The complete eight seasons of the American drama about a Miami police forensics expert who kills those he believes have escaped justice. Dexter (Michael C. Hall) was orphaned at the age of three after the murder of his mother, an incident which appears to have implanted in him a fierce desire to punish those who commit criminal acts. While avoiding suspicion with a genial and helpful professional facade by day, when off-duty Dexter remorselessly hunts down those he believes have escaped the justice of the law and takes his vengeance.

Best series from seasons 1 to 4. Went downhill from there with the worst ending imaginable!!!

Sounds like the actor brings out some insecurity you have. Can't agree with that at all.

Skip the last season(s).
They really jump the shark multiple times and come the end they are just throwing everything at the wall and hoping something sticks.
That ending.... you think you've seen poor endings to films and tv shows then you see that.

If it had ended after season 4, it would have been one of the greatest shows ever.
Went downhill slowly still very watchable in seasons 5 and 6.

This is what I thought. From what I remember 7 & 8 (in particular) were awful. 23 quid for 6 seasons and a couple of coasters isn't bad though

I disagree, although it is absolutely crap, it's the sister whom I would love to punch. In the book the swearing seemed natural and fitted the character, whereas in the series it seems so false. And why is every female in it completely flat-chested?! My wife pointed that out btw, but then I couldn't help but notice.

Whilst I agree with the consensus on seasons 1-4, I thought Viktor Baskov in Season 7 was an interesting character and well acted, they could have done even more with him. I'd even watch a spin off with him.

The first season is possibly my favourite season of any show, but that changes and is subjective; and I actually really liked the ending - I can't think how they could have improved it. I've been waiting for the official UK Blu Ray release. Anyone know if they are planned?

Just my opinion whilst s4 is very good I actually think s5 with Julia Stiles is much better it doesn't go downhill after s4 as s5 had some unpredictable moments and made you question what was going on and there's a stunning scene with Micheal c Hall in the final episode that shows what a great actor he is.
S6 is the worst season it's all over the place and it's laughable. The ending is sadly not that good and it was playing out so well and seemed like we were in for an exciting time.

No. No it isn't as good as Breaking Bad.... It's not as good as Better Call Saul...
Series 1 -> 4, (it's true - they are not trolls) are better than a lot of average shows and if you don't have access to Netflix/AmazonPrime OR you just want a nice DVD box set..
The Colin Hanks series was dire, season 6... and I don't think the final one was that bad... until yes, the final scene... it really was that bad!!!

Does anybody agree with me when I say that Dexter is such a load of rubbish, the main character is just so annoying that you just want to pound his smug face.

I used to think that, and that he was a bad actor. That was until I saw him in some other stuff and realised he was totally different. The smugness is a part of the character.

I started watching Dexter because the premise seemed very promising and for a while, it was OK although there was something about all the characters which was borderline pantomime and exremely annoying. But it went steadily downhill from the start and if I wasn't TV-free, i.e. what I have hard copies of is all I get to watch, I would have abandoned it very early on.
Perhaps it was because I thought that by the end, the series was completely beyond even the greatest stretch of my suspension of disbelief that I actually thought the end was pretty good. A relief, perhaps.
Anyway, as a non-television owning occasional binge-watcher, I'd say that this is perhaps the worst series I have endured and it's perhaps a little ironic that I almost didn't watch Six Feet Under because of Michael C Hall yet having eventually done so, thoroughly enjoyed it and thought that it had the best final episode (at least the best last few minutes) I have ever seen which was worth watching the five series for.

I am thoroughly enjoying the series at the moment binge style. I am on season 6 and it has had its dips but still a good show.
Not of fan of all the [email protected] though lol. Just saw the ending of the twist during the DDK. Looking forward to the next episode :sunglasses:

Wow, talk about sensationalism.

He's one of the best characters in it really. The main black cop is utterly annoying and non-believable, same with his sister (except she's up there with the most annoying characters in any TV show ever). The whole show is a little bit too light-hearted really, would like it to be a lot darker as I think the fundamental story line is actually very very good. I think us brits would have done it a hell of a lot better.
First two series are ok, beyond that I wouldn't recommend continuing with it really.

Seasons 1-4 +6 are worth watching ( 5 is pretty much filler!)
