Maybe you'de be interested to know that John Lewis's 5 year warranty only covers you fully for 1 year and the next 4 years for the parts only and the contribution is based on how many years is left - e.g. the 5th year they will only pay for 20% of the part and no labour. Try searching Google.

in some older tvs, they used to include fans in the back, but I believe in these new ones they dont. Also alot of manufacturer have gone the route that you should upgrade your tv every x number of years.

1 year warranty is poor imo, Chances of mechanical fault within a year very low, 15 months in and tv plays up you will be liable for repair bills. 5 year offered at most places i.e currys and JL same if not a little extra £. Investing in a tv set is a better saving in the long run. Stay away from 1YW

You're talking bs about 5 year warranties available elsewhere. Most of the time only on top end models over £1000.
At least 95% of TVs come with a 1 year waranty. Do some research before writing some trash on here...
You have the option of a 5 year warranty if you want it though.

What did you get? I'm in the market for the same thing (but it also needs to have a low input lag for gaming).

Had two TV's in the last 10 yrs, Samsung 37" LCD when the Xbox 360 was released (had for 6 yrs, no issues), followed by a 50" Panny plasma (4 years, no issues).
Bought the 55" version of this model TV with only 1 yr warranty. Taking a chance? No doubt.
But then those TV's and my current one only powered on for 7 hours a day for 5 days a week. Weekends are a bit hit and miss, depending on what i am doing.
