Also important to note that Norwegian charges you £50 for a checked bag in advance and £60 if done at the airport - AF/KLM are offering similar fares but they turn out a lot cheaper if you want to take checked in luggage with you (1pc free)

I will be booking a one way flight to New York from London on 19th May 2016, have been keeping an eye on prices for the last 2 months. These are the current prices considering direct flights only;
Norwegian Air: £149.99 (+£50 for baggage & meals)
Delta: £1038
Air France: £842
KLM: £1040.06
Finnair: £990.83
Virgin Atlantic: £1044.65
British Airways: £1230
From what I can see for that specific date that I need nobody can get anywhere near Norwegian's price. The next best deal is Westjet at £291 each with a 5 hour stopover in Toronto.

You also have to pay for a meal onboard , on the plus side they have a nice new 787 fleet

Keep the London Pride and fly Scandinavian Airlines. Mikkeller beers designed to be consumed in the air; Pale, Wit, Lager, Spontan...
Rather have proper craft beer than Pride any day :smirk:

For those living near Birmingham, you can get a return flight to either JFK or Newark for between £330 - £400 direct depending on dates, which includes meals and bags. Granted it's a twin engined 757 but they are fantastic aircraft with a great safety record. Worth a look if you don't want to commute to Gatwick!

Cheap flights to Boston too. Pity about the high checked baggage charges.
