order or the day you insert and activate the sim?

Im thinking if it takes nearly a week to arrive and they activate from the order date then your loosing a weeks worth of rental and so should be due a refund.

22 Apr 16 #193
I placed my order on the 13th April, received email order confirmation shortly after. Then received the "..we're processing it at present.." SMS on the 15th, and nothing since. Call to EE this evening and I was told my order hadn't progressed past the credit check (which had passed). Apparently there is a glitch on their system with the automated order fulfillment system. So the lady manually pushed the order through, confirming that the first bill will be shown as £34.99 with two discounts at £5 and £10 applied to bring the total to £19.99. She also said my estimated bill date would be 25/05/2016, so I guess this would be from activation.

I've had my first bill through today for £35?!
StormChaseJG
25 Apr 16 #195
I just phoned them up and explained and they added a £15 credit to my account for the mix up it was because the discounts were added after the bill was generated so we're not applied but I did have to make sure they applied the discount when I first signed up otherwise this would happen every month.
