Will this connect to my Edimax powerline adapters, and broadcast from there?

No, it's not a powerline wireless extender. You'd need to plug your powerline next to it then plug in an Ethernet cable

I've had one of these in a cupboard for a while now. Never got it working properly. Wasn't therefore very impressed.

I don't really get the point of this. You have to plug an Ethernet cable into it for it to work?
Surely a powerline/homeplug wireless extender is a far more sensible solution.

It picks up your wireless signal and boosts it. You may be better using powerline adapters and an old router or a set of this type of thing.
