Oh my morals can take it alright. Fact is 90% of the games I purchased from foreign stores I wouldn't have bothered with if not for the cheaper price.

I don't think MS will ban anyone for this, nor will they region lock online games. Online games will geographically look for matches/servers near to you IP location to decrease lag. The idea that if you buy from Russia you can only play Vladimir Putin is nonsense.

Put it this way. I am a jet set traveller and have property in Columbia, Canada, Brazil, and South Africa. I go and stay at them all during the course of a month. Whilst I am out there I regularly check xbox for games and offers, so I can go home and have them all waiting for me in the UK. As I am in each country xbox.xom auto senses my location and takes me to each countries page and shows me the price in local currency. Thus I register my card details and address when i come to pay for each item. It just so happens that when I do pay for each game or add on, it is the cheapest in the world.

Surely MS would not ban me for being such a lucky person?

I've ordered using the Russian store before without VPN - you just have to access their Microsoft store to buy points/currency equivalent. It's fairly easy to follow if you use Chrome to translate.

The servers region locked? Made this mistake when i bought pes 2015 from hong kong. No **** was ever online to play. Dont want this to happen in a multiplayer centric game.

i would imagine you could use the same apps/steps to do it on a pc

on the xbox itself you can only change every so often I believe, on xbox.com its a different story

You are talking about changing your region on the console itself. That is limited to change every 3 month. You only need to change the language on xbox.com to see the price change.

Not sure what you all mean but I change my region on the Xbox all the time, it's not locked to a certain amount of times at all.

Correct, and I've used leftover credits to buy other games. I found it easier than using a VPN, personally (which I have done for SA store).

I use a mix of Revolut card and VyprVPN on my phone, and it takes less than a minute to order. There was a guide on here somewhere, or worth google those couple of search terms to find it. Plus you get a £5 bonus when you join Revolut with your first £10 topup.

I assure you that you can only change your region once every 3 month. There is a difference to changing region and changing location and region changes do incurr a 3 month wait period. You don't need to change the region to get cheaper games however. Just the location.

Plenty of guides out there, once you set it up once, you never have to do it again. Just renew your cards when they expire. Personally I prefer not having to faff around with MS points in different currency as you end up with random amounts, I've still got £40 in singapore!

Well that took some amount of time to finally sort.. Hola was having none of it and just kept causing errors on MS.. Eventually just went down the buying £10 credit on Revolut root so no need for VPN... Got the £5 from MSE aswell...Then just bought the russian prepaid 1000 for £8.93, then bought game. Downloading on xbox now...

So if you use revolut you don't need to use VPN? Or did you use revolut to buy Russian currency? I'm still a little unsure on how revolut works

I downloaded revolut to my phone.. Then you top it up with your debit card... Revolut then give you a virtual bank card with long number, expiry date, 3 digit security code etc..... You then goto microsoft site and change to russia (bottom left) and goto xbox live.. Then you should see option to buy 1000.. Select this (Google translate for help) and buy with card details.. You will then get an email from MS with code to redeem.. Once you have redeemed code, buy rocket league.

I've used my UK bank card with the use of Hola to purchase ONE game from the Russian store. All the other times I've tried I've got error messages galore no matter what I do. However, I can buy 1000 Rubles no problem, without using Hola/VPN and use my UK debit card. Yes you will have points left over but, I'd already bought currency a few weeks back and had to buy more to get these deal so I'm sure there will be other games that become available that I can use my left over currency on. For example the Deadpool pinball table was £1.20 in the UK, or around 73p in Russia so that used some of my points/currency up.
For me personally, to get this deal today, it was a heck a lot easier just to buy 1000 rubles redeem the code and buy, no problems what so ever :smiley:.

Thanks for the tip off. I've just bought it for my son who was going to buy this when it comes out next week. Got it for £6.33 and then 91p for the BTTF pack.

But if you use the revolut app/card you get a free £5 using MSE code and can then use the app/card to buy stuff wherever you want after loading it with any amount you want from a UK card, fee free, with an instant competitive exchange rate.

Buying MS points from different countries does not make sense as far as I am concerned.


:EDIT: To reiterate, do NOT change the region of your console; there is no point. Use any smart phone, pc/laptop or tablet and merely change the region on the xbox page after logging in and by using VPN and a valid card/address benefit from all these deals.

Very true - bans are unlikely to come from this as the scenario you explain is exactly why this is allowed in the first place.

What's more likely is that they will cotton on to the fake billing locations and start enforcing this in a different way. If you are genuinely in another region then you should be able to purchase games at prices for that region.

If you are not however, and are fraudulently purchasing from another region (e.g. Using a VPN and fake billing address like most people in this thread) then it's different.

The tricky bit for MS is how to lock out the latter group without affecting those few who genuinely travel around a lot and have a need for this option. They will stop it eventually, but I doubt they will ever block people who have already done it as its too hard to be 100% of the fraudulent purchases over the genuine ones.

Theres problems with the Xbox Store at the moment apparently, I had an issue earlier but, others seem to be having more issues than I did. Id search for the game on your Xbox later and download it that way.

You need to register it on each region. Once it's on it makes buying so much easier.

Ive had several problems trying to buy games directly from my card but, buying points is easy once the address/card details are in and then just redeem the code it gives you. I personally find it much easier to do it this way and I regularly buy stuff from the Russian store anyway so never have excess credit sitting for long!

Exactly how JAZFERBETAY said! used my card to buy points, then there was a 25 digit code waiting for me in my purchases under the download tab, then redeemed the points and used them to buy games :smiley:

Cant be asked to work out a free vpn and stuff gift card as long as i isnt too much over is always the easiest way.
