2.50 for 16gb looks too good to be true

Not really, you can grab 16GB Toshiba's on Amazon at £3.
So these at £2.50 in bulk sound about right.
What you need to keep in mind is that these are slow.
So unless you're using these for small files, it's almost always best to spend a little more and get something a lot faster.

Well if your PC or laptop only has USB 2.0 then why pay more for USB 3.0
I have some 8GB ones and these are quite fast enough.

Hot Deal...only a complete muppet would think otherwise
How many years ago though? With a write speed of 5mb/s these are pretty slow and the read speed is only 16mb/s, so they aren't anywhere near the practical limits of USB 2.0. I wouldn't use them even for OS installs but that's just my opinion, I think its a reasonable deal though for what it is.

Gadget Show doesn't mean anything and the link you posted is 5 years old.
Most decent usb3.0 sticks will also give you good usb2.0 speeds.
The benefit is that you have usb3.0 for the future or at places that have usb3.0.
Not saying the deal is bad for what it is but you'd much rather pay a little more.

Funny you should say that, I make them bootable and use them for system installs.
Manages to install a clean Win10 64bit system in about 10-15 mins.

I know, but they have improved since then I assume.
For the price they are a great deal. You might even say HOT?

For future proofing. Or you might want to connect to usb 3 device, even if your current pc is usb 2.
I bought a usb 2 stick for the car stereo, which is usb 2 and only needs to read mp3 files slowly anyway (as it is playing them). Regretted it after realizing how long it takes to copy my mp3 collection from my pc (which does usb 3) to the stick.
Good deal anyway. Perhaps useful if you are building a collection of bootable usb sticks.

There is USB 2.0 and there is slow USB 2.0. I had a USB 2.0 pendrive which wrote at 2MB/s. I didn't need USB 3.0 on my motherboard to get a faster pendrive, I just picked another one. Any other one.
