I had the same excellent customer service from Anker. One of the ports on my five port USB charger decided to died whilst I was travelling abroad. spannerzone to jazzuk777
30 Dec 151#37
Yes it should say Turbo Charger on the screen, at least all the video reviews I've seen show that on the MotoX Play
Just to confirm having now received mine and tried it out with my Moto x Play - yes, the message 'TurboPower connected' displayed as soon as I'd pugged in and turned on the charger. When you disconnect the charger a message appears also, along the lines of 'TurboCharged to XX%'.
In a very unscientific test I just charged my Moto X Play for 15 minutes using the charger. It went from 65% to 78%. So call it 0.86% per minute. I'll compare to a normal charge later.
Anker have one of the best customer service I have ever come across. I would pay extra to buy their products. They actually get in touch to ask you if everything is OK once you have received your item. Any problem and they would replace it without any questions.

My phone was also more sluggish and ran hotter before the reset as well.
Q4: Can Quick Charge hurt my smartphone's battery?
A: Quick Charge operates within the design parameters of batteries found in most smartphones. It is just charging the battery the way it is designed to be charged.
Device manufacturers build smartphones with a specific battery that can accept a specific level of charge. The battery size and maximum current of each battery are design decisions made by the manufacturer and can vary from smartphone to smartphone, tablet to tablet and so on.
However, traditional battery charging technology does not come close to the full power requirements of today's large batteries. Quick Charge 2.0 is designed to allow device manufacturers to achieve the full rated capability of the batteries they choose while still meeting the performance and safety standards set by the battery manufacturer.

They are really good for CS. I had a multi port unit and after 11 months one of the ports was dead. Emailed them and a new one arrived in the post within days! Gave the old one to my mum and dad. If you are technical the ports fail due to overcurrent one time fuse blowing. You can open the unit and replace with a resettable fuse. These are surface mount and the case is not simple to open. But for tech folk its an option. RS have the resettable units like this. http://uk.rs-online.com/web/p/resettable-surface-mount-fuses/6517857/

If anyone is looking to buy this then remember you need the charger and lead as in the deal AND a compatible device too. The 'Fast Charge' needs to be part of the phone/tablet's specification (this is the Qualcomm 2 bit) otherwise it will not make any difference.

Remember that it's intended to fast charge up to about 80% quickly then after 80% it resumes charging at a slower rate.
So you may only really see a benefit when charging from much lower amounts of battery reserve.

30 Dec 151#90
Thanks OP - needed a few chargers and now I can grab a decent brand for less.
morgie
30 Dec 15#91
Thanks for that. OK, non-scientific test number two, still using this fast charger, but starting at a lower battery percentage and not going over 80% again. 15 mins charging again, started at 57%, took it to 72%, so that's 1% per minute (improvement on previous rate of 0.86% per minute. Perhaps the limit at which it switches to a slower charge rate is below 80%?
I'll run it down to a similar level again and see how the standard charger compares.
spannerzone
30 Dec 152#92
From what I've read, it'll fast charge up to between 60 and 80%, once it reaches that sort of charge it will go into a slowdown charge mode, presumably to improve battery life by not charging to max in one fast blast which no doubt shortens lifespan of batteries. A fast boost to get it up to a decent level quickly and then a more gentle final charge seems to be how these all work.
morgie
30 Dec 151#93
Running the same 'highly scientific test' with my regular charger and the Moto X Play, 15 mins took it from 57% to 65% so 0.53% per minute compared to 1% per minute with the fast charger in previous 'test'.
