Avoid if you mind having chopped frames for the sake of widescreen. They need to reissue in 4:3, as for once, this is justifiable to maintain overall presentation.

It's believed a new 4:3 edition is forthcoming as a result of the Fremantle deal and this is why this 16:9 edition is in Network's Clearance Shop.

Watched every episode (in its original 4:3 presentation) recently through Iplayer, and this still remains my favourite WW2 documentary series, even though there have been many others since.

Got to agree with you...it really is one of the best WWII Documentary series that's ever been made...just a shame they messed around chopping the frames for the DVD release.
