Nationwide. apparently all greenhouses are going to only be stocked online so all store stock is to be cleared!
all frames reduced to £25!
all bases reduced to £5!
all packs of glass reduced to £5!
I picked up a 6x4 green aluminium set including frame and base for £25, and 3 packs of glass at a fiver each!!
this was from the Plymouth store but is nationwide.

Bought a great polycarbonate one end of 2014 for £40 or so...they do wobble a bit in the wind though....hence can be noisy...fixed ours with metal bands to reduce movement..its been a great little greenhouse.

I didn't get any glass at all as i have kids and wanted the best of both worlds - A greenhouse but a safe one so i didn't plan on using glass. I don't intend to take the sheets out in winter but if a Major storm was predicted over the winter with polycarbonate it gives me the option to take the panels out if needed and i could just wrap them up and put somewhere safe until safe to put them back in. I know this it a bit OTT but i could see this blowing over in very strong winds, but then so do fence panels so damage could always be a option. ( all depends where you put your greenhouse)
I think i am going to screw the frame to the 6" base ( you could always get a glue for this from most DIY shops if your not very diy competent ) Then i can but a few bricks in the inside of the 6" base to weigh it down. You could also get a few bags of sand on each corner and tie it down for the winter.
You don't need to measure all the sheets , I brought 20 sheets of 2' X 4' 4mm thick. I used 17 1/2 sheets.
For the sides i used 9 full sheets ( No cutting required ).
For the roof i used 4 full sheets - i had to cut about a 1/4" off all 4 , this might depend on how accurate your sheets where cut , might be dead on 2' might be just under / just over - mine where dead on so 1/4" off ( remember measure twice - cut once )
For the upper windows i just placed a sheet up to the frame and marked the angles , remember the clips that hook over your bottom panel, this upper window needs to sit on this clip so you get a overlap for the rain to dribble onto the lower panel. - If you are not sure you could always make a cardboard template.
If pictures speak louder than than words i can take the panels out and take some pics to show you.
Appoliges for the long post , hope it helps , If in doubt Ask - Advice is Free !
Doing the greenhouse was easy, uploading a picture ..... oh my days. . I hope it worked.

Did anyone get the instructions for the frame build? I just noticed that mine only came with base and glazing instructions.
Did anyone else get the frame instructions at all? Is it hard to figure out without instructions? If anyone has the time and kindness of heart to send me some shots of the instructions for the frame, that would be amazing, I can PM you or however this works  Thanks again!

Hi, thanks for your reply. I just went through the bins and found them, but realized that I only ever got the instructions for the glazing and the base, not for the actual greenhouse build itself. I remember glancing at them when I opened the package on arrival and wondering about the frame but being in a rush that day i never really thought about it until I've come to build it lol. So yeah, I have the base and glazing instructions, but nothing for the frame. All the parts have code numbers on them and I haven't a clue where to start, tried using the picture on the box but it's useless lol.
I have everything laid out on the patio and spent about 30 minutes scratching my head trying to figure the damn thing out lol, but I can't get in touch with anyone on my only free day of the week to get the damn instructions. If anyone has a copy they can take a few snaps of and e-mail me, I would be extremely grateful, and I'll post a pic of the finished thing to say thanks

Thank you so much for the link and your advise, it's very much appreciated
I used 17 1/2 sheets on my 6x4 so if my maths is correct you should need 21 1/2 sheets to complete a 6x6 ( if its the same style as mine ( see picture posted earlier ) That gives you no sheets for error so you might want to order a few more just incase , you always have some spare then if you ever need to replace a panel.
Remember to fit the seal around the frame before you fit the sheets. Make sure the UV protected side faces outwards , And take into account the little hooks that hold your top side's sheet's in place, this is for the water to run off onto the lower panel. so bear this in mind when you cut the top sheets. If in doubt make a cardboard template before you cut the poly sheets and fit the hooks onto the lower panel and measure to the bottom of the hook. ( they are a about 7mm (ish) deep so you should have around a 7mm (ish) overhang from the top and bottom sheet if that makes sense )
Fit the door at the end as per instructions. Don't over tighten the nuts as i had a few bolts snap for that reason.
If you get stuck just ask. You can use scissors to cut the poly ( i used a stanley knife and spirit level )
Hope this helps and good look, It will look fab when done.

Just polycarbonated my frame. £65 for the polycarbonate off eBay with next day delivery. 2'x4' sheets 4mm thick. Easy to cut with a Stanley knife for the angles. Just leave a 3mm gap for expansion and make sure you have the UV protection side facing outwards. Nice and safe for the kids now.( 6x4 greenhouse)

More than welcome, hope I have helped in some way. Just had another thought, you could also use railway sleepers which might be more easy on the eye depending on where the greenhouse is going. You can paint them any colour you wanted, still get the extra height in the house, just screw the frame to them. Should be good for 10 years or more if treated correctly . They are on offer at wicked for 4 for 3 at the moment too.

Might sound to simple but what about just taking the tiles up where the greenhouse is going to go and level the soil for the base.
Next option would be to put bricks down ( cemented) or dense blocks ( concrete blocks) on the flat also cemented to give you a level surface on top of the tiles.
Or just take up the tiles , put dense blocks down on the soil which would require no cementing and level them that way.
This would also add about 4" to your height as well which would give you more height inside your house.

18 Mar 16#213
If it's a 6x6 glass greenhouse I would just screw it or glue it to the base ( adhesive has come a long way with modern technology) metal to metal adhesive.
And you can get self tapping metal screws if screwing. ( with a cordless drill ) just ask your neighbours if you haven't got one.
Just make sure it's on a level surface. And rub the two mating faces with sand paper to get a rough surface for better adhesion if glueing.
There is so much weight in that greenhouse the only thing that will blow it over is it sliding off the base.
This is just my opinion and others will probably disagree with this.
Just think how heavy those packs of glass where. Only a hurricane will blow that over if done and positioned correctly.
I fully appreciate that not everyone is diy skilled , I can put my hand to most things but the iron has always baffled me. Leave that to the boss.
lxx to englands28
20 Mar 16#214

It's a glass greenhouse, 6x6 with base, will it be okay if I just use the base without securing the base to the ground? The tiles are not 100% even though. The greenhouse will be standing in the corner of the garden (a very small one, 4x4.5 meters)
I have tiles in the garden, could anyone please let me know if I need to use concrete to fix the base to the tiles first?
Many thanks

18 Mar 16#211
The easiest way to hold your base down would be to use a metal to concentrate adhesive which you can buy from most Diy shops. ( depending on what sort of tile you have as they might not stick to porcelain tiles )
Depending on how thick your tile is you could also screw straight into your tile/slab. ( with a raw plug etc)
Is it a glass greenhouse or poly ? If it is glass I wouldn't worry to much about it as there is a fair bit of weight in the greenhouse. Plus you won't damage your tiles if you ever come to move the greenhouse.

For those still after a greenhouse or base I've not long got back from the Grantham B&Q with a 6x4 greenhouse and 2 no2 glass. They have 1 more 4x6, and a few 6X6 and 8x6. They also had a few base's 1pack of no1 and no3 glass if anyone lives local.
Just for info, greenhouse with polycarbonate does blow over as I found out Tuesday ( wasn't surprised ).( wasn't screwed down )
Greenhouse screwed down and loaded with bricks inside the 6" base doesn't blow over in stronger winds we had last night ( Wednesday) ( was very strong wind as it kept waking me up, or that was me thinking the neighbours and just inherited a greenhouse)
Still standing strong and all sheets intact.
So don't be scared to use polycarbonate if you can't get hold of the glass. Oh and screw it down !
Happy hunting !

Yes there is a window that you can open in the roof which has a latch, like an old fashioned window. The auto opener replaces that latch and opens automatically when it gets too hot.

2 Mar 16#194
anybody seen any cheap auto vents in the Sheffield area?
Norma Snockers

On my old greenhouse the vent replaced an existing pane
englands28
1 Mar 16#191
The glass auto open vent would only apply if you already have a opening window in the roof. They are 2 bars ( well where when I last had one ) that are on a hinge. Connecting to you window frame and window and works by heat, when it gets hot in there it opens, when it cools they shut..
But you already need to have a opening unless it comes as a complete set. Hope this helps.

the poly frame is probably more flimsy than the glass one since it has to support less weight, ive put up a few greenhouses for my mates and the glass ones had thicker aluminium struts than the poly ones.
could also have to do with how the glass/ poly is held in the frame.

Most of the glass is 2ft x 2ft (610mm), if you do a local search on ebay you often find people selling used glass at reasonable prices - roughly £2 a sheet
Obviously this would require local collection
rumuk
23 Feb 16#136
thanks any idea of a reasonable source for glass, can imagine it costing quite a bit
rumuk
23 Feb 16#134
it would be great for an update how yous get on with polycarbonate glass and the size to use e.t.c
tredegar71 to rumuk
23 Feb 16#135
Polycarbonate is not really suitable as it flexes and is likely to pop out of the frames
Glass also has the advantage of weight making the whole structure more stable

Like many others, I have got just the base and frame and no glass at all and there is none in stock in whole of the midlands. What other materials can be used? Boxes clearly say on them 'Not suitable for Polycarbonate'. Any suggestions please.
beeyon to maj2509
23 Feb 16#121
There is some stock in the midlans but we're keeping quiet about it, when we've aquired it all we'll put it on ebay for a fair profit collect only, of course - £28 No2 pack, £20 No1 pack, £17 No4 pack - bargain !
As for alternative materials, you could possibly use thin mild steel plate - very rigid, but has the disadvantage of your plants not growing at all
-=blootoon=- to maj2509
23 Feb 16#124
4mm polycarb should work fine but you might need to fit an extra strut here and there to make it more rigid.

Polycarbonate
Thanks in advance
Got friends coming to help - they will probably go down the brick route
Next option would be to put bricks down ( cemented) or dense blocks ( concrete blocks) on the flat also cemented to give you a level surface on top of the tiles.
Or just take up the tiles , put dense blocks down on the soil which would require no cementing and level them that way.
This would also add about 4" to your height as well which would give you more height inside your house.
What if the surface is not level? The tiles are actually for internal use, not suitable for the garden, done by the previous owner...
I can't iron either :disappointed:
It's a glass greenhouse, 6x6 with base, will it be okay if I just use the base without securing the base to the ground? The tiles are not 100% even though. The greenhouse will be standing in the corner of the garden (a very small one, 4x4.5 meters)
Do you mean using this? http://www.diy.com/departments/bq-greenhouse-base-anchor-kit-kit-of-1/189059_BQ.prd
That's probably men's job, seems to be too complicated for my limited intelligence :disappointed:
Thanks again!
Many thanks
Depending on how thick your tile is you could also screw straight into your tile/slab. ( with a raw plug etc)
Is it a glass greenhouse or poly ? If it is glass I wouldn't worry to much about it as there is a fair bit of weight in the greenhouse. Plus you won't damage your tiles if you ever come to move the greenhouse.
For anyone interested in a full copy of the assembly manual, go here
610mm x 545mm = 2 sheets ( Code J4-5)
610mm x 464mm x 38? = 8 sheets ( Code J4-6)
Thanks very much

Hurry as not many left in stock.
Many thanks
But you already need to have a opening unless it comes as a complete set. Hope this helps.
Rubbish reviews though
I did see a "glass greenhouse auto-vent" on sale for £5, but didn't put one of those by as I didn't know if the greenhouse had a vent !
Thanks again.
Does either the 6x4 or 6x6 have an opening vent?
Thanks in advance.
B&Q referred me to Gardman, the supplier, however I was told that's got nothing to do with them. Called B&Q customer service, told me nothing they could do either... :disappointed:
4 x 610 x 544
1 x 610 x 467
1 x 610 x 229
2 x 610 x 234 x 20
hope this helps

You can make No2s from enough No3s - you just need to cut the triangles or buy them separately from a glazier.
Many thanks
I used 13 full 2x4 sheets for the roof and sides then cut 4 sheets to suit for the door, and upper angle Windows. I'll post a picture when I get to my laptop.
Hope this helps someone.
Could anyone let me know where to get glass No 4 as well, have been to 4 stores showing stock available but none had it. I have ordered 2xglass No 2, will need 1xglass No 4 for 6x4 according to the print on packages of the glass?
Any clarification appreciated, many thanks in advance!
By the way, the package says "pack 1 of 2", but I don't have anything else apart from 2 packs of glass No 2, I know I will need glass No 4, however should there be "pack 2 of 2"???

could also have to do with how the glass/ poly is held in the frame.
Is it possible to post a picture showing the size of glasses in No 4? Went to 4 stores but can't find any although 3 stores showing they have them in stock!
Many thanks
Thanks
Has anybody seen the polycarbonate panels for the frames anywhere? I now I can just buy the stuff and cut it to size but feeling a bit lazy at the moment
Thanks again
Was it just the frames, or the glass as well?
Thanks again.
Obviously this would require local collection
Glass also has the advantage of weight making the whole structure more stable
So, looks like I'm all sorted. Thanks again.
As for alternative materials, you could possibly use thin mild steel plate - very rigid, but has the disadvantage of your plants not growing at all
pity they've not reduced the staging yet, could do with some.
They had 6x4 poly ones for £50.
Might help someone
Can anyone help ,i just bought the 6ft x 6ft green painted aluminium frame and base green house.
The bar code number is 0383 4695 what glass packs do i need?
That makes sense. Nearly asked too but in a rush! :sunglasses:
I didnt bother because there was no glass to go with them.
B & Q bloke said a lot of the glazing packs were broken, suggesting real glass.
Bought a 6x6 and base but if I can't find suitable glazing cheap enough, then it'll go back .
Dewsbury still had quite a few greenhouses in stock and plenty of number 1 and 2 glass packs.
I bought an 8'x6' greenhouse, polycarbonate window pack, and a 4'x6' greenhouse all for £5 each, I think they may have been further knocked down since the other day!
no glass though, does anybody know the glass size is it 24"x24".thanks.
Also had some outdoor storage boxes reduced.
They had at least half dozen 6x6 with no base for £25, but only an extra £5 for the base, they had loads of them left.
No glass packs instore.
In the Colchester store they had a few 6x4 6x6 6x8 glass and polycarbonate base and frames in stock for £5/£25 and two open 6x6 glass frame boxes for £15, but they looked like they had lots of bits missing. If your cheeky like me, you'd probably get them cheaper, would be good for spares.
I just went and bought a 6x6 for £25 and a base for £5 but only one pack of 6x6 panels. I'm now wondering if I should have bought more???
I could see 1 on the base, 2 on the greenhouse and there weren't any numbers on the panels !!! Any help would be appreciated.
I brought a 6x4 and needed 1 x pack of number 4 and 2 x pack of number 2 glass. and I brought 1 extra of each as they were only a fiver for when I inevitably break a few panels putting it together!
Heat added though because I'm sure that many will be able to grab a nice little deal will this info
