Specs aside in terms of general performance, battery life and use how does this compare to the G4? Also isn't the Snapdragon 810 prone to overheating unlike the 808 from the G4?

I was close to getting this a while back but the better camera, 3gb ram, better screen and removable battery swayed me to the G4.
I can only comment on the G4s performance and it is awesome for the price it can be had for. Got to be the best bang for buck phone of 2015 maybe even 2016.

Depends on what device the 810 is in.

I thought the G2 was near perfect but the lack of storage expansion and removable battery made me upgrade to the G4 but Im disappointed by its battery life not helped by the screen res. I though the Flex's 1080p OLED screen would improve the battery and the MicroSD would have sealed the deal. Not having a replaceable battery is disappointing but I could have lived with that. The older OS and 808 overheating stories sway me away. I must admit the G4's camera is darn impressive. If LG dropped back to 1080p OLED with similar specs to the G4 it could be the ultimate phone.

Would this be much better than my Galaxy S5?

Not £200 better enough. The S5 is still a very good phone I don't really see any current flagships being far enough in front to warrant an upgrade unless you really have to.
I'd suggest waiting until Snapdragon 820 phones with 4gb RAM are available.

well i went from Nexus 4 to the G4 and the battery life is amazing compared. I would say im quite a big user of my phone and my battery lasts all day with some left.
The best thing about the removable battery is you can chuck another in if you want. I got a second genuine battery for £13.

The S5 was a terrible phone. Fact.

I agree, you can only really notice camera differences and screen differences in latest phones, the actual SOC improvements weren't enough last year. I have an S6 and you'd think it was a 2 year+ old phone with the lag on it sometimes. It will freeze on occasion. I don't think there's anything wrong with the hardware it's just the useless ROM Samsung have made. I await the roll out of Marshmallow so that I have a usable phone, the battery life is just dire on the S6. I would say I can't wait to get rid of the crappy thing, but it's going to power my Gear VR for quite some time.

For the S5 users I have been tempted to get a new phone, some good deals about, but the S5 is still almost as good in performance as most of them.
I decided not to spend £200-£300 on a new model and got myself the S5 official Battery and Charger kit. It's been great really, the Charger is pretty compact and easy to carry about, recommended.
Yes its also a plug for my deal, but I think its a good thing.
Anyhow this seems a good deal for the Flex, an "odd" phone but well specced.

The ultra 6 same spec as the g flex 2? Hope that's a joke. The cpu and gpu in the ultra 6 is pants compared to the 810 in this.
And no it does not overheat now, that was sorted in firmware way back.

I got flex 2 about a month back and I'm neutral with it... screen - good, cpu/gpu - powerful and hot, ram - enouth, camera - good, internal storage - 16gb not enough, design - not bad
I get 1 to 2 days with battery and it changes quick. Bootloader is locked
