Daughters second birthday in a few months and she loved these on her first. They say they are supposed to last 15hours but the last pack we had lasted over 3 days.
£1.00 - pink, yellow, blue and toy story
£1.50 - 'love you' red and white, Disney princess, green and happy birthday.
Not all were discounted but I'd say 30% of the range was.

They had lots of these in Tesco Cardiff (western ave) yesterday, they also had different packs with 4 balloons for 75p....HOT

Baffles me why anyone would bother buying a 1 year old anything at all really. Anything up to 5 they really are never going to remember it in years to come.

I remember all of my birthday cakes from the age of 3 (a Hickory Dickory Dock cake, mouse 'n' all), and my brother's cakes too!
My nephews are now 4 and 5 but from a young age, watching their faces light up, their minds work, new synapses firing away, inquisitiveness, quest for knowledge, delight, joy etc when they were given something new, interesting or exciting (it could have been car keys as babies, building blocks, playdoh, books, toys, blowing bubbles etc) was really rather special.
It's true, children don't need expensive toys but the wonder and joy that a balloon with a light in would bring is definitely worth 20p in my opinion.
At that age it's about learning and experiences, and I recon this ticks loads of boxes; colour, movement, noise, light etc.
It's a bargain OP, if only I was going to Tesco soon I'd get some for my gorgeous nephews!

Parents know that - it's all about having an excuse to enjoy yourself. Like guys - those gaps between stags grow longer and longer. If you can get your friends together for any old reason it's worth it.

At 1 though? Pretty much it's all about puke and sleep. Really no stimulus is required just yet. I realise the government wants them to have passed GCSE Maths by the age of 7 these days. I remember when we were allowed a childhood!

I love the fact you say the government wants them to pass gcse's by 7 and we're not allowing them to be children then condemn me for buying my daughter some balloons to play with. Don't you see that's what is happening playing with a simple balloon, football, stick or just running round like a idiot are some of kids favourite games.
It's not about stimulus, advancing or government recommendations, it's about me and my daughter spending time together and while she may not remember I'll never forget!!

Does it really matter if they don't remember it? If they enjoy it at the time then it is worth it. By your theory, parents should not buy anything for their child until they are 5 but why stop there? If they won't remember it then why bother doing anything with them, don't go swimming, to the zoo or even the park, they won't remember it until they're 5 anyway so don't waste your energy! We had a family holiday with my parents and brother planned to Florida when my daughter was 13 months old, people kept saying we were stupid for taking her as she won't remember it but she had a fabulous time and now loves looking back at the photographs and videos we took on our trip. These balloons are great, we went to Jamie Oliver's festival last year and my 5 year old, 1 year old and all the other children around us were fascinated by them, I'm off to tesco to get some more for this year, thanks OP!

It had the normal tag in yellow with price crossed out on the shelves so presume its national, I maybe corrected though.
Sounds like they had them in Cardiff and redditch aswell as West Bromwich, could be just the tesco extra stores
