Price for the 5X seems to be dropping all over the place at the moment.
Latest price from Ebuyer is £279.99 delivered, seems pretty good to me.

Still pretty expensive in my opinion but more than anything I've heard nothing but issues with this phone from other users. The Sony Z5 compact is a much better option if you don't want something as big as the Nexus 6P which is the next recommendation.
If you're not in a hurry for a new phone then just wait, a bunch of new phones have been/will be announced this week which will have a knock on effect on the prices of existing phones out there.

A risk buying from a Ebuyer? They're a huge online retailer.
I've bought many things from them. The few times I've had a problem they've rectified it quickly.

I think many are annoyed that Google made a big push for wireless charging then dropped it.
Also a big mistake there's no 64gb version

i read it would have madethe phone bigger and instead they opted for fast charge wired charging... which is still good imo.
i had battery issues (compared to my z3 life) and swapped to a custom rom.. lasts ages now . i like this phone and glad i chose this model.

Wireless is never going to be big not until it's quick to charge and it's wasteful with energy. You don't need loads of storage with modern android phones as it's mostly backed up to the cloud for access.

I'd rather buy from a company that doesn't charge the earth to despatch to Northern Ireland, using the same couriers that other major online retailers do and don't charge for. Granted i have prime delivery, but without it, i can get it delivered for free with amazon!

much better handsets out there for less cash, a total mis-fire from Google, this and the P should never have been released without a killer feature, poor google

is the killer feature not the 'fingerprint sensor' at this price £279, maybe not?
apparently it works very well!
Plus pure Android is a better experience with Nexus one of the first to update their operating system

I managed to pick up a Nexus 5 around this price 2 years ago, still going strong so I won't be upgrading this year though if I was I imagine I'd go for the G4 as it's cheaper and has microSD. God I've missed that

Was a toss up between this and the Huawei Honor 7, went for the Honor and very pleased - meets or exceeds the Nexus 5X in all respects apart from NFC, and only cost £169. I had a Nexus 7, 4 and 5 but the 5X was just (is) too pricey for not enough of an upgrade.

Funny how people feel the need to pipe up with 'betterer' phones when the gist of this is surely that it's a good price compared to RRP?
This is a really nice handset - not too big, great camera, fast, has the latest USB C standard - which is great if you are already invested in cables for your MacBook or Chromebook Pixel, and it's a much nicer connector than micro USB.
Be happy with *your* choice of phone by all means - but the latest stock Android phone from Google at a much lower price than RRP from a reputable seller is surely a hot deal for someone looking for one?
Not everyone wants a Sony or a Samsung or a Doogee or a Meizu or whatever...

Like many others, I too also purchased the Nexus 5 about 2 years ago. Phone is still going strong, and running the latest android OS. Battery life is pretty poor though, but I'm fortunate enough to work in a place where we have chargers in our office to use at our disposal as we also need them for work purposes.
I did look into the Nexus 5X but there wasn't enough of a justification to upgrade. Plus the price was also a deciding factor. I've also recently been finding that my storage space is getting limited (16GB) so the next handset I'm looking to purchase will have 64GB as a minimum.
The OnePlus 2 was (might still be) on offer for £249 without the need for an invite and came with 64GB. If I was going to get one now, it would be this. But like others have also pointed out, with new mobiles coming out very soon, prices will drop and we'll find ourselves spoilt for choice this summer.

24 Feb 162#25
I have a 64GB Nexus 6P and it's brilliant. It's actually the first Nexus smartphone not to have any major compromises (like a rubbish camera or limited storage).
The killer features for me are the fingerprint sensor, USB-C fast charging and being able to use the latest version of Android without any OEM customizations. The 6P also has one of the best cameras of any smartphone currently available.

Doing a side by side with the G4 on gsmarena, the G4 equals or beats it in pretty much every category. Why would you choose the Nexus?
It's currently £30 more, but is has been the same price and will be again soon i'm sure.
misterleoni to Pasanda
24 Feb 16#38
Because specs don't mean everything - this is a stock Google device so will get fast updates for years to come, is much more compact in the hand than the G4, has a more future-proof connector (for those who want it) and a really great fingerprint sensor. The two devices are utterly different.
I had the G4 for a long while, and while it has some great positives I'm not a fan of LG's additions at all - their skin is worse than Touchwiz to my eyes, and changing the launcher doesn't fix that. The size was a step too far to me as well - I much preferred the size of the G3. This year LG have seen sense and made the G5 a bit smaller again to compete with the S6. I guess they're keeping phablet sizes for the V series from now on.

I'm looking to move from WP to android for the MRS, any recommendations? Priority is battery life, prefer wireless charging (not a deal breaker though) and good camera, so far looking at this, z3 compact or similar? Under 300 quid would be nice too...

Honestly, for my money right now I'd get a Oneplus X. If I didn't already have a Oneplus One that was so similar I'd have bought when I got my invite in the first few days available. Now you just need it to be a Tuesday I believe.
Another alternative would be a (Lenovo) ZUK Z1, they're pretty cheap on amazon.

I wish I was, best phone i've ever had. The HTC One M8 that replaced it is nowhere near as good (and is now broken after 13 months), clean Android is the nicest OS by a mile.

I'm tempted by this. Had a Nexus 4 and now a Nexus 5 but the power button has already gone wrong once (phone kept switching off) and been replaced and the new button is now playing up too. I also looked at the 5X before and it was just not good enough for the Google Play price. Now it is creeping down to £280 for 32GB I am very tempted.
For people suggesting other phones, I just can't go back to non Google Android again. The phone manufacturers versions of it are painful to work around and the updates so slow in arriving.

Well I just picked up my new Nexus 5X from Carphone Warehouse yesterday, and already I love it. My last phone was an HTC One, which had great reviews, but the UI was fussy, and I missed the more basic Android on my old Samsung. I'm not fussy about always having the latest 'bling' Samsung S7 or iPhone 6. I needed to be fairly frugal, and this comes out at just £21 per month, for the 32Gb version and all the minutes and data I need. I love the big, bright, clear display, the latest pure Android Marshmallow, the brilliant camera, the lightness and feel. And the fingerprint recognition to wake the phone up instantly. And the fast charging. I hope, with 32Gb, I won't miss the USB card slot, but plan to be really organised about what I keep on it. I'm still exploring its capabilities, but with all the latest Android updates hitting it first, this could be my 'forever' phone!

That's a bit of a cop out to be fair...
Wireless charging is great. You don't really miss it until you've had it, then you realise just how convenient it is.
And the 'cloud' bit is a myth too. Unless you are happy constantly chopping and changing what is on your phone, or clearing out the pics and videos, then storage IS important, and the cloud, ISN'T...
The cloud is a 'backup' option, not main storage, unless you have a MASSIVE data allowance, and are never out of 3/4g coverage.

I have one, this is a brilliant deal for it. Paid £340 for mine just 24 days ago! (And that was considered a good deal as it came with a £30 Chromecast and £20 of Play Store credit). Scorching hot.
Very good phone, feels a bit laggy at times coming from an iPhone (you can notice a low framerate with menu animations etc in some apps) but everything else about it is a good Android experience.
Never had a problem with EBuyer personally. We use them a lot at work too. But of course you'll get the best support if you buy direct from Google - if you think it's worth the extra £60!

The Oneplus X should be £199 when it's up for sale. Pair it with the black apricot case and I'm not sure there's currently a better looking phone, regardless of cost - obviously personal opinion varies. More objectively it has the same CPU, GPU and amount of memory as my Oneplus One and I have no hints of sluggish performance and have many many (redundant) apps installed that I mean to just keep an eye on as potentially interesting. Battery life is still great coming up on 2 years and it is used heavily (lots of recharge cycles), the One has a smaller capacity but I can't see it being an issue...
I haven't looked in depth at the Z1, just in the back of my mind as decent value so I can't comment on battery but it has the backing of a somewhat more known Chinese company. Which, along with the price of the OPX reminds me, the last gen Moto X is available through moto maker for £199 and would surely still perform adequately. Plus you could customise it to your Mrs' tastes. Alternatively the Moto X play is from £249 on there, cheaper than the Nexus this deal was posted about.
I realise now I'm widening possibilities which you may not appreciate but my original recommendation still stands but I'm biased because I think it's a gorgeous device.
