Well spotted OP!. Had forgotten they started it earlier than advertised last time too (when got journeys to EDB for £35 in 1st)
Don't overlook chances for
(a) £back - eg via TopcashBack
(b) entering your Virgin Flying Club OR NECTAR # to get some credit on those too
[my Nectar a/c details show it's DOUBLE normal points when buying SALE tickets too and a later poster had bonus points too!]

Fortunately that viaduct has already been rebuilt and West Coast trains operating normally for the last week.
Perhaps why they are only now doing this sale, ie secure in knowledge entire line re-opened!

It's Virgin Trains - the original ie West Coast lines operator; and not the later "Virgin Trains East Coast" franchise holder that covers Doncaster.

If i lived in Doncaster, i'd happily pay £288 to move to Edinburgh

Frustratingly the one I tried is only cheap one way. Eg Coventry to Carlisle £8 but all the returns are £40 odd on the days I tried.
Still, great deal if it works for you

Maybe you should try booking to other stations instead of Cov. I've bought some Carlisle to Nuneaton for £5 each way (on Sundays), and midweek Carlisle to Birmingham for £8 each way.

This is for VIRGIN West Coast trains only. For a Liverpool to Llandudno journey you'd use Merseyrail to get to Chester, then change trains there.

29 Feb 16#26
Yes I know that but I thought since virgin operates from Liverpool lime st they may have some cheaper offer's!

29 Feb 16#27
The sale only applies to tickets on their trains. If you want a ticket for a route they don't serve you won't get the sale price.
You can do the journey using Virgin trains only, but you'd have to go the long way round via Crewe, and buy separate tickets for each leg.

I assumed if virgin operates out of Liverpool lime st they would have ticket offers, obviously I'm wrong!

Whenever there's a sale of any kind people who paid the higher price will feel aggrieved, it's not just a Virgin thing.

Dont 100% agree there, when this is quoted on their website
Book early
Thinking ahead can save you some serious pocket money. The further in advance you book, the cheaper your tickets. Our Standard and First Class tickets are released twelve weeks before departure, and that’s when they’re at their cheapest.

3 Mar 16#49
Yes I certainly feel screwed - booked 2 weeks ago following their book early for the best price advice and paid more than double the sale price. I have complained as I in order to get that "Best"!! fare I had to book a train earlier than I wanted AND with a change of train. I doubt if any refund will be forthcoming as on the bottom of the BFF there are the initials T&C which is a (hidden in my opinion) dropdown which says sale fares may be cheaper than the BFF.
I have suggested to them that they should advertise the sale BEFORE the services covered appear on the BFF.
On getting back from my holiday I find if I had waited I could have gone on the 1 hour later DIRECT train that gets there only 7 minutes later than the early one and for less than half the price.
Just to rub it in I have now looked for an advance ticket for the home journey which is outside the sale period which means it is £123 as against the £10 sale price. Incredibly the First class advance fare is less at £103.

That'll be because the sale has ended and all the cheap tickets have gone.
If you want a trip to London try London Midland trains instead, they're usually cheaper than Virgin, but slower.
