Voted hot, went santorini last year, defo recommend - don't stay in Oia, too touristy and crowded. There best views are found in imerovigli- we had a balcony right on the cliff, with nothing in front of us, amazing sunsets and views. Firostefani and Fira are walking distance, lots of restaurants, and can either hike or get a cheap bus to Oia.

Yep hit the nail on the head, Oia is a nice place to see in the day, would avoid it for sunset. Great night time walks between imerovigli and Fira, with some good night life in Fira as you said.

We had a junior suite at kasimatis studios (which was amazing), but we actually ended up asking to be downgraded for the last few nights, still great room (although smaller) but the room was lower down and right in the cliff (so if you fell off you're in the sea) - as such there was literally nothing between you and the sunset - wife and I went for our first anniversary, great views from the jacuzzi on the balcony - in Oia, same sun, but with about 50,000 people elbowing you for space... Defo know which one I'd pick!

We stayed in the Vinsanto Villas in Imerovigli and we had the same experience of amazing views and relatively quiet compared to Oia.

I concur. I walked from Fira to Oia along the coast and the hotels I saw along the way in Imerovigli looked incredible. I made it in time for the sunset in Oia, but man it was crowded. All the restaurants were packed and every square and piece of space was overcrowded. Oia might be nice during the day, but it's awful in the evening around sunset time. See the sunset, grab a kebab at the bus station (yes, that is my top tip) and head back to Fira for the late night shopping and views. Santorini is amazing.
