says 1 is stock at my local branch, but just rang up and it's not there. also comes up as 69.99 in store, but I assume if you find one they will price match website

Had to drop someone off at Heathrow for 6am today, so popped into both Feltham and Teddington/Twickenham stores who were showing two each in stock overnight. Feltham only had one, labelled 'Battery missing', so I legged it over to the other store. There were two in stock 'out the back'. On opening the first one, the battery was missing. The other one was sealed and complete with battery - yay! Went through at £42.49.
Moral of the story. If you find one in stock, check the box to make sure the battery is still inside before leaving the store.

Wish I'd seen 89quidyoucantgowrong post before I went though. Of the two in stock in Clifton I managed to get one with no battery and had to go back and swap for the remaining one. I made sure to check that before I drove away!

Yes, it was the apex roundabout store which had a repackaged one on display with a 'no battery' sticker - and apparently none out the back even though the website said two in stock.

Just went to get one in Newport as it was showing 3 in stock. Someone had just bought all 3, 10 minutes before. The woman then ordered from the main warehouse. I paid the discounted price to collect at a later date.

Just popped into B&Q and they have also reduced this item. Not by as much (£50), but still a good bargain. They had loads left too (Leicester)

We've been pottering around in the garden today to take advantage of the weather. The Mrs used it to tidy up a few shrubs and we gave a yew hedge that missed out on a trim lady autumn a going over. It sounds a bit puny when it's running but seems to cope fine.

I've had the 52cm version of this for about 8 years, great bit of kit and surprisingly capable.
The anti-blocking tech is good, the battery lasts yonks and there's no way I'd got back to the inconvenience of a corded one. It might not have the power of a decent petrol trimmer but neither does it come with the storage and servicing requirements.

It said online they had 3 in Chorley but after them looking in the back for 15 minutes they could only find a 50-26 that retails at £90-£120. The guy said I could have it for the same price if I wanted it. Then he put it through at £37 and I still got 15% off. Thanks OP!

While travelling to Staffordshire yesterday, I thought I'd pop into the Wigan branch where there was two showing as 'In Stock. Needn't have bothered as everywhere was closed all day on Easter Sunday, wasn't it?
So after the wasted detour to Wigan I found two showing as 'In Stock' in the Stafford branch. So, this morning, while travelling to the store, I got the missus to phone ahead and reserve both. I don't normally phone ahead in case it alerts staff to a bargain (usually Currys) but on this occasion it paid off and both hedgecutters were sitting on the customer service desk when I got there.
Before paying, I asked the guy to check one to see if the battery was present, which it was at which point I told him I only wanted one and paid the £42.50 and left.
In hindsight, I should have bought both and flogged one.
A bit late for the extra 15% Easter discount, but it may still be there tomorrow at the still reasonable price of £49.99

Got the last one at Hinckley today which was sealed, double checked the contents anyway before leaving the store and everything was in there. Used it this afternoon and I'm very impressed, an absolute bargain if you can find one.

The battery supplies DC current to drive a motor on defeat of the safety locking switch mechanism.
The rotational output of the motor is converted via a system of mechanical levers into a reciprocal motion which is used to drive a floating blade against a fixed blade.
Serrated and sharpened edges on both blades trap small branches and twigs between them, causing them to be cleanly separated from the bush, hedge or tree.
