Not the most helpful comment. I would say that at high zoom on this a viewfinder would be highly beneficial at maintaining stability. However at this price, you can't go wrong.

Last week, I popped into Argos, when this camera was on sale, priced at £99.99, after dropping my SX160, and couldn't decide if I could put up with the bulkier body. The black body SX400, is still priced at £99.99, however, the red body is just fine.
Remember, this is a lot more bulky than your average point and shoot and will not suit everyone. OTOH, for a superzoom this is a lot of camera, with enough bells and whistles to keep the button pushers/twiddlers amused, for not a lot a of dosh. My only gripe, the SX160 ran on the much more convienient rechargeable AA batteries, this comes with a Li-Ion.
Now it's down to £82, it looks like a trip back to Argos. At this price, have some heat...Absolute bargain!

Bought mine at £89, and love it. It's so lightweight, but the optical zoom is fantastic - got some great shots sightseeing round London and from the top of the O2 looking far down at the stage. Bargain at that price, with a voucher thrown in too.

IF you had any real experience we mite just start taking your comments seriously,i have been using canon and Panasonic bridge cameras for more than 16 years and i can assure any one you wont get a better mutli-role camera ( NOT THIS ONE ) that's just as good at taking very long range photos and all the way down to macro shots all in one package.
There called bridge cameras for a reason chappy as that's exactly what they do as they fill the gap between and compact camera/ mobile phone & DSLR and if you ever owned one you would now what there capable of.
With a bridge camera you can shoot impossible photos that a compact & mobile phone cant do and they will save you a lot of leg work not having to get into range of the building/person/scene your shooting from medium to long range.
Unlike some im always capable of backing up my statements and don't make random comments on things that i don't have a clue about.
Here's a few photos i snapped while living in hong kong for 6 years just to show the one's who don't know what a bridge camera was designed for..
These 4 photos where taken back in 2008 with a canon Canon PowerShot S5 IS which was only a 8MP camera as well as a12x Optical zoom lens which is very low by today's standards .

All this photos where taken from well over a 2km+ range.
These where taken with a 2012 Panasonic Lumix FZ200 12MP camera 24x zoom optical lens which i bought from Hong kong for £220 back then and was selling for £360 + back in blighty.
The first 2 photos i took from the 55 floor of the IFC (international finance building) building in CENTRAL, HK island, all these photos where taken WITHOUT a tripod so i could of zoomed in even closer if i had one .
