For those with kids that are hoping to get further afield for Easter then check out this week long break to Cuba. The holiday is based on 2A and 2C leaving from Manchester on 6th April and returning on 13th April. I know it may seem a long flight for a week, but when you get there its no more than 30 minutes in a taxi to your 4* resort where you and the kids can relax on amazing beaches with all-inclusive everything, 24 hours a day for a week on some of the best beaches in Cuba in an amazing resort! Is this appealing to you yet ;-)
The resort is the Iberostar Mojito and has great reviews and is right on the beach. I've not included transfers but I've allowed for a taxi. This is cheaper and easier and will cost no more than £25 for the return trip.
Flights are with Condor aka Thomas Cook and include 20kg of luggage per person, 6kg of hand luggage and include meals on board.
Breakdown
Flights book @ condor.com for 2A and 2C £1369.92
Hotel book @ lowcostholidays.com £645.89
Taxi cost £25 return trip
Total for family of 4 £2040.81/£510.20pp

Well my googling of various school Easter holidays has shown that most schools half term for Easter is then and the majority go back on 18th. Correct me if I'm wrong though because I'm relying on a handful of schools I've looked at on Google in Manchester, Midlands and Yorkshire.....

Agree, Cuba does have more too it than the resorts but for families wanting a break AI holiday a resort is likely to be more suitable for a week. I don't think the kids would enjoy rum drinking and cigar smoking (although I'm sure the parents would enjoy it)!

Easter holidays tend not to be fixed nationally... some schools will break up two weeks before Easter and go back on the Tuesday (day after Easter Monday). Others have a week before and a week after Easter and yet others break up on Mundy Thursday for two weeks.
It happens because easter is at a different time each year... some school stick to the same holiday pattern every year others vary it so the half terms in school, are approx. Six weeks either side of Easter.

Ah.... That explains it. The schools all local to me go back on 18th so I guess that this will suit some but not others......

I loved Cuba....but the all Inc's are not a patch on others in the Caribbean. Visit Havana, Trinidad, Cien Fuego, Santa Clara. Go dancing, walking, eating with the locals, drink rum, smoke cigars, watch baseball. Don't go all inclusive....... that's not what Cuba is about. Also avoid the Tropicana.

Sounds like you've been reading too many out of date rough guides or maybe its a while since you've been. Food quality in Cuba used to be the poor relation of the caribbean but things have improved a lot and most people will be more than happy now. Agree with all other comments although Tropicana still worth a visit if a little overpriced
