Picked this tv up at this price around Black Friday. Not a bad TV although input lag is a bit of a nightmare which can make the gaming experience a little below par. Also; when every pixel is black the backlight cuts out entirely which can be very noticeable on slow fades to black. I've gotten used to it but found it very annoying at first. The TV also defaults to its internal tuner when switched on and can't be changed - so if you're using a sky/virgin box be prepared to have to switch input every time you turn the tv on.

Smart functionally is decent and the anytime connectivity with my PS4 is pretty cool (I can use my TVs remote to switch it on and off, navigate the ps4 menus and control playback of blu-Ray's. Picture is good but not great.

A decent enough TV at a good price but not without its flaws. If you're desperate for a 60" then it's one of the best I've seen at a reasonable price - but with the price of OLEDs slowly dropping - it might be worth waiting if you're in no major rush.

No luck with turning off Dynamic Contrast unfortunately. Have tried every setting I could find and no way of switching it off. I wouldn't mind so much if the backlight shut off incrementally - but as it is it goes from black with the backlight to true black to black with the backlight in the space of about 12 frames and looks very odd. As mentioned - I've gotten used to it so it's not as big a deal now as it first was.

As for the gaming mode - it makes a slight difference to the input lag but not enough to make online fps games playable.

Samsung do not show this on their website but Rtings and several other reviewers have tested tested the JU6 series monitors and they are are 60Hz refresh rate. Remember this isn't the same as motion processing.

For those who are less informed.

JU6000 specifies that this is their entry level mid range TV. It has a 60Hz refresh rate as a result it is not that smooth during fast during action or sport, reviews have shown juddering during 4k Movies. This TV panel also has below average blacks and contrast, pre and post optimisation.

At this price the panasonic Tx-50cx680b (£700) or Samsung UE50JU6800(£749) are significantly better purchases . The only thing going for the samsung UE60JU6000 is the size.

No such thing as future proof but when the proper UHD format was announced literally this week then it's a mistake to buy a high-priced rushed-to-market 4K set that doesn't fully support it.

IIR its because you have one of the other options turned on that this one gets greyed out. I forget which one, but can check tomorrow if you can't find it.

I think I will hold out for a >50" OLED 4K for less than £1000....I believe in a year's time its a real possibility. Time to open a piggy bank

I was wondering about this myself with my set. It always did it, then I had to do a factory reset and it stopped doing it.
I grew to like it, and tried every setting I could think of to get it back to no avail.
After a bit of research on forums, I found it is to do with the backlight brightness setting. Above or below a certain point it will either do it or not. I'm afraid I cannot remember which way around it is. However, my backlight is currently set to 12 and it does it.

There is some high bitrate content in 4K out there, you just got to find the right place to get it. .

not future proof poor tv,you will want to sell and upgrade in 3 months

and this years models are supposed to be even better and cheaper

look at the samsung hdr set and you will see massive difference in colours in a store.

No point in spending this kind of money when more hdr sets will be released in three months for the same amount of money.

tomboz have you tried setting menu->system->scroll-to-next-page->eco solution->motion-lighting to OFF?

For a long time everybody in the know has said that the 'next gen' video standards would incorporate several elements. Resolution is only one part of it. Buying an early 4K set is a mistake.

The UHD Alliance announced those specs at CES, under the label UHD Premium.

This TV doesn't support them, nor most other 2015 4K sets.

I do exactly the same, RS and JL have always accommodated like you said, they seem to leave you to it and do hat you need to do unlike currys/PC world although I never shop their, just use them for items I am buying online that RS and JL dont stock

So you change the setting, if they won't let you then no sale. I even take a USB stick with a mixture of SD and HD videos on when I'm looking for TV's to check the picture on different quality video.
RicherSounds and John Lewis have never once had an issue with this.
Don't be fooled by TV's showing the latest HD Pixar movie in store, EVERY TV looks god showing this stuff....you need to test poor quality to get the measure of a TV

I got the LG60UF850V from Currys when it was on sale and this Samsung was right next to it both powered up. LG had more clarity, sharpness, contrast and better colour overall

Isn't there a Game Mode setting under System > General? There is on my 40" version of this and it makes the input lag go from 118 ms to 26 ms.

Also I quite like that dimming feature when the screen goes black during movies, etc, makes me feel like I'm in the cinema if I'm watching it in the dark! You could probably disable it by turning off Dynamic Contrast? I guess that's what does it.
