Really surprised nobody posted this already. For anyone into D&D/ role playing in general this is an absolute steal for digital versions of these rulebooks and adventures. Well worth grabbing the bottom tier if you're even slightly curious about Pathfinder. We also get to see a rare occurrence on a humble bundle - the bta price has gone over the $15 tier.

If you don't know what it is you're not likely to be interested, but if you do this is probably the best deal of this type I've seen in a very long time.
Unfortunately this deal and an ongoing twitch steam seem to have completely knackered the Paizo website so downloading the files once redeemed is proving difficult.
Bringing the sunshine as always I see. Fact is the core rulebook alone is $10 direct from Paizo and doesn't go on sale often (possibly ever, I'm not 100% sure). To be able to get that plus several other key PDFs for under a quid is great value. I actually even went for the bta on this one which I almost never do on book bundles purely because there's a good chance this is the cheapest this content will ever be.
Of course based on the question at the end I assume you don't know any of this or have any interest in RPGs in which case I'm curious why you even clicked/ commented on the deal.
Also to echo RealMatch Paizo's definitely feeling the strain right now so be aware you may have to wait until tomorrow to download the content (although adding it to your account seems to work fine).

Woot !
Just managed to get first files to download after trying since 7.05pm
I miss the ability to download 10 files at a time from RPG Drive Thru though :disappointed:
(I went for the full $15 set as I don't have any of the Pathfinder books already... might even have gone for the box if the postage hadn't been ridiculous - speaking of which I've NEVER seen the BTA price on a Humble Bundle go OVER the price of the top tier of the bundle before ! )

That's encouraging, I might have another go in that case.
Did you pay $15 or the bta amount? I believe you don't get the bta stuff from the $15 tier despite it starting out as a higher tier.

At the time I bought, the BTA was $8.65 or so, so I got all the (non-physical) tiers for $15.

You were more on the ball than me then, I rocked up 2 hours late and had to pay a whole £1.22 extra like a chump

:o I'm surprised I didn't see this on the site myself! I would be tempted to go for the $25 tier but looking at the description, those shipping costs alone look insane. £47 on top of buying it at £18? Yeesh!

I've really like quite a few of the book bundles so I tend to keep an eye on when they expire and so the next one will go up.
For once that kind of obsession seems to have paid off
Seems even at 7.45am GMT the Paizo site is still suffering. Guess we REALLY gave the server a kicking.
More seriously the problem looks to be that the Watermarking server is so overloaded (~18,500 bundles sold so far the bulk consisting of 85 files, so that'll likely be well over 1,000,000 files sold that each need individual marking before downloading), by the time it get's around to any file the downloader has given up and/or timed out.
Consequently since almost no files are getting downloaded the load on the watermarking system isn't reducing and things are a bit stuck.
Hopefully Pazio have some plans for either increasing capacity of spreading the load (off-line syching with an email sent when your files have been created containing direct download links to those files ?) otherwise we may be here a while

Can anyone provide a brief explanation of how the game works? And is it any good?
I am intrigued by this, could have been tempted at $15 bit it's over that now, so we'll see. Also tempted at taking a punt at the physical copy but put off by the potential $60 postage cost.

How familiar are you with tabletop RPGs? Are you asking about the mechanics of Pathfinder or have you not played a tabletop RPG (such as D&D) before?
Either way the $1 tier is definitely worth getting since it provides you with the core rules you'll need to play a campaign and the top tier is, in my opinion, definitely NOT worth getting with a $60 shipping charge on it.
Silly question - if you pay the $15 tier, do you get the BTA as well? I've never seen the BTA higher than the next tier up...

Afraid not, you have to pay the bta amount if you want that stuff as well. At least it's only about £1.40 more.

True - thank you. I guess the hint was in the phrase "Beat the Average"...
Next question is how does Pathfinder compare with other D&D stuff...

Honestly couldn't tell you a huge amount about the mechanics of Pathfinder having only got the books last week and not had a chance to get a group together and try it yet. That said Pathfinder has a lot of similarities to an old version of D&D (3.5e) being a sort of spin off created by players who weren't happy with the direction the series was taking. There's a lot of people who've stuck with it for years and not looked back so it must have done something right.
As far as D&D goes I've played 4e and 5e and of the two 5e is much better in my opinion. Most the group weren't hugely familiar with tabletop RPGs but even so it was easy to get started and we've been having a great time with it for months now. Of course the player handbook alone for 5e is more than the bta tier for Pathfinder (and that only accounts for a fraction of what you need for a campaign) so if you've not played either Pathfinder is much cheaper. Really mechanical differences aside the real deciding factor in how much you'll enjoy either one is how good your DM is. Even a fairly crappy tabletop RPG can be made enjoyable by having a DM who puts in the work keep things interesting and keep everyone engaged.

Many thanks for the input. I'll give it some thought.
