Asda offer range of glasses for men and women from £40. This is the complete price which includes:
- Thinner lenses (This is the real money saver!)
- Scratch Resistant Coating
- Anti-reflective Coating
- Tints (optional)
- Advanced Varifocal lenses (if required)
Asda will give you the choice of power and material of lens (1.74 plastic or 1.9 glass etc) and its all included in the price! Found the range of frames of £40 frames were very good too. Just got mine this week and found service & fitting to be spot on.
I have a high index prescription and paid well over £150 at Vision Express just to have lenses made with 1.9 glass (the thinnest you can get) a while ago, cost of frames on top.

Purchased two pairs 2 years ago no problems with varifocals and good vision corridor. Recent eyetest at Specsavers the dispensing assistant commented on how good the lenses were. Quote from specsavers was quite frankly laughable. Went back to asda ordered one pair varifocal glasses and one pair varifocal sunglasses, £99 for both and received within 10 days. This deal is even better! Asda don't charge extra for thinner lenses unlike others. I wanted to make sure i got the same lenses as two years ago so i asked and was told i had shamir lenses. Wife has also had varifocals and also no problem. Do yourselves a favour and break the tradition of using the big names.

Please be aware that ASDA use the very cheapest Varifocal lenses if you have previously purchased varifocals from a reputable opticians you will be disappointed.

I have used Asda's optical service for some 6 years,1st class product's,great service and great prices and have never found them to be pushy to have new glasses,have saved a lot of money over the time.

I went there for my eye test. I was wearing varifocals from Boots at the time. I chose new frames about the same size as the ones I was wearing and they told me that they were too small for varifocals, so I had to choose bigger frames. I thought they may be right as I wasn't 100% happy with my varifocals from Boots. Alas I was wrong the varifocals were really bad. I could see better with my old ones. I went to Asda because they were a lot cheaper but wouldn't go back. But maybe some Asda's are better.

not true, their standard varifocals are shamir branded which are premium varifoclas with a pretty decent corridor. All their varifoclas will have an anti reflective coating and depending on your prescription will be thinned down. Just go to one of the big chains and ask how much this lens will cost, pretty confident it will be nowhere near £40 complete with a frame!. You can however pay a little more and go for arguably one of the best varifocals on the market, Varilux phsio.

I have 2 pair of varifocals from Asda ,cost less than previous purchases for one pair from ,D & A ,vision express and specsavers ,they also seem more scratch resistant ,just because something is expensive doesn't mean it is better,
