All the DVD+R ones gone from Dunstable - empty shelf. But they do have the DVD-R at £4 - there were about 6 left. Interesting they have priced the 2 types different. I remember when DVD+R was less popular but recent (say 10 years) DVD burners should handle either.
Anyway I bought a pack of DVD-R at £4.

Last lot I bought, half ended up as coasters!

Are you sure it was because of the quality or because you used a high burn speed?
I think 4x speed is ok. Slower if the discs are really cheap.
But I don't have much experience in this (I don't burn many DVDs)
but I've rarely had problems and I only really buy cheaper brands. :stuck_out_tongue:

Burnt literally thousands of CD/DVD.... 'coaster' rate was about 1%...

I just cleared out my old DVDs a few weeks ago... had about 30 double sided and 50 regular DVD-R/DVD-RW discs that went straight into the bin; can't remember the last time I actually used a physical disc...

NOOOoooo!!!
You could have made backups of your backups with those things!
Landfill site has 'em now. :disappointed:
Or you could have just given them away to
a friend or something.
Ah well.:stuck_out_tongue:
At least it's not the end of the world.
Lol just kidding. :stuck_out_tongue:

yes i still do them at 4x speed, zero coasters on sainsbury discs for me, done around 100 of this brand so far, got one pack of 50 at £4 the other day, didn't see any +r at £2- though.
I think £4 is the cheapest i've seen the 50 dvd+r in portsmouth.
I tend not to buy cheap brands of dvd, here is the brand of these sainsburys discs.

Because cheaper discs = faster decay or ?
Just wondering.

cheap used to be rubbish in the old days of dvd blanks costing £2 per disc, i made dvds in 2002 and planned to still have them play 20 years later, so bought whatever good brands i could find and have kept doing so since.Just a habit.
These sainsburys discs i just put tv episodes on .I'm a fan of ritek discs, so that is a bonus too.
cheap discs in the past i found were unplayable after 6 months to one year, while my good brand discs were still playing fine 10 years after.I've got a few discs i made in 2002, and plenty from 2003,
The standards of dvd blank production have improved a lot over the years, in my view anyway.

Avoid Rubbish DVDs. Over half of the DVDs ended up as coasters. Stick to Verbatim or Maxell Gold.

My backups are on my NAS, and my backups of my backups are in the cloud. I haven't had an optical drive in 7.5 years now. I literally don't own any CDs/DVDs/BluRays any more! I've moved on, we have fast enough internet to stream video in 4K, and for all my local needs, NAS/USB sticks do the job for me
I would have loved to give them away to friends, but I don't actually have any that are IT savvy enough and could have used them :disappointed:

Bought a pack of 50 Sainsbury's dvd-r discs for £4.00 from Dog Kennel Hill , S. London at lunchtime. It's nice to read that they will suffice for short term media use if burnt sensibly.

Took last 3 spindles from Huddersfield Shorehead, need to lower speed down to 10x to burn using samsung dvd writer, will test on other dvd writers(I have numerous). I also purchased a month earlier 2 spindles from Leamington Spa branch for same price(£2.40).
When i went down to Huddersfield Shorehead, they had them for £10, the day after i purchased from Leamington Spa(£2.40). Pure luck today when i turned up.
