I was on it - but their data usage reports/warnings aren't v.impressive, and no tethering is also not v.impressive.

I actually prefer Asda Mobile's £10 bundle (1000 minutes, unltd texts & tetherable 2GB of data).

https://mobile.asda.com/bundles

You don't need to give over any direct debit details...just add credit to your top up card, and the bundle will automatically apply. If you do it right, then just add the £10 each month to initiate the bundle -- then if you go over your data allowance for example, Asda cannot deduct any money. That's my kind of 'cap'

Just called up Three to cancel and swap over to ID (called to get a PAC code) but they've offered me 600mins + Unlimited Texts + 1GB data all for £7 (currently on the older £6.90 plan with 200 mins + 3000 texts + 500mb data).

Think I may call them and stick with it. Just putting this out there for other people thinking of leaving Three for them.

Only 3g data though

Not that you can utilize the benefits of 4g with only 1gb data.

I think it's the height of ignorance to demand people not post what is probably the best value for money 1month sim only sim deal. Not everyone checks the site every day, not everyone sees every deal each time it's posted. If you're clearly checking the site as much as you seem to indicate then maybe you should start contributing yourself with some things you actually see as a deal. The OP was well within their rights to post this again as per the rules around submissions found here;

I would like to point out, in ID's favour, that, the day after the recent terrorist attacks in Brussels, I (and, presumably, all ID customers) received the following message from them:

"Because of today's events in Brussels, we won't charge you anything to call or text Belgium from the UK today or tomorrow to help you contact friends & family. All calls and texts will be free until midnight 23/3."

I thought that was a wonderful gesture and, in my experience, unique for any company (in any industry( to be so generous and helpful.

I went for the £10 a month 500 miinutes and 4Gb package (also advertised on this thread), thinking that this would be enough. The trouble with ID is that if you realise that you may go over your package and wish to go for a higher one, you can't and are stuck. Your £5 cap will get eaten up quickly each month, you'll then have to buy an additional minute or data pack, and you end up paying a fortune each month.

Today I have obtained a PAC code and ordered the 6Gb deal with TPO for £12.49.

Anyone know why they are happy for you to leave instead of changing your monthly package?
wenttoabetterplace
17 Mar 16 1 #415
Sounds like you were pretty silly to have gone for a 250 minutes a month package! Life Mobile via USwitch would be a better option (1000 minutes, unltd texts & 2GB data for £10 per month

I gave them the benefit of the doubt and signed up a month ago. I've used all my minutes and therefore gone right through my £5 cap in a few minutes......that's £15. I have had to buy a top up (another £3), to get me through the next week, and when I call they tell me that I can't upgrade my monthly package!!!! Why?

I am leaving. Got my PAC today without trouble.

EE plans allow you to use data any way you choose, be it in a phone, tablet, MiFi, by tethering or in a USB dongle. This is regardless of whether it's a phone plan, a MiFi plan or if it's PAYG or Pay Monthly.

Old Orange and T-Mobile plans don't allow tethering.
GrumpyBob
14 Mar 16 #410
One last thing that might persuade me to switch (again!): does the EE deal include tethering? Can't find any T&Cs that tell me yaY OR NAY. Being on the ID £5/month deal, I miss being able to use my phone as a wireless hotspot.

i did the same rang tesco..im on 750m ,5000texts and 1gb of 4g data..for £10 per month rolling contract..told them i want my pac code, they offered me 2gb of data but reduced the minutes to 250 minutes, for the same price but on a 12 month sim pnly contract...my present one is on a monthly basis and i can cancel anytime, but now that i have taken the new 12months sim only with them..im not to sure now..as i can get THIS here from id with 4gb of data...but it says it "includes 12 months double data already",so does that mean after 12 months it goes back down to 1GB?...not to sure but may cancel tesco mobile and go for this..

do these prices include vat or do they add on vat ?

As an update I found if I am upstairs at work I get h+ internet signal strength. Only used it to check on an ebay auction a few times, send an email, and check my twitter. Turned it off every time between checking to only use the app and find it used 400mb of internet? Max time of usage all together was no more than 10 minutes and phone/app updates are on WiFi only. Defiantly calling tomorrow as even giff gaff isn't that bad.
jazzuk777
13 Mar 16 #403
Actually there is some logic to this. For example, Skype adjusts bandwidth to the speed to balance quality/experience. So 4g users will generally use more data than 3g users on it, assuming similar signal strength. Sure this is true of other applications too.

It's my first time going on one of these redemption deals. These contract resellers basically sell pay monthly contracts and receive commission for each one sold from the underlying network operator. They then offer this amount (or a %) to the customer in return for taking out this deal. You have to submit bills at predetermined dates (certain billing months) to claim some money back (redemption). These companies hope that the customers forget to send their bill in (easily done online now) so they can keep their full commission. In these deals, you just have to be organised.

I have ordered this SIM via TCB. So far so good. Got email saying its been dispatched 2 hours after order last Friday ( 11 March). Got email Saturday saying DPD will deliver Monday. I was given option to change delivery date which i have done for Tuesday. I will update experience late.

I know this may be a rare experience but this deal is working well for me. Even TCB recorded the deal, and even the iD app is working well for me.

Wow! That's a great deal. You have to go through a cashback procedure 4 times over the course of the 12 month contract in order to get it to be £3/month. but still worth it. And it's with EE (which seems to be the best network in terms of coverage and quality of service and customer service. I recently moved to ID and all the negative feedback is making me nervous. To me (at least), saving a few quid a month isn't worth the worry of unreliable service.

The whole operation at ID seems pretty chaotic. For example, last night I got a message from ID stating that I have used 60% of my data allowance (1GB/month). However, having just logged in to my account, I find that it says I have 683MB remaining.

And you can only log in to your own account on their website by going via a roundabout route. If you click on the "Sign In" link on their website it will time out (i.e. page not available). It has been like this for a week, now. When I reported this to them a few days ago the rep I spoke to said it was the first they'd heard of it (bullhonky!) This does not sound like the sort of company you can rely on ...

ID is there to take your money.

They start charging me before I received the SIM card; immediately I try cancelling the contract which took over 30mins waiting on the phone. They emailed and confirmed the contract is cancelled and promised no money will be taken. Just checked my bank statement ....Yes, they took money from me. Another 30 mins on the phone, refund promised but no apology. Apparently, there is no way for me to stop them taking money once I have signed the direct debit agreement. Excuse me, are you suggesting my name is not Chas?

And hello unlike your average leftist lickspittle with some form of paranoid notion that big brother will ship them off to Guantanamo Bay for texting their devotion to Che Lynch I do have a past and all that comes with it.

I have an uncommon surname, a son with exactly the same name as me and really do have a very colourful past which is exactly why I don't proclaim my surname from the rooftops.

Most in my social circle are what hypocritical moral crusaders would describe as shifty to say the least, my 'privacy' not that there is such a thing nowadays is far more important for my family and my friends than it is for me because of what I've just said.

Even on here to a world of strangers I don't pretend to be someone or something I'm not. So when I tell you one of my children's godfathers has only just returned to the UK after serving a ten stretch on the other side of the world you might appreciate why I don't have my full name up in neon lights online.

Better luck pulling that manoeuvre elsewhere because it's rather irrelevant on me as I've just demonstrated.
pibpob
6 Mar 16 #347
A common mistaken assumption about privacy is that you only need to worry about it if you're doing nefarious things. If you didn't care about it you'd use your real name on here.
I don't wish that - I just wish you'd stop your crusade against people who use text messages - which includes asking rhetorical questions.

I stopped being involved in even the most minor form of any criminal activity at least five years ago now so I really got nothing to worry about as regards my 'privacy' but as you wish I'll ask the same question again I posed earlier ............ do these free texts cover 'picture messages' and foreign numbers?

I believe not, and even though I'm clearly an illiterate uneducated untravelled chav vermin dreg that follows an unfashionable hated football club I do spend most of my time in foreign fields.

Oh and though I may look n even act the little Englander I do actually have friends stretching across Europe from Belfast to Belgrade.and then some too.

I don't know why you've got such a downer on text messages. They work fine and if you value your privacy you don't use WhatsApp.
Chasloyal
6 Mar 16 #343
Do these free texts include foreign numbers and picture messages?

Erm no, which is exactly why operators give so many of them away in bundles and seem to factor their charges around data far more.

Smartphones cost pennies these days and the world's a much smaller place than it was even 5 years ago when it comes to media and communications.

As I've already mentioned, they would not give so many texts away if the 'medieval' SMS wasn't on the decline, it is what it is

Depends what gym it is. Some of them go on your credit file, some don't.

By far the best network for you would be LIFE Mobile. They are owned and run by EE so you're in safe hands, and don't credit check you.

Take a look at these threads:

http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/lifemobile-unlimited-minutes-unlimited-text-6gb-data-13-45-30-day-2401181

http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/3000-mins-unlimited-texts-3gb-data-life-mobile-10-through-uswitch-2395319

http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/life-mobile-6-sim-only-1500-min-unlimited-text-1gb-3g-data-2395049

You can also try The People's Operator, who also don't credit check you, but they're not so well liked on here as their customer service is dire:

http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/unlimited-minutes-unlimited-texts-6gb-data-30-day-rolling-contract-12-49-tpo-2392579

Hope this helps.

The Asda offer is better IMO, and no contract required. Just top up your account and as long as the correct amount is available in credit, the £10 offer will automatically apply each month.

Alternatively, give Life Mobile a shot via USwitch. Another excellent deal...and because they use EE, they may well have a different credit check process.

One of lifes ironies, if you have no credit history you are put into the same category as someone who has had a patchy credit history. If you can get a credit card just make a few purchases and pay them off before the credit charges bite and I imagine you start getting a positive credit record.

Which sounds good, but is it capped? . I wouldn't give any young person access to a contract without a cap, it's just too easy to to overspend the allowances.
My lad has been on a Tesco capped contract for 3 years, cos they were the only company reliably capping back then. He only has 1gb of data, but manages fine by downloading what he wants over our WiFi.
Any more data and it would undermine our sanction of cutting off the WiFi when homework isn't done

DO NOT GO WITH ID!!

ive had on going billing issues with them as they kept over charging me. even went as far as reporting it to the police as fraud. still didnt get me any where. Been going on for three months+ resulted in me having to change number as has cost me if excess of £1000 of lost time on phone calls and days taken off to go into car phone ware house due to there CS being so appauling over the phone.....Made over 20 visits to cpw who have at least at my local store stopped selling id contracts.

oh and they have also negativily impacted my credit rating as i refused to pay them and cancelled my direct debit.

nearly ended up getting arrested in CPW as the staff was getting annoyed with me etc, they thought its perfectly acceptable for money to keep being taken out of my account.

Steer well clear

go with the asda payg deal looks much better............do they use vodafone still?

I've been with ASDA mobile for about 18 months. Now in the process of switching to the Life Mobile uswitch deal.

Apart from Life being a better deal, getting anything sorted quickly by ASDA is impossible. Sometimes 5 disconnected calls before getting through, 13 days to get a replacement SIM, 8 days and still waiting to port number to the new SIM (technical problems apparently!). I've got a new phone here that I've had for three weeks and still can't use!

The only thing I'll say in Asdas favour is that the staff are very nice to speak to, but the problem is they quote standard times for things but when that doesn't happen they are a bit clueless as to what is actually happening.

I just hope porting to Life doesn't get delayed for ages through Asdas incompetencies.

The customer service can be a bit patchy but I give them the opportunity to improve. When I asked about the double data deal they do at the moment I was told that soon they will be offering this to existing clients.

Note, their call centre is operated by a third party in Cape Town SA and it is a bit patchy as far as the CS standards we are use to in the UK but if you email them it is actually dealt by the UK based operation of Carphone warehouse (which is better in most respects).

I can't even remember what tethering is. Not really clued up in mobile network terms.
The thing with 4G is that it's not really that necessary for such a low data cap.

torn between iD and life mobile.
i'm currently on o2 and buy their big bundles I like the flexibility of not needing to worry i'll go over and having the choice when to top up and start my bundle again after the 30 day period and not having to give any notice.
but to think i could pay half and get almost the same bundle i'm very tempted. i've never done a contract before though and am nervous from rumours about how hard it can be to cancel. I mean surely if I give the required notice (usually 30days for a monthly contract) I don't see how the provider can REFUSE to let me leave and yet that seems to be some of the experiences people here are saying they've had.
I also not sure how I feel about a bill at end of month. I like the idea of capping but think it's only possible to cap on the shockproof plans on iD and the one most suited to me would be a goto plan.
little_green
21 Feb 16 #250
that implies if i wanted to leave the network and cancel my contract providing the 30day required notice period isnt sufficent enough, I would need to take the phone number from my iD sim and have it transferred to my new provider.
but surely that defeats the purpose of a 30 day contract. if you are providing the required notice period how can they just refuse to cancel the contract?

At this price, why would you have a "normal contract"? I nearly considered this but unfortunately it's £5 charge to cap it and let's face it nobody is in control when it comes to data so realistically it's going to cost £10 a month. Shame as if it was a fiver I'd have gone with it but sticking with giff gaff

I got them to reduce my maximum cap to £1.00, so the most my bill will ever be is £7.00.

Every single day I see multiple of these ID Mobile deals as "HUKD Picks", with no hot/cold buttons on the front page to vote them down to where they belong.

This site must be getting some serious comission from ID, and ID must be getting desperate because of their horrific reputation for incredibly poor customer service.

Mark my words: ID will not be around for long. If you do decide to become a customer, please come back later and let me know about all the problems you'll experience.

I signed up for the 2GB (4GB for 12 month) deal with ID as I wanted the extra data. I was pretty concerned given some of the reviews but have been pleasantly pleased so far. Only changed over about 5-6 days ago so appreciate it's really early but everything has worked well so far and I have no reason for complaint.

Cold. Poor customer service and the LIFE Mobile deal via USwitch is much better. Plus, LIFE have great customer service (both from experience and widely reported).

I'm not impressed with these HUKD picks. Surely they make enough money from commission without resorting to giving undue prominence to inferior deals simply because the commission is higher.

AVOID!!! Just check their own FB page for all you need to know. They're useless.

On top of all the problems i had setting my account up, i'm not even confident how accurate their metering is. For some reason on ID I seemed to be using a lot more data than I usually do. Since switching back to Giffgaff and now to 3 again, my usage has normalised. Even more suspiciously I somehow manage to use 25MB of data before I'd even plugged the SIM card into my phone. Any ideas of how I managed that is greatfully received.

What does the tethered data mean?
Splashmo to mandy_rh
19 Feb 16 #192
It means using your phone's data to connect another device to the internet via a personal hotspot.

For example, you go online on your smartphone and enable it's hotspot option. You can now connect a WiFi only device, like an iPad/Tablet/Laptop etc to your phone as if it was a WiFi router.

ID customer service is beyond dreadful. They majorly ballsed up my DD and then suspended the SIM with 2 hours notice. You then ring them to try and get it reactivated - and you put in your Amex details (the robot asks for the "4 digit security code on the front of your card" - so it must be set up for Amex you think) - doesn't work, no explanation. Do it again, doesn't work. Go through to staff "we don't accept Amex" - no apology or anything. That's just one example of how flawed their systems are.

And if you'd like to administer your account online, forget it, the account section of their website goes down for whole weeks at a time.

To top it off, and I don't know if this is a Three thing or an ID thing - the 4G speed is terrible by comparison to EE. In fact, I'd say EE/Life 3G+/HSDPA feels faster than ID 4G.

For redemption, the amount of organisation needed is elementary, just take a minute to enter the dates into a diary/calendar, what one has to do, which is the key bit, is to "take out of bed" promptly, redeem immediately upon a calendar reminder. A lot of people fail to redeem because of syndrome, at least 30% of people I think, " I'll do this later", "I'll do this tomorrow"..etc. then forgets.

Just to let you know my experience on ID mobile. I have just a lodged a case with the Ombudsman for reasons stated in here i.e. failed to disconnect a 30 day SIMO deal. They kept on advising that the disconnection had failed (blaming Three) and they would pass to 2nd line support. They never responded to me i would always have to chase them and even then there emails were scripted. I lost patience, waited 8 weeks and informed them i would pass to the ombudsman which i have now done. I have sent all copies of my emails and even a signature proof from Royal Mail where they signed for a complaint i had sent by post and appeared not to respond. Others may have a better time with them but these Guys are out of control and i wouldn't take the risk.

So i then had to pay another 3 months charge!! So i cancelled the Direct Debit, then they rang me and said they will have to now charge me 3 pounds a month backdated as i dont have a direct debit!!

I said sort the bill out and ring me and i will pay, i said this 4 times!! During this time i couldnt log on to see my bill as they had locked the account!!

The next correspondence is not a bill but a bayliff!!! I have NEVER had so many issues with a company, i have never not paid a bill and this is the first time i have had to use the ombudsmen

i left orange/ EE as the coverage is terrible, i find my combination of 4g with iD (three) and GiffGaff (o2) better in my dual sim phone. So not to keen on a network that uses EE (from my experience) but the Life deal does look very good for the money, although i dont really need that amount of minutes!
never udnerstand this stuff about EE having the best/widest coverage as in the North East its pretty pants... the 3G was always **** when i was with Orange too.. didnt ealise how bad till i used my phone in Aus with a telstra sim and it was so much quicker! so when i got home i changed networks not long after,
Smartguy1
14 Feb 16 #122
Orange did the same to me when I left. No access to account. They haven't run a credit check on you or linked the contract to your credit rating so just cancel your direct debit. If they contact you to ask why you have canceled the direct debit ring them up and ask why you owe them money. Their records will show when your number was ported and they are not allowed to charge you for a service they are not providing. Hopefully they will apologise and you will here nothing more. If they do contact you after that give them some bad press on their facebook and twitter accounts.

Hopefully one of their Senior Marketing Managers will view all press relating to ID and do something about it. It's not very hard to get something right and provide a good service, something ID needs to learn and fast.

Mobuzzing
14 Feb 16 #118
I did not receive the SIM until 4 days later; I don't think it is fair that they start charging for a service that I have not used. The lost of money is less relevant, what worried me was that I received a barrage of email saying I have set up lots of things but I did not. They were taking more control over my account than I preferred.

I did cancel the direct debit online but somehow they managed to charge me, that worries me even more!
Dealier
14 Feb 16 1 #117
Nonsense.

It looks like you don't know the difference between bits and bytes.
The speed is measured in bits/second, the amount of data in bytes.

A byte is 8 bits. Typical 3G speed might be 6.8Mb/S (megabits per second), but it's definitely not 6.8 MB/s (Megabytes per second)

A 1GB file will take around 20 minutes to download at typical 3G speed. Eight times as long as you're saying.

Don't bother, poo network out there, read loads of bad reviews for them but figured 'can't be that bad' and went with them anyway. Big mistake. A month after ordering the sim I still didn't have it, rang up and after being forwarded through 9 different people in the space of 15 minutes they told me my order had not gone through properly but they didn't know what was wrong so they couldn't fix it??? I then told them to just forget about it and cancel it, which they said they did. They did not. I had to ring up again and was once more put through 7 different people in the space of 15 minutes before I could finally cancel it. They do cheap deals to try and lure you in but trust me, it's not worth it. People who did get their sims reported massive bills because there caps didn't work etc etc.

no issues with them really... wonder if they can change me this one without starting up a new sim, as i cant be arsed with the number porting incase it f's up... i rarely use my data as im at work or home where theres wi-fi of course.. but it'd be nice to have the extra buffer if i ever needed it, as i only use about 200-300mb normally in a month

[edit] just rang them (7777 from iD mobile for free) and they dont seem to offer the service to upgrade my current deal, i'd have to take it out again.. but they cant transfer a number from iD to iD.. i'd have to transfer to another network, then transfer back to iD... bit of a ball-ache.. not sure i can be bothered with the hassle just yet..

You'd be better off switching to Life Mobile I reckon. More minutes, texts & double the data for an extra £1 per month. Plus, they use EE - so you get 2G network coverage as well as 3G for data.

I'm very tempted but don't want to switch to ID and then find out in a few months that they switch me to their £7 a month plan for me to keep 1Gb of data, and I end up paying more than what I pay now with another provider.

Hey I odered this this morning looked like it all went through ok but when I checked the email they have swapped it for the 500mb sim anyone else had the same problem
jazzuk777 to tomd84
14 Feb 16 #97
It's because it's a promotion on the 500mb sim where they double the data for 12 months. My id app says it's the 500mb tariff but shows 1gb of data in my allowance. I got this the previous time it was on offer around black Friday.

Solly92
14 Feb 16 1 #82
Average 3G download speed on for example EE is 6.8MB/s 4G on EE is 18.4MB/s.

Downloading 1GB on 4G takes 54 seconds, on 3G 147 seconds. An average saving of 3 seconds per day (if you use the whole 1GB allowance) - like anyone is really going to notice or think it worth paying extra to save 3 seconds a day.

The £5 cap is on top of the £5 a month! So actually its a £10 cap!
Smartguy1
14 Feb 16 #80
If it's been more than 30 days since your new sim card was working then yes cancel your direct because from the day it was ported was the day that your contract ended. 30 days is long enough for them to invoice you for any 'extras' that may have been added to you account, i.e extra data etc. If I remember rightly my contract with Virgin is 30 days in advance. Not entirely sure but 30 days is long enough.

As you have received a pac code from them and ported your number this is proof that you have cancelled your contract. Cancel your direct debit as this normally instigates a response providing of course the company is expecting funds from you in respect of goods supplied. Are they still invoicing you or is it just a case of them taking the money. Bear in mind that if this is a direct debit they can control the amount and date when monies are taken from your account. They can cancel it and you can cancel it. If for some strange reason this was set up as a standing order they CANNOT cancel it as standing orders are your responsibility.

I would do one of two things. I would ask them on their facebook page why they are still taking money from you when you left however many days or months ago or I would ring them up and ask to be disconnected. When they say they are not providing you with any service I would ask why they are still taking your money. My guess is when you cancel your direct debit you won't hear anything more.

You can check your credit score and history. There is a company that advertise on the tv where you can access it free of charge. There maybe no history of ID Mobile registering a 30 day rolling contract to your credit history. It may not be in their interest for £5.00 per month.

Let me know how you get on. I hate corporate companies who rip people off and the less I have to do with the DSG Retail group the better.

13 Feb 16 #79
You might be surprised, the criteria for 30 day rolling contracts aren't as high like normal contracts I've found.
jjay
13 Feb 16 #78
Thanks for the detailed explanation. I've always been on PAYG until now so never had this problem. I've already ported my number to another network and my account has been cancelled but they're still charging me for some reason. In this case can I just cancel the direct debit via my bank?
Smartguy1
13 Feb 16 #77
Forgot to add something. You have no proof that you have cancelled. Send them an email, write to them making sure you send it recorded and get a proof of posting. I found this on their website.

http://www.idmobile.co.uk/legal/terms-and-conditions

16. Notices

16.1 You may send us notices under or in connection with this Agreement:

16.1.1 by post to iD, P.O. Box 356, Unit 19, Southampton, SO30 2PG; or

16.1.2 by completing the Contact Us form at http://www.idmobile.co.uk/email-us.

16.2 Proof of sending does not guarantee our receipt of your notice. You must ensure that you have received an acknowledgement from us which should be retained by you.

Ask them on their facebook page why they are still taking money from you when you have cancelled.

The easiest thing is just ask them for a PAC code and stick it on a payg sim. As soon as the payg sim is working on the new provider count about 35/40 days or so and cancel your direct debit. If they are still charging you for a service they are not providing they will be in breach of their own terms. Tell them you have had enough and you are going to report them to watchdog. They love carphone warehouse.

Nonsense. 4G's better speed benefits you whether downloading large or small amounts of data.
Smartguy1
13 Feb 16 3 #75
No, not unless you are in breach of contract. For example, if you are on a 30 day rolling contract, your contract is for 30 days. They agree to supply you a service for 30 days and you agree to pay. If neither party cancels it is deemed the contract is rolling, i.e. from one month to the next and so on until such time they don't want to provide you a service or you don't want it anymore. You need to give them notice which is usually 30 days. The only time this could get sticky is if you cancel but they don't switch you off. That's why it is a good idea to ensure you ALWAYS port your number. They will not or should not be able to charge you for a number that no longer belongs to them. If they don't port your number you MUST continue to pay them as they are still providing you with a service even though you may not want it but you must do the following. Request a PAC code. If you don't issue the PAC code to a new network provider your contract will still continue. It shouldn't as you have requested to cancel but note the following.

They have to give you a PAC code to port your number by law. If they fail to do it you can report them to OFCOM. They have 5 days to give you your PAC Code. If they fail tell them you will report them to OFCOM. The fines are heavy and they will give you the code. As soon as you have got your PAC code give it to your new supplier. From the point your number can be used on the new company wait for the last bill to come in. It could be about 35 days. Ask them for a final bill by email. They may charge to post you one.

None of these companies want you to leave but I have had no issues porting my number from T-Mobile to Orange to Virgin. All professional and all supplying final invoice of account without me requesting it.

If you are not wishing to keep your number for whatever reason get yourself a free payg sim stick a small amount of credit on with 02, 3, Vodafone or whoever and port your number from said company to the payg sim. This gives you peace of mind that the number has been ported over and this company cannot charge you for a service they are not providing. That would be classed as illegal.

I'm on this at the moment. Only when I signed up it was 500MB but I got an extra 500MB for 12 months on a promotion. Effectively the same deal. Speeds and service great so far and customer service have been spot on.

I think they had tons of issues at launch, they're new, so it will take time for them to solve their customer service and system issues which seems to be what a lot of the early complaints were. Hope they stay afloat, finger's crossed, because it's great value for money.
wenttoabetterplace to Vanderlust

I was on it - but their data usage reports/warnings aren't v.impressive, and no tethering is also not v.impressive.

I actually prefer Asda Mobile's £10 bundle (1000 minutes, unltd texts & tetherable 2GB of data).

https://mobile.asda.com/bundles

You don't need to give over any direct debit details...just add credit to your top up card, and the bundle will automatically apply. If you do it right, then just add the £10 each month to initiate the bundle -- then if you go over your data allowance for example, Asda cannot deduct any money. That's my kind of 'cap'
preecey
13 Feb 16 1 #10
Two issues with that:
1. It's a redemption deal so only suited to the very organised
2. Vodafone don't cap data so you'll see your bill skyrocketing if you go only a little bit over your data allowance
skyblueox
13 Feb 16 1 #7
Only £7.50 for the same mins/texts at iD with 2GB data.

Life mobile have add-ons at £1 / 250MB if you do use the rather limited 1GB allowance.

Shame the next step up at Life is all the way to 3GB data (currently £10/month via USwitch)
