Was in my local Farmfoods this morning and noticed that they're selling three 2 litre bottles of fresh & semi skimmed milk for £2.

If the farmers are unhappy with what they receive for their produce they can sell their farms and get jobs. It is about supply and demand, at the moment there is a over supply of milk so the prices are low. What we are short of in this country are houses, if we used the farmland for houses it could solve some of the housing problems.

Or how about keep the remaining countryside we have and just use the huge amount of existing brownfield land instead?
Of course, developers don't like this as it's more complex/costly for them, diddums.

Hopefully the farmers get a profit on this

That would barely make a dent in the housing problem and meanwhile it would create a food crisis in near future. We would have to rely on imports and hope prices dont rise and of course those prices would be completely out of our control as would taxes on that food from abroad.

Plus using greenfield land doesn't help with the flooding problems we have.

Are grown adults really still paying unscrupulous individuals to steal the milk intended for baby cows? These same individuals who are now complaining that they no longer make enough profit from their morally illegitimate trade.

I want a cow. Any farmers selling one . I wonder what they retail for
You're all complaining about the farmer not getting his blood money, but forget that the cow didn't want to give anyone her milk, because, Yano, it's forced labour and you're not a baby calf now are you?

Lots of people assuming a drop in shop price = a drop in farmers' income. It's not even nearly as simple as that. Very often stores will sell below cost on basics like milk just to get you in the door. The biggest issue in the dairy world is not the bottle of milk you buy in your local shop - it's the worldwide glut of all sorts of 'milk products' (eg powdered), most of which never gets sold in retail environments but is used in the production of other items.

That works out to be 19 pence per pint or 76 pence for four pints if your find is correct. With the FF vouchers that brings milk down to a rediculously low price.

75p for one 2 litre. They charged me £2 for 2 last week, should have got to Iceland £1 for 4 pints.:stuck_out_tongue:
