Sony are taking the ****. I didn't buy a PS4 to play indie crap. GWG is embarrassing PS+. I'm not renewing my sub. Just give us Killzone and Knack. PS+ is a rip off. I'm selling my PS4. Some people are so entitled. Indie =/= bad. Some people would moan if they gave us The Devision and SF5. It's less than a pint a month.

I think I have covered most comments from both sides.

Happy for Zombi. Overall I'm a tad disappointed if I'm honest. Although, this has been rumoured for May I believe.

Don't know much about Irish potato sayings but where were you when the PSN servers were down for months and the subsequent downtime every other night? Things are much better now but servers do go down every now and again without any compensation. I think they did compenstate once in the last year actually when PSN went randomly down on xmas or something.

Is a potato still a potato if it labeled as a parsnip? (Irish saying or did I just make that up?). I've never really had a problem with the PS servers. PS Plus was great when I still had my PS3 as I got some great games like: Borderlands 2, Tomb Raider, Far Cry 3, BioShock infinite, etc. I miss my ps3!

What Sony really should do is allow loyal PS+ customers who subscribe for over 12 months access to the entire catalogue, but these kinds of deals between game studios and content providers are one off endeavours - otherwise no one will make money... the industry is already set back through piracy / 2nd hand games market, so DLC and subscription based business models are the only things keeping game developers and hardware makers alive and investors happy.

I recently bought 12 months PS+ for about £20. I am sure there will be enough enjoyable games to justify that small outlay. In the past I really enjoyed Limbo and Rocket League. If I get a few games like those over the year I will not complain.
tsimehC to poorboys
31 Mar 16 #198
If I recall correctly, that was £24 with Very and Groupon combo. Glad I got it as it is really was a good bargain. My sub runs out tonight so I'm going to activate that card now despite a disappointing PS+ lineup. I need online play to play FIFA and Rocket League so my hands are tied. I'm sure this is the reason why the quality has tanked on the games. I still feel I'll get enough out of the price I paid though just because of the ~5 games that I do like during the year.

Yeah I saw the demo gameplay during a E3 before and it looked like the gamepad was essential for inventory and map management. Still going to give it a spin as I have nothing to lose except disk space!

You people make me laugh, if you're bitching about having to pay £30 (which is less than a single game) for getting a minimum of 24 games over the course of a year you probably shouldn't be spending £300 plus on a games console. Some of the lesser known games are far better than some of the AAA titles everyone craves. Just don't subscribe to PS+ and go and buy Knack and Killzone for a tenner and save your time/energy playing them rather than moaning

Hit the nail on the head! You have to remember though that PS plus is a subscription to pay for online gaming. There is also alot of game discounts to be had exclusive to PS plus. Worth the price of a game for a year of the ability to laugh at 7 year olds trying to play COD.

31 Mar 16 #190
I'm glad you do agree thank you.

I'm not sitting on a pro Microsoft propaganda lecture, in fact I only bought an Xbone in the run up to Christmas a few months ago but facts are facts.

Sony are taking the pxxx out of their subs because they're so far ahead this generation, there can not be any other explanation for it.

As for EA, well I still would put Road Rash, Desert Strike and EA Hockey on the Mega Drive in my all time favourite top ten games so it don't give me any pleasure to dig them out. Alas I hate the FA, never mind the premier league, UEFA and FIFA so that's all I'm saying on that front.

I understand it's money but if others are happy to buy in to something endorsed by such a corrupt dreggy organisation as them well that's up to them but I'm not so EA Access actually gave me a pass there and I have to admit I am well grateful it did.

Back to the consoles in general, perhaps the NX will give PS4 the competition Xbone clearly hasn't but who knows....I hope so but ain't holding my breath.
nickann1
31 Mar 16 #189
Totally agree with everything you've said there. I have always bought FIFA but this year I have missed out. Mainly because the game is just a rehash of every other year and doesn't seem to add anything new but I agree with your reasons for EA. I've had a problem with them for years and the games they have produced lately are just reskins.

As for PS+. I am a fan of Sony and have owned every Playstation device there has ever been but yes, I can't defend them when you put it up against the competition. They are outselling the competition and seem to think that they have a free rule over how much they charge and what they give away. I really can't see myself stepping over to XBOX but Sony could well lose allot of users if they don't open their eyes soon.

Chasloyal I did indeed think it was you because if it were the mods, I assumed they would have just deleted it like they did my comments. Very odd. Three lengthy replies of mine have now vanished. My comments sometimes get lost in the posting process too but not this time, and often I forget to copy first (as with these).

So they deleted your posts too? I would post mine again but they'd probably just get deleted too (as this post may, who knows). Sometimes the mods here seem to employ a very strange system of deciding what is and isn't reasonable discussion/banter.

In summary: 1) I wasn't suggesting you are a scrounger, I don't know you, I think my meaning didn't come across properly, 2) I wish people would give all kinds of games a chance, 3) I often take opportunities to counter those suggesting that indie games are automatically bad for whatever reason (some may object to the tone/words I use), 4) I have a PC and consoles all co-existing in perfect harmony, 5) good luck with your move and 6) vintage cheddar is probably the best cheese.

I had posts deleted overnight because someone accused me of 'hate speech' because I referred to another poster in the thread as wait for it......'HUKD's Nintendo equivalent of the crapgamer' and 'fan baby' when he got all clicky about me saying the new Starfox game would be going for pennies once the NX gets officially announced at E3.

So I have no idea what the method is behind their moderating either but when comparing someone to the most vocal 'fan boy' youtuber is deemed hate speech I am truly at a loss.

I take all your points onboard and even when I don't agree with people I'm all for them voicing their opinions any way they like. Every 'free' indie game I've tried after downloading it to my IGC has not floated my boat, it just hasn't, so I have tried but not for me.

My gripe is far more with Sony than indie games, it's absolutely shocking that when online gaming was free on PS3 the service wasn't really any worse than it is now where we're shelling out a sub for it on PS4. Of course I say that bar that mega outage of whenever it was hmm so we get no better online service and inferior classification games for our dough now compared to then.

And thanks for the kind wishes, I really would not ever recommend moving but from Europe back to England oh brother :disappointed: and I didn't even want to come out here, it was family commitments and having put nearly five years of my life in to it I've had enough so had to force the issue and demand we go home.

I use PS+ so that me and my son can share the games over 2 consoles and users and he can use online but I don't do multiplayer games, sadly had to miss both recent Tom Clancy games and Star Wars Battlefront because of it. I have had some absolutely fantastic games through PS+ and if I counted the games that I and my son have enjoyed and still do, it would have cost me stupid amounts of money. I think Sony could drop titles like basic Destiny, Order 1886, Knack, NFS Rivals, Battlefront 4 even but I doubt they will. I am happy to get the free games but this months isn't exactly one I am excited about.
Chasloyal to nickann1

Sony refused point blank to allow EA Access on PS4 which speaks volumes.

I own all three current gen consoles so I 100% honestly don't have any fan baby agenda, I am actually very anti EA for all sorts of reasons and have as good as boycotted them for years now. Buying FIFA for my two boys each year has left me traumatised because I am so #AMF but it is how it is.

Although all that said n done I still got a year's EA Access for around 14 quid before Christmas, sorry but that's proper value with the games in their 'vault'! It puts PS+ to shame and when you also consider you can get a year's XBL Gold from people like cdkeys at around the 20 quid mark from time to time there's nothing else needs to be said.

Sony are creaming it big time and it is what it is.

Blimey this is getting a bit heated, the way I look at it is there are games with the depth of a puddle produced by AAA and indie devs and there are the opposite on both sides too. I tend to judge a game for it's content rather than how many people and how much money was spent making it. I think there is room in gaming for both and frankly if you are willing to wait over a year for a AAA game to be given free on +/GWG you weren't really that interested in it anyway imo.
Chasloyal
31 Mar 16 1 #176
Not quite sure you hurt my feelings would be how I'd describe it cannibalwombat, if anything I welcome all abuse n hate aimed at me with open arms.......if I considered life to be some form of bizarre popularity contest ritual I'd support Orient and have tried my hand at being a lying politician.

I also take your rather catty "impressive collection of admittedly mediocre AAA games" comment as grudging acknowledgement that you did in fact slander me with your rather ill thought out assumption that I'm some kind of scratcher who expects everything for nothing.

Without wandering down Freud Street, which of course a working class nomark like me who has no GCSE's would never do, it's crystal clear you formed some prejudiced opinion of me being someone that does not buy anything.

I'm glad I reminded you to keep that 'never judge a book by it's cover' policy in mind for the next time you decide to go on some socially, intellectually or financially superior trip on someone you perceive lower than you, though I'm sure you won't want to thank me for it in public :man:

As for the pros n cons of indie v AAA bla bla bla I'd like to leave you with a simple observation. Why would someone so obviously infatuated with games developed by smaller devs with no corporate backing have a console anyway, never mind start suggesting those of us who prefer big budget titles should game on PC?

Last time I looked at the same old tired slurs n insults that my fellow console peasants lob at the PC master race and vice versa it's actually always the PC posse who claim console gamers are corporate slaves to the same few genres whilst PC gaming is all about hundreds of different genres developed by thousands of various indie devs dotted around the planet?

Just please don't play the graphics card again, no pun intended, every single console owner knows PC's blow our wee boxes away in that dept. Truth is the vast majority of us though bought those wee boxes because they can still handle the big pretty games we like to play, not a load of titles that wouldn't look out of place on the original NES.

No doubt you'll come back at me with something or other trying to mug me off once more and good luck with that. Just bear in mind though that by your own logic in your previous post you totally contradicted everything you've just said in this one by telling us we "ought to have bought a PC" :smirk:
keejoonc
31 Mar 16 1 #175
No, you are just naming a few exceptions, which is pointless, Out of all the indie games that were offered on PS plus there would be way more indie games that are just your run of the mill shooter, platformer/puzzle games than those with proper story and progression. If you think otherwise, you are deluded.
By who's definition is Witcher 3 an indie game? Yours? LOL It's hard to call a massive RPG in its third instalment an 'indie' game.
keejoonc
31 Mar 16 1 #174
So you are trying to prove your point by comparing against games like Destiny which we all know has limited plot due to Bungie screwing up? I don't think it helps your case. How about I name non-indie examples such as Witcher 3, Fallout 4, GTA V, Wolfenstein New Order, Telltale series of games, Life is strange to counter your indie examples? How do they compare to current indie offerings on PS Plus - Bro Force and Galak Z - in terms of story and depth?

I don't waste my time playing most of the indie games anymore. Why would I play indie games when I have a backlog of proper AAA titles to play? I have tried games such as Shove Knight, Rogue Legacy and Transistor but I find that I never go back to playing them because they don't offer anything that pulls me back into it.
I have enjoyed playing Rocket League for a bit but it got repetitive as well.
SVRich
31 Mar 16 1 #173
You can't really assume all indie games don't, I have played many with plenty of depth story and progression, Rogue Legacy, Bastion, Transistor, New n' Tasty (not really indie but classed as such) of the top of my head that have way more depth, story and progression than games like The Order.
cannibalwombat
31 Mar 16 #172
Sweet Jesus, this post is so misguided. How many of the PS+ games most would think of as 'indie' have you actually played? Branding a game as lacking story, depth and progression just because it has the 'indie' label attached to it is wholly unfair and wildly ignorant. Tell me in all honesty that Destiny has more of a story than To The Moon, or Knack has more of a sense of progression than Shovel Knight, or Call of Duty Ghosts has more depth than Undertale or Papers Please, and I will promptly implode.

Funny you should mention it because any triple A title I fancy I tend to pre-order, yes I know I shouldn't but because I am rather fond of collector's editions it's just something I have always done. There are times I'll wait for the review embargo and then make a decision but I can assure you any triple A title I've ever wanted I've had a physical copy of in my collection long before it ever reached PS+ or GWG.

I still have a Mega Drive and SNES back in England, if I want the old school/modern indie experience I'll dig one of them out and play Speedball, Streets of Rage, Desert Strike and the like. Sorry but I did not buy a current gen console to play antique looking games regardless how good they are. Off the top of my head the only two indie titles I do play were bought because I missed both of them when they was on PS+ for whatever reason.......Rocket League and Hotline Miami.

As this pic below demonstrates in the four or so years I've been marooned out in Europe I've accumulated just as much as I have always done at home in blighty. Oh and please forgive the mess but I am packing everything up as I am finally moving back home in a fortnight, all the more reason that Mrs Loyal is having proper palpitations about all this extra clutter that is returning to Essexshire with me.

http://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/z450/Chasloyal/IMG_20160331_103744_zpsugyprvdk.jpg

So I would appreciate it if you were to take your slanderous accusation back my ickle flower because all I expect from Sony is a good online service which they continue to fail on and the same standard of games they used to put in the IGC before the launch of PS4 which again they've also failed on persistently month after month after month.

Perhaps others want 'free' games because they are too tight or unable to put their hands in their pockets but not me, hello if I want something I do "pay for it" #justsaying

I literally don't understand the hate. PS Plus has allowed me to play indie games that I'd have never considered buying before, some of which have turned out to be gems. Also I have nowhere near enough time to even play through all of my own games as well as PS Plus so I constantly have a backlog of free games to download and play.
I personally think it's great value for money and Zombi looks pretty awesome!
keejoonc to Remitto

Maybe people want games with story, sense of depth and progression which IMO is where indie games falls short on.
Sure, you might try some indie games and find that they are fun to play for a bit of a laugh but they are only good for casual plays (for me anyway). A lot of people are sick to death of indie platformers, shooters, and puzzle games from the 16 bit era.

I can't understand why some people knock PS+. Over the last two years or so, for the cost of two retail games, I have managed to get 75+ superb titles spread across my PS3, PS4 and Vita. For me, PS+ is a no-brainer and a complete bargain. Even if there are a couple of duff months in every yearly subscription, I still have 30 or so titles left to look forward to for the rest of the year.

Just my $0.02. Peace.

Overall PS+ games have been better than GWG during my time with both services imo, tbh this month included but that is because I already owned all the GWG games. Even on a (subjectively) bad month I don't feel ripped off with either service as they cost so little for a year and both of them have given me my monies worth. I find it a little sad that people will automatically write off indie games, thanks to both services I have played indie titles that have put many AAA titles to shame with the amount of enjoyment I have gotten out of them. Try games you wouldn't normally you may be suprised.

I don't mind Indie titles but I already went through all that with the Ouya (Fist of Awesome and It'll Dew are quite amusing/good) ....We all know how well that worked out though. Why don't Sony just offer some freebie PS1 & PS2 games each month as a bonus? I'd prefer that to their latest offerings.

,People should do some research into games and how it works. if your already winning the war, there's no point putting more money into the resources. Sony are miles ahead in the sales of playstation compared to xbox, there's no point in spending more money to be even further ahead. Hence why xbox have introduced backwards compatibility and ps haven't.

That's part of the beauty of PS+ for me.

Three games that I've recently played and loved from PS+ are Super Stardust Delta, OlliOlli 2 and Flame Over. I would otherwise probably never have heard of these games let alone bought them. And yet having played them and realised they're fantastic games, I would have happily paid for them. And that's irrespective of the aesthetics; I really pity people who just can't look past graphics to what really matters - gameplay, and don't realise that if graphics are so important to them, they probably ought to have bought a PC in the first place instead of a PS4.

It sounds like you're asking Sony to give you games you were planning to buy anyway. If you want a particular game, pay for it!

Oh and for what it's worth, only 1 of the games I mentioned above is indie.

30 Mar 16 2 #128
Only on the Internet do you get a £14.99 title for your monthly fee of £3 or so and people still whine.

That's not counting the other 5 games. Most of the "gamers" these days wouldn't know a good game if it ran them over.

Just because it's Indie, doesn't mean it's bad.
Chasloyal to Pokkai
30 Mar 16 #132
Only on the internet would you get someone happy to defend a product most people consider a pxxx take when compared to what that said product offered those 'whiners' three years ago.

Just because it's Indie doesn't mean it should look and play like a 16 bit game from a quarter of a century ago?

Not particularly sure anyone is saying they are bad but I think it's pretty safe to say at least 90% of subscribers would never buy any of these monthly offerings Sony give us.....even if they were only a couple of quid a throw.
Chasloyal
30 Mar 16 #130
PS+ did give plenty of quality on PS3 though ...... proper triple A like Far Cry 3 and perhaps 2 and all thinking about it, AC3, Uncharted 3 when it was still newish, Just Cause and Hitman off the top of my nut. Then from when the PS4's launch was announced at 'Mattrick's E3' it became a big steaming log floating in the khazi instantly and has been pants ever since on all three PS platforms.

GWG on the other hand started out a bit monkey but has dished out some pretty decent stuff in more recent times, I suppose people pointing out they've had to because the Xbone has struggled are making a valid point but that can be countered by saying all the more reason Sony should reward their millions more subs with more decent titles.

I still don't get why you'd want to ditch either console when you've got them both, Xbone has more proper games than PS4 at the moment granted but you got Horizon, Last Guardian and Uncharted coming/almost here?

You'll end up regretting getting rid of one and holding on the other whatever way round you do it so easiest thing to do is keep the two

I do agree that PS Plus doesn't have as much value as it did before PS4 was released and I do think the games should be a little more generous considering we are paying to play online now too! There is another way of looking at it though. The way I see it, indie games and PSN games have way more value than AAA titles.

For example GTA 5 and Fifa 16, got them for £30 and £25 last year brand new and they still sell for that on ebay for used copies so I've made £0 loss, whereas if I just spent say £8 on a PSN game then I'll never be able to recoup that so I'm £8 down which is why it's better to have them thrown into PS Plus.

I predicted last week Far Cry Flintstones will be the first half big title Sony will give subscribers since the PS4 landed, most likely come December as an incentive to sell more consoles in the Christmas madness.

Seeing the price of that game keeps dropping relentlessly even though it only came out two n a half hours ago just makes me feel all the more confident I've called it right from the off.

Though the way things have been the last couple or three years you'd not discount Microsoft lobbing that title in their Xbox Gold IGC before Sony have even thought about including it on PS+ :smirk:

Most people are more concerned with comparing the 2 offerings of MS and Sony. Just play the games or don't play the games. Some of the indie titles are really good and I'd much prefer something I don't own already than Killzone, Black Flag or Watch Dogs for example so I can at least make my own mind up about it.

GWG has had a few decent months and in particular April but if you compare the games over a period of time it's pretty similar really. The games people are hoping for don't cost more than a tenner, if you want them that bad it isn't a huge expense

as good as zombi is its no AAA game(mind i enjoyed more than a lot of AAA games), i do find it strange that some of the people who are defending this are the same people who posted how poor MS lineup was, have to love the double standards of some people and really most people dont get 6 games unless they have a ps4,ps3 and a vita. but its this is better than its been for months and worth it for zombi if you dont already own it

but do people really think if things had been different and Microsoft was dominating we would of even seen GWG? no they had said on more than once last gen they had no interest in something like plus on the xbox, its because of the initial rocky start of the xbox one they introduced it,

Happy for Zombi. Overall I'm a tad disappointed if I'm honest. Although, this has been rumoured for May I believe.

Disclaimer:That may, or may not be true.

this might of been OK if not for Microsofts GWG april lineup., but if you dont have zombi i would say its worth it, the rest look pretty poor as usual but you are still get something for next to nothing

Good line up - am pleased - Zombi was on my wanted list and so was I am Alive which while short is a good game a little like Last of Us.
