SMA are changing their packaging. I noticed that the old size was slightly bigger so took them to the till. They are coming up at £4.50 which is an absolute bargain at half price. The powder doesn't expire until 2017.

it's also to stop people swapping due to offers. at this age, stage 3 is allowed to be on offer (usually is during baby events too) to try and entice kiddies to stay on formula. we changed to cow milk as soon as our two were ready, didn't touch stage 3.

The government won't allow shops to sell formula milk for Babies not toddlers at less than the retail price. I think it's to promote breastfeeding. Your right like all products it seems SMA are reducing the size of the current tins from 900 to 800 grams. Any old stock is probably being sold to get rid of.

But this is not baby formula, this is toddler milk - toddler milks can be on sale and have price cuts etc, unlike formula for under 6 months.

SMA, and 90% of other baby formulas are made from cows milk, the others being goat milk and soya.
It is unheard of to have baby formula at 1/2 price, so heat added; although I agree that fresh milk is probably better, formula has its uses.
(M&S charged full price for SMA that had only 3 weeks left before expiry).

PS this is still made from cows milk so not suitable for lactose intolerance or cmp allergy

You're doing your kids a disservice by giving them formula instead of normal cows milk/ breast. Taste the stuff and you'll see how sweetened it is.

I managed to get 4 from my local they were high up on top of the shelving so I took to self serve to check price woman was shocked and said you can only have two you know, nope I'm shopping with my mum she bought the other two ha!

There's no limit on how many you can buy. Seems like the woman wanted some too.
I didn't want to use cow milk before my child turned 3.... IT was our choice and we didn't care that milk is cheaper.

This is formula for 1-3 year olds so ideal for post breastfeeding. not suggesting it as a substitute. Both our kids moved onto SMA post being breastfeed

Totally agree with you, but someone buying this type of formula is generally not breastfeeding but perhaps doesnt realise that cows milk can be used instead of toddler type milks.
