It's not a bad price for a 50" from a reputable manufacturer.Only 2 HDMI ports but with usb still, this is an led tv so it's picture should be vivid and crisp. It is full high definition 1920x1080p

Bizarre comment considering the only reputation UMC has is that of knocking out "value" TVs for supermarkets, only surpassed by Vestel.

If you live near Clearance Bargains at Corby they have tons of 50" Sharp TVs with Aquos panels and 3 HDMIs for £219.00. Picked one up at the weekend and whilst it's UMC made seems pretty good quality for the price.

The problem is common here with all the links posted from Tesco and Argos... 12 months warranty... a joke.

If Apple made the iPhone 5 but got ZTE to make the iPhone 5c but kept it quiet you'd be a bit peeved esp if you absolutely hated ZTE products.
When big brands that charge a premium for their products & their name start using inferior components & other manufacturers then of course it needs to be flagged up because many won't want to touch those goods.

agreed but probably picked the wrong example. Apple use many parts made by Samsung in their iPhones.

I have no issues with cheap TVs though I have a huge issue with cheap TV manufacturers sticking badges on. Panasonic, Sharp, JVC, Toshiba to name a few.

Could not have put it better myself. you get a lot of stick on here when pointing out whether a TV is a re-badge when all you're trying to do is save potential buyers from being duped into buying an inferior product.

Depends what you watch.
I hate it when the dark scenes in a film come on, and nothing can be seen, cos tv can't handle it. Films like batman, fireworks scenes, etc can be very different.
Or when football comes on and it becomes blurry.
Outside of that if people are watching eastenders, and gameshows, and reality tv i think you are right, it doesn't make much of a difference.
People get way to carried away with picture quality if you ask me. Just how close are you guys standing to your screens? I have a 55" Blaupunkt in my attic room den for occasional viewing and expected nothing from it for the price I paid (a better brand was vetoed by the mrs) When I am sat on my couch about 6 meters away all the imperfections get ironed out and it looks as good as the more expensive tv we have down stairs.

I got one of these last year, quite good, let down a bit by the sound quality. I ONKYO AV receiver most of the time, so the 2 hdmi socket is not a problem.

No TV has good sound quality since the CRT TV days to be honest. Can get no good bass without a AV receiver or even a sound bar.

I came on the threads just to see someone say VESTEL. Anyone who says Vestel seriously needs to get more or get out more xD

I think the 49" Sharp FHD LED smart TV at 249 from Tesco Direct is better value for money.
