New Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 charger. Not many of these around yet. Seems Anker are only doing a couple devices so far. I've got lots of Quick Charge 2.0 stuff and swear buy it. At £10 I've just picked this up. Looking at the 74 reviews, seems to be about 30% faster than 2.0 so here's hoping its that good!

So, in effect, the device is virtually useless for anyone right now? :L

Single usb portal charger? If this was a triple it'd be hot.
any point getting this for nvidia shield tablet or could I get cheaper 2A charger that would be just as quick?

According this this link it'll charge in about half the time using a QuickCharge 2.0 charger. Not just any charger will do, it has to support the Qualcomm spec:
Have to say I'm pretty tech savvy but was late to discover quick charge 2.0 thinking it was some BS marketing term.
I got an Anker QC 2.0 wall charger and oh my god it charges devices so much faster than the chargers you get with your phones / tablets it's unbelievable.
For the uninitiated, I suggest you check if your device is QC 2.0 compatible and take the plunge as it is worth it.
As someone else commented above when you're dealing with a bit if tech that is delivering power, it's worth paying extra for quality, and Anker deliver. They're like the Apple of power!

Don't know why this is suddenly a hot deal. It has been this price for a couple of weeks and was linked in the deal for the 2.0 version posted 10 days ago.
Personally I will be waiting for them to bring out a 3 port charger with QC 2/3 or for 6 port one at a good price.

One way to drive people to the product, pretend it's a good deal, when as stated pretty useless atm, as a normal charger does what it's supposed to do and won't kill your unchangable battery quicker than normal but then the phone industry wants that as to keep the money coming in from 'better' technology....by killing your product quicker.
Of course if Qualcomm says so it must be true....tech for the gullable....
Actually it's not the fastest / quickest that crown still belongs to OPPO and their VOOC charging, and the phone doesn't actually get hot when charging.
Still good price for a decent charger. I would also suggest buying decent USB cables to use with these fast chargers.

I got this for £14.99 the other week, it's a beast.

The one that melts connectors, melts cables, and even explodes? Yep a real beast.....
These quick chargers have enough power to melt things and cause fires, multiport chargers even moreso if they don't have good individual port power limiting. IMO you need to be careful to make sure you get quality and be prepared to pay a bit more for it.

Anyone that picked up an LG G4 in the recent eBuyer price drop may benefit from this.
The charger that comes with the G4 is not a Quick Charge charger, but the phone itself supports Quick Charge 2.0.
There's a suggestion that, despite supporting the standard, the G4 may be slower to charge than other comparable QC2 devices - but should still be faster than the one that comes in the box.

I tried QC2.0 on the G4 - its charges just as fast as other QC2.0 devices.

Would be useful to anyone who bought a Nexus 6 and received a stupid 2 pin instead of a 3 pin adapter, socket with converter sticks miles out the wall :disappointed:

Yes, I bought one last week and it did, the micro USB cable though not an iPhone cable.

The QC 3.0 model doesn't come with a cable, the QC2 does.

Rather defeats the point really, judging by the specs the PSU can deliver 3.6 Amps, that should be plenty to charge any current Apple device... £14 for a single port charger is a little steep imho...

Not useless, as it still charges other formats of quick charge quickly plus sets you up for when you get a 3.0 device. Hot.

So, yes, it is useless right now then :stuck_out_tongue:
Given it's only £2 more than their v2 I guess it it's not a bad deal

Will this rapid charge USB type C devices ie Nexus 5x etc?
aetaaas
9 Jan 161#6
Well, it works with QC 1.0 and 2.0, and it is not much more than some of the QC 2.0 chargers (£7-8 ) you can find on Amazon. Qualcomm claim 3.0 is more efficient and intelligent than 2.0, reducing heat generated during charging and presumably improving battery longevity on 3.0 devices so if you might be going onto a 3.0 device in the future or have a 2.0 device now, you may as well get this model.

Just to be clear, your phone/device needs to have the technology built in, if it doesn't this won't charge as fast as it says, correct?
Spence1115 to ando

Correct. Also, whilst I don't think there are any Quick Charge 3.0 devices out (only got announced in September), the next wave of flagships most likely will, and this will still work with Quick Charge 2.0 devices (e.g. Samsung Galaxy S6, LG G4 etc) at Quick Charge 2.0 speeds.
