If anybody is still after this tablet. Saw 6 on shelf in the Sainsbury's central Milton Keynes store last night.

I bought this yesterday but on another thread there were a lot of negative comments about the upgrade and was thinking of returning it. How large a micro SD card does this support? What do I need to buy for the update micro SD or external USB drive?

Does the lite version have a normal USB Port ?

I got one of these for the Father in Law and just done the upgrade via USB no problem. I have the 1010B and love it but I've shoved a 16gb SD card into the 10 Lite and it's running very nicely. He won't be using it for anything other than browsing really.
You will need to delete the old Windows from the machine afterwards though to free up space using the cleanup tool.
I would say however that the screen doesn't feel as smooth as my 1010B. It seems a little rougher (and I've taken the screen protector off both)

They update fine, you just have to make sure you have an SD card in it, when it fails you just click "fix" and click the option to use SD for extended storage, the update goes fine.
Also, just make sure you use disk clean up before starting the update to ensure you have the max storage available.
My 10 lite is fully updated.

they have a lot of these returned, got one from staples, had to return it before xmas as it wasn't charging, the manager said they have 3 more to send back

Sainsbury's in Enfield about £120. They scanned and checked and definitely no price reduction and could not understand how any other store could sell them cheaper and had no instuctions to reduce the price from head office!

Only a matter of time before the superior 1010 shows up at this price or marginally more.

Yes, I've been told by Linx that the update that cannot be applied WILL re-enable the use of sd cards as external storage , but unless the ones in Sainsburys come with this update already installed, they will be stuck on a version of Windows 10 that doesnt have this ability.

I'm pretty sure that one of the recent updates allowed you to install apps to SD.

It did occur to me that lack of memory might be mitigated somewhat (provided that it has a USB3 interface to the MicroSD slot) by sticking a large swapfile on some super premium spec SD card. But I doubt it could be done without hackery and the cost of a big capacity, high speed, low latency SD card probably approaches that of another tablet.

It's unbelievably common for this tablet to run slow AF on windows 10.
Although readi nd a few other replies it seems a fresh install of 10 rather than an update seems to solve it a bit.

Different experiences (or expectations) it seems. My linx 8 also ran incredibly slowly on update to 10. A clean install made it marginally better, but nowhere near as smooth as 8.1.

It's not that common I think, but a few have said their Linx tablets were laggy post-Windows 10 install.

I've done a Connect 7 (Linx 7 clone), Linx 10 (original) and Linx 8 Windows 10 upgrades (via Windows Update) and had no problems at all - though I had to fix screen rotation not long after Windows 10's release - it was sorted with upgrades later on. Maybe a clean install is the way to go.

The Linx Light 10 seems like a bit of a dumb idea really but that's just my opinion. Only difference to the 1010 seems to be the 16GB internal memory vs 32GB. Picture nicked from Gumtree :smiley:

I have a linx 8 and a linx 10 (2 GB RAM 32 GB storage version) and both run Windows 10 perfectly. The 8 has only 1GB RAM and still runs fine, not at all laggy for me. My other tablet is a lenovo miix8 and was my fabourite until my wife spoilt me with a surface pro for XMAS.

I don't think the 16GB storage will be enough personally, I filled the 32 up pretty quickly.

Rich does the previous model only have a gig ram?
I had the linx 7 and updated that to windows 10. Became pretty much unusable. Ended up having to replace it with a bush 8" tablet that had 2 gig ram. Runs so much better

took mine back as there was not enough system memory for an update that was available and it wouldn't download to the SD card nor would any apps...think this was a Windows 10 issue

I have one, cracking device for the money. Just add a mini usb and all your storage concerns are gone

IMO, this does not have enough storage to reliably run and update Windows.without a degree in Computer Science!
Better to look for a minimum of 32GB which is just about enough.

Unfortunately, shaky1910 speaks the truth. It does not help that Microsoft disabled external storage for anything other than multimedia storage.
However, I am currently arranging with Linx to have them send out a usb flash drive with the update on to see if that enables my device to update.

Can I afford it? Do I want it? Do I need it?
