I have one of these and it is very good, but I'm not sure its worth the £50 more it cost than buying a decent plastic cardboard-type headset (if that makes sense)

Got one of the cardboard ones recently, and whilst it's great fun, like 3d TV the novelty soon wears off. Unless there is some breakthrough game and its part of the next gen consoles I can't really see how this could really take off.

this deal is misleading as it is NOT the latest version, you should only buy this is you only have a note 4, anything more modern and you should be on the new version

Gear VR is an awesome experience, I have picked one up recently and thoroughly enjoy it.

I'm still struggling a little bit though with motion sickness, when playing things like Dreadhalls, I play for about 15-20 minutes, and then I have to take a break as I start to feel a bit rough.

I'm fine with watching things and videos etc, but that game does one over on me for some reason. I haven't tried others yet, but I will certainly get round to a few of them!

Recreation with this doesn’t include the use of poppers and a safe word does it?

i take it i can watch movies on my note 4 using this? Does it enhance the experience?

These are miles better than the Google cardboard. As already stated better motion tracking etc. It's also possible with party software to stop the Oculus app from starting, so you get the best of both worlds.

Actual decent retail vr is a few years away. Anyone who buys these " phone vr's" is buying a divers mask with a slot for the mobile after you dl an app, no actual VR device. Like HD tv's at their initial release, you get overpriced tat until kinks are ironed out. Ducktape your mobile to your face, drink a bottle of JD, Voila!

not sure what everyone's on about with sticking to the real world, some people have jobs, have partners, exercise, socialise and still find time to spend an hour a week or so on this. Why do people insist on judging. A lot of these people are the ones who sit down and watch soaps for an hour every day.

Anyway these are far better than google carboard and with the right app, package disabler and QR code , you can run google cardboard apps no problem.

The samsung apps are superb and i suggest installing milkvr using a us vpn to get some quality 360 videos.

Also i have set mine up to run kodi and force 2D films to run side by side from my server. Gives it a real cinema feeling, even works watching the football when streaming :smiley:

I like how it's obvious you don't own one. I have had mine for four months and use it every weekend. I'm able to do things from watching 3D movies in an IMAX like setting to watching a football match in a VR social network place with other people around the world.

This is probably the best thing I have bought in a long while. Everyone I have showed has been blown away by it too and always want more.

If anyone has a compatible phone then you should get the GearVR, you really will be amazed by it. 1000x better than that cardboard rubbish.

I don't own one, But I have used Oculus Rift at the 'Game of Thrones' experience exhibition in Belfast in September 2014. It was good. But not something I personally would rush out to buy.

Have one, pretty amazing for the price. The future of gaming will be VR imo, the Assasins Creed trailer was mind blowing. However, for video viewing, the pixel count is too low. We need 4K and 8K phones asap Samsung, so get your R&D team working.

I downloaded the demo, but you need a gamepad. Can you recommend one?

No it wont work, as I allready have that...the controller fro Nvidia is bluetooth input, where it needs to be bluetooth with direct input. annoying as hell as my Nvidia one just sits there unused
