Reduced from £35,655 to £25,900. Good deal if you want to moonlight as a minicab driver.

Can I just ask, how many times the peeps out there, in the UK have been picked up by a Merc taxi, not that many. I use taxis a lot ( usually on a friday/saturday night) and they are definitely not Mercs.

I'll take comfort every day. Traffic is dull in any car.

I had one of these as a hire car a while back. Very comfortable, like driving an expensive sofa, but quite dull otherwise.

Indeed. Despite the discount, no point in buying it and paying £25k, when you can find lease deals for this car between 250-300 a month on 24 month contracts. After 2 years you can just take a different car.

The new model is out this year with a new diesel engine, new 9-speed auto and over-the-air software updates. Prices start from £35,935. The old model offers value given the smaller but new C-class still uses the old engines/transmissions but has a higher price.

Cambridge is full of Merc E220 taxis. Where I'm from originally is only 30 miles away and the typical taxi is a 10 year old Toyota. I was very surprised but apparently posh taxis charging no extra do exist.

Taxi firm my employer uses only has Mercs. Many of them have 150k plus on the clock after a couple of years and they just keep on going.

Yeah just south of Cambridge and there are a lot of Merc taxis and its what the services drive so I use them for work to get to the airport.

More often than not it is a Skoda Octavia/Superb around the North East. In Germany every taxi is a Merc and every Police car is a BMW. Over here we have plenty of BMW Police cars, but not so many Merc taxis.
Very comfy and refined car is the E class, unlike the A and C class.

So what if they are used as taxis? I expect taxi drivers look for comfort and reliability as being important attributes in a car, so if you would rather have a car that was unreliable and uncomfortable......? In Germany, lots of cabs are E-class Mercs. Doesn't stop them being popular with other drivers over there.
