Is that from experience, not had anything urgent but did offer to check alignment which I declined but did take up on different car because steering was slightly off already. To my recollection that was the only thing they offered when I changed 4 sets of tyres and not every occasion if that but then using their repair service could be a different story which I have never used..

Not my experience from having an MOT done at the Newark one a few weeks ago
As a general rule, employees are bad, not businesses. You get good and bad Kwik-Fits, you get good and bad local independents, and I'm sure you get good and bad F1 Autocentres
Rumour has it there's probably a half decent Halfords somewhere as well. Sounds a bit far fetched tbh, but who knows...

Thats not the company, thats the employees then.
F1 have never sold me anything i don't need. Simon and the team at swindon store have been nothing but professional and courteous and always price match any local tyre company.
wouldn't go anywhere else !
Can't speak for other branches, but the one in swindon is excellent.

Most places will have a speculative chance of the up sell. It depends on how you as a person respond to it. As Pavel76 has said, you can always say "No Thank You". If they continue...take your business elsewhere.

I know I've asked before... But please can you source some amazing prices for 215/55/16 tyres? Preferably before April when my MOT is due!

OR simply YOU COULD have a look yourself and then post them and get a warm fuzzy feeling knowing you have helped others
Truly awful tyres. These things shouldn't be allowed. There are much cheaper budget tyres out there that are better than these. Avon, khumo, hankook and falken are all probably cheaper and definitely better than these.

I booked my car in with F1 to have tyres fitted. We agreed a decent price and confirmed they had the tyres I wanted in stock, then before I was due to take my car in they phoned to say sorry they didn't actually have those tyres but they did have some others - a brand which I most certainly did not want and at a price that certainly was not decent. I told them to stuff it and they lost any chance of me ever being their customer in future.
On Pirelli P7 Cinturatos, well I have them on my current car and I can't wait until they wear out enough to justify changing them for Uniroyal Rainsport 3s like I had on my previous car. I've only had Pirellis twice. P6s a few years back that scared the hell out of me, and P7s that came on my latest car when I got it. They are not as bad as the P6s but I don't feel at all confident on them - particularly when it's cold and slightly damp. People seem to like Pirellis but I certainly do not.

Totally agree with yourself on the P7's I was the same though on 225/45/R18's factory fitted. Cold,Damp terrible, Live in N.Ireland so that is basically all the time! Also would say never put these on anything powerful either even pretty much before the wear indicator I changed as they really did feel actually dangerous. 7k was all I got out of them on mainly B-Class driving.

what would be good for 235/45/18 for a Ford SMAX ?
Uniroyal rain sport 3's . They due ware out quicker than other tyres but are great tyres. Winters are only good in low temps so avoid unless you are prepared to change tyres to summer later.

Yes, winter tyres are likely to offer a safer drive during winter (below 7C,which is half the year in Scotland). Many will tell you winter tyres are not required though I'll wager most of those people wear a seat belt.

Goodyear Eagle F1 Assymetric 2. Probably the best value tyre around.
Got mine from tyre leader. £70 a corner.

I'm not sure he wants to go that cheap E/C/73!
If he is going real cheap the pick of the bunch is SV308's by Goodride.
But I'd probably go with Nexen N'Blue HDPlus.
