Great device, works fine with Windows 8 and 10,
No lags up to 1080p, struggling with 4K but still good piece of tech.
Can get Topcashback or Quidco too. TCB has already tracked for me...

what can this do that my chrome cast can't?

Use Wifi Direct to create a direct link between the source and screen, removing the need for a local wired or wifi network.
Your Chromecast is for streaming data across a network. This adapter is more like a wireless HDMI connection.
Both have their pros and cons.

It does work with Windows 10, it was likely either your wireless adapter or graphics card that weren't compatible. Took me a while to get it working with my PC. In the end I had to enable the integrated Intel graphics to work alongside my AMD R270x so that the Intel integrated graphics could handle the wireless display (R270x didn't support it).

I tried the victsing adapter from Amazon and the lag was Terrible. My laptop does have a 4k screen but I changed the resolution to 1080. Given that I changed the resolution on laptop should this have resolved the lag issue? Should this work?

seems to be able to do whatever a chromecast does (since it has miracast) plus has native windows support, so you can select it as if it were a 2nd screen. not for me as i've already discovered chromecast is inferior to an android stick/box plus my shield can stream games which this stick apparently cannot without lag, but seems a great buy for easy in-home streaming.

If you have windows 10 you can stream from you Xbox to it anyways?

cool, never heard of this before. So could i beam a game from my PC to the living room? Its says no lag in the description but im guessing you would need a fairly monstrous wifi connection to make gaming over this pleasant?

if you want gaming consider a Steam Link or a Nvidea Shield TV.

Wifi is direct from device to this adapter, no need for a router but there's still a tiny lag when I used it.

8 Jan 16#14
There is some lag, I can notice the sync is slightly off with video sometimes (sound before video) but it's not too bad for occasional use and I mainly use it for work.
It doesn't use your wifi connection, it creates it's own Wifi network between your device and itself (Wifi direct) so you can use it in hotels etc. without wifi connection.
Note that your PC must support Miracast or this isn't going to work. But this means you can stream from android/other devices that support Miracast, not just Windows.
I'm having some issues with mine though, worked fine on my Surface Pro 3 but since upgrading to the Surface Pro 4 I haven't been able to get it to connect.

I tested one briefly with a Dell Venue Pro: it was set up point-to-point between the tablet and the display adapter (i.e. not via your home network). The dongle is capable of 802.11n - so as long as your laptop/tablet has 802.11n or 802.11ac it should have sufficient bandwidth (It should work with older 802.11a/b/g, but no idea how well it would work at the slower speeds).
It worked brilliantly: virtually no lag (only noticeable if I held the tablet right beside the TV for comparison, but in practical terms: no noticeable lag at all).
Though, from the reviews everywhere there are a lot of people who were not so fortunate. I wonder: what laptop/tablet are people using that did have problems? what spec. CPU (are they Atom?)

Interesting to see peoples experiences with this.
I have a chromecast and FireTV stick (still in the box!) - so I thought a 3rd device would be overkill, although I do want to try this out at some point.
I have a Surface Pro and found that you can stream videos to a chromecast using an a chrome plugin called Videostream Link Here
Video compatibility may be a bit hit and miss (with high res files) but it worked well with a 720p MKV file. No sync issues and you could choose the output format (720p, 480p etc..)
For those saying video streaming does not work well, they it may be that your Windows device is not a good enough spec to handle the video mirroring.
Also it will probably be pointless trying to play a game via this method - just plug in cable if you want lag free gaming!

Probably, or you could just open Kodi on the TV from your laptop as the TV will show as a second display on your laptop once the wireless adapter is setup.

For anyone confused how to connect this up as in "This has a USB to HDMI, so how's that wireless". The USB is there for power, look at 1:45 in this video to see how it's connected and used >
Yes as this is for a direct wifi to wifi connection, no router required. So directly from the wifi transceiver on the device you want to stream from to this device connected to your display device.

It is a Dell XPS 4k (9350) that I am using too. Is this the same version as yours? Also, I'm assuming that to reduce the lag you changed your screen resolution on your tv to 1080, or would this help?

No Lag?. depends on the environment you are using it in. Got one in the office and there is noticeable delay between laptop + Tv, also occasional slight glitches due to the amount of wifi equipment in the office.
Took it to a trade show, the day before the show started, no glitches what-so-ever. But didn't want to risk it playing up on trade days so went back to a really long HDMI cable.
It's good for what it is; watching video's and desktop stuff it will work just fine. Playing games, I think I wouldn't bother risking it.

Sky blocks output from sky go when using a hdmi cable from an iOS device, presumably to stop people creating a kind of sky box (and not buying a real one from them). Would be surprised if this works but maybe Android can't be locked down in that way?

My TV only has 1 hdmi port so I have a switch. Unfortunately the switch is quite far away from the back of the telly where the USB is. Could I plug a extension cable into the TV's usb and adapter so I can power the adapter through the tv's usb port.
Also, will this adapter work with a Samsung tab a? I would like to mirror games and a movie. I am assuming my Lumia 640 will work. Lol

great device . bought it from Amazon warehouse deal @£38 which thought was good. this even better. mirrors pc screen. Slight response delay when have number of USB devices connected, given alternatives trailing cables/ other mirrowcast device limitations still beat option. Powered by USB so need one on TV near hdmi or seperate USB power source. word of warning gets hot so unplug when use

Received mine today - works with my sender devices (Windows laptop, Windows tablet, Android tablet, Android phone) a lot better than the Fire TV Stick does, and is not limited to specific "cast enabled" apps like Chromecast.
Works great for full desktop/screen mirroring & video playback is fine up to 1080p.
I'm not terribly interested in streaming games to it but thought I'd give it a go anyway, just to see how it coped.
Looks like it's capped @ 30 fps maximum - sending it any source below that it's fine, beyond that it struggles, starting to get laggy and generating artifacts.
