Does this heat up like a soup maker or is it more like a blender?

Looks like a bargain. What's the wattage of the motor?

Wattage of motor largely irrelevant, just like ever more megapixels in a camera or ever more powerful vacuum cleaners (which fortunately the EU is saving us from).

1.1 kW - seems ok for the price which looks to be a simple dial for a timer to cook / blend for.
Was one in Derby conveniently placed around the corner from the other kitchen electrical items!

I think that's the total power consumption; not the power of the motor. It has a heater in it which will be at least 500W at a guess.

I bought one of these when they were reduced to £20.
It was absolutely awful so I took it back and got a refund.

Get yourself a large saucepan and just use a ordinary blender, thats what i do and have for years.
