What about the third child? is he no longer part of the family for this meal out? *calls grandparents*

We've only got one child and these "family" deals of 2 adults and 2 children deals always irk me. We always seem to pay the same even though we have 1 less child.

You are responsible for over populating the world and Toby Carvery are rightly punishing you. Simply leave the youngest* in the car, explain gently to him that you'll bring him a "doggy bag" out when "the family" have finished.
*Alternatively, a ginger child.

Voucher does 2 adults + 2 children or 1 adult + 3 children = leave the Mrs at home and have fun :-)

Sign up for the email updates and get a free ice cream sundae, if its a family of 4 it works out a better saving if the kids want pudding than using either of the above

Or just go to the same chain owned pub and carvery 'Crown Carvery' where two adult carvery meals and two kids Carvery meals would weigh in at less than twenty quid anyway with the same food supplier.

it's not the same food though, Toby is fresh vegs, crown frozen, joints are worse as well, Toby is far better quality

My local Toby would not get my money, does not live up to the hype, very poor experience both visits

same goes for us. it seems to be quantity over quality

My local has also gone right downhill!
Great when it first opened, but the meat is cut too thinly now.
Well skilled though to cut it that thinly. Better local carvery's in my local area than TC, but no doubt there will still be some good on TC's about.

We have a marstons inn just up the road from us which blinds our local toby. whether this is down to individual management/kitchen staff or just down to food quality used by each of these companies i don't know. also, adult carveries are £6, and kids carveries are £3, so it's only £18 for 2 adults and 2 kids!

Yes, we have a Marston's and they do 2 x carveries for tenner. Often get free pint vouchers too.
Adult portions of meat there.

Just looked at the price for a soft drink - 5 glasses (330 ml each) of diet coke would cost £12.50, which I think is a ridiculous amount to spend seeing how much a litre of diet coke cost at the supermarket. I'd be taking my children along and they would probably want a drink with their meal.

You could try this new stuff called water. Much better for you.

Its a pub, you don't expect to pay 50p a glass surely?
For an extra 20p you can get refillable soft drinks which I thinks pretty good, we usually have 2 glasses when we go for a carvery, the kids sometimes have 3 so doesn't work out that bad.

9 Feb 16#16
Yes, I know it is better for you - I probably only buy about two large bottles of fizzy drink a month, so we are not regular drinkers of it. Iced water with the meal would be fine, but do you know if they actually charge for this? Thank you.

I recently took 2 of my children to see a show at the theatre - the bar there was only charging £1 a glass, which is more reasonable than £2.50.
julieallen
9 Feb 161#18
ok, but thats not a pub, no doubt you had to pay to get into the theatre? I imagine if Toby charge £10 a head to go in they could afford to charge £1 a glass for soft drinks

I think it depends on the toby, the one local to us doesn't charge for water, and if you have a child under 3 they give you a small plate and you can put food from your plate onto it for the child at no extra cost, however we went to one when we were away in the summer and they didn't do either of those things.

9 Feb 16#21
Not a clue, but how much could they charge for a jug of iced water? Probably a heck of a lot less than £12.50.

There's a better and fairer way. Rotate them. Fastest eater swaps with one in car.
