I was kind of hoping that it would be a port of the first AvP game - from the Atari Jaguar!

There is no such thing as DRM free on Steam, I want to play Alien Isolation, and my son want to play Sins of a Solar Empire (a ten year old game), both of them from different studio's and both bought in shops, not steam. Guess what.... steam won't allow you to play 2 games that you've [i[bought[/i] on 2 different computers at the same time!
After a certain length of time, steam should disregard old games when they are played at the same time as newer games, but they don't.
I hate steam

Why use steam to install/play them, assuming you've got the physical disk if you bought it from a shop?

can you not run one of them in offline mode?

Because they automatically use Steam as a method of checking the licence is legit

These days just about every game needs to be played through Steam, even if it's bought on disc (unless it's come from EA or Ubisoft, in which case the retail versions would use Origin or UPlay respectively instead). The only difference buying retail makes these days is that you can install it from disc instead of downloading it, but they'd still have digital DRM. This is certainly the case for Alien: Isolation, although I know for a fact that the 10 year old retail copy of Sins of a Solar Empire does not use Steam, because I had it and had to sell it on eBay and rebuy it on Steam.
Steam absolutely does let you play two different games on two different computers at the same time, even under the same Steam account, although one of the computers will need to be in offline mode. I did this just last night, as my girlfriend was playing something on my desktop PC and I went and played something on my laptop. You should see this message -
And it will disconnect the first PC from Steam but won't stop it from playing the game.
If that doesn't work, just make a second Steam account for your son and use family sharing to give him access to your games. Then you won't even get that message, neither of you will need to play offline and he'll be able to keep track of his own achievements, etc. so that's a better solution overall anyway.
Also, as I said above, if you do indeed have a 10 (actually 8 ) year old retail copy of Sins of a Solar Empire then you can't be playing that on Steam as the retail copy doesn't use Steam - it wasn't added to Steam until 2011 and you would have had to rebuy it. Unless you're talking about Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion, which is only 3.5 years old.
Anyway, yes, Steam is DRM, but it doesn't stop you from playing two games at the same time. The solution is easy enough once you've got it setup so good luck!

I think you misunderstood my description, or I worded it wrongly. I didn't insinuate this was DRM free, I was simply stating the game has been cheaper in the past, but that was for a DRM free version.

Amazing game. I saw the deal and bought it before coming on here. I used to own a disk copy of the game. Be damned if I could ever find it. Quite handy having a copy on steam anyway.
Opening post
Has been cheaper, but for DRM free (this Steam keys for you, Elevation). I'm pretty sure this is one of the lowest prices for Steam.
