Would strongly recommend the 400Hz 805 model over this - which is only 100Hz. Yes, it does make a difference. Voted hot though as I'm a convert to Sony TV's after buying the 805 42". What with hardly any of the big brands bothering to make their own TV's anymore at this size, it's very hard to find a worthy replacement nearly 2 years on.

It depends what you're using the TV for, this is actually a 60hz panel, so all that 100hz, 400hz, 800hz stuff is just useless marketing jargon if you turn off all the image processing to get the lowest input lag for gaming.
got this just over a year ago as its amazing for games due to low input lag. came second the top being the w955. for tv i dont know only watched a few films but perfect for gaming.

Great tv, worthwhile investing in a soundbar as well and if you've got the cash, get the tv calibrated.

I've had one of these since last summer, when Argos were delivering this model if you bought its (admittedly very similar) predecessor. I mainly use mine as a 42" monitor for 1080p, 60fps PC gaming, which it excels at due to the low input lag and very decent picture quality, especially for the price.
The only real downside to this TV is that the "smart" features are quite clunky and slow and it needs several seconds to "warm up" when it's turned on before it'll properly respond to inputs from the remote control. I was hoping these would be fixed via software updates, but it's been over a year and a half now and there's no real improvement after several updates.
TL;DR - Fantastic hardware, mediocre software. How much that affects you will depend on your use case.

It seems as those Brands give up on updates not soon after they release a Smart TV, so it's unlikely a 3 year old set will be updated

Of course in reality smart TV features don't matter on any TV as eventually they always become outdated and not updated anymore. I see them as being a convenience, however it's always possible to use an external device to implement the latest 'smart TV' features, such as an Amazon Fire Stick, Nvidia Shield TV, a computer. What I'm essentially saying is that the smart TV features eventually become redundant and even more so in an older set such as this which will stop getting updates quicker than a new set, but you can always plug in something to give you smart TV features. So if this TV is right for you and at the right price, then you don't really ever have to worry about the smart TV features.
