Lots of free plans available on the web if you have access to a colour printer and some card.

Sure, but you’ll pay for the ink, which for full-page colour prints costs a small fortune. Meanwhile these official papercraft sets are much higher quality than anything you’ll be able to print out at home & they’re pre-cut to boot.
Sometimes it’s worth paying for the better quality product.

Thats depends how you see it, if you want them for decoration and don't want to spend much time then the pre made ones are better if you want to do more then just told them into shape and have something a bit more unique then you would be better making them yourself.
Also you could probably easily customise the designs yourself with a little image editing.

Hot for the fact that its a good reduction, you could apply the cost logic to anything, why buy a Ferrari when you can get a Ford, why buy Heinz when you can get Lidl...... etc

I felt a bit like that the other day when I listed a kids portable dvd player.
People were saying getting a tablet and downloading the films was a better idea, but if you have 100's of dvd's how is it really better. If you have all the fiesta parts why would you buy a Ferrari shell.
Now that statement makes sense in my head but it may have got lost in translation on its way to the real world though

Ink costs for a full colour A4 print are what, £1 a page? These boxes contain something like 20-30 full colour prints, pre-cut. It’s probably *cheaper* to buy this deal & get the better quality product than to print them yourself!
The only reason to DIY is if you want something custom.

Think you should ditch that printer if it's costing £1 per full colour page
